1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS So I just happened to be watching Inside the Actor's Studio with Travolta on it, probably made back in the earlier part of this decade. He went into Scientology a bit saying the tone scale is a great actor's tool and blah blah blah. But than I got to thinking....how did he get involved to begin with? So I started looking up stuff and came across this article 1983 Rolling Stone Interview with Travolta and it mentioned Scientology: Now I know there was another point back in the 90's where Travolta spoke out about Miscavige. So, to me, this says a lot about his inner thinking about the organization. That seed of doubt might come up again since Jett's death.
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS Question: "Scientology uses your name a lot in promoting its cause. Do you feel it has used your celebrity for its own purposes?" Travolta: "Yeah, unfortunately they got me on tape admitting I am a major fag and now, well, I'm pretty much fucked". fixt
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS It's obvious he hasn't been nearly as loyal or brainwashed as Cruise (see below) but these quotes are golden. There is a good chance he's blackmailed into silence.
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS Curiously, John Travolta was point man during the Clinton administration. When Bush took office, he faded back and Tom Cruise took the stage. I've always wondered why that was.
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS Here's the cover to this particular Rolling Stone:
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS Travolta stated that Narconon could of cured Anna Nicole Smith a while back.... guess the Purif didnt' help Jett in any way either. “Scientology Could Have Saved Anna Nicole,” Says Travolta : Staralicious
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA That's not gay at all. pthbb...HAHAHA
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS In case yah didn't know. ( I din't know) That Travolta was behind the Drug Free Marshals program which is of course ALL about kids.. The Drug-Free Marshals were founded in April 1993, when 200 young people ages 6 to 13 were sworn in as Drug-Free Marshals (using the children's pledge) by actor John Travolta and the director of the Los Angeles Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) Drug Demand Reduction Program. Foundation for a Drug-Free World
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS Sorry if this is a bit off topic... How could Travolta save his son when he was SO dern brainwashed? He states Narconon is the BEST. Which is why of course they tried the Purif on Jett. *shakes head* John Travolta Says Narconon is the Best Drug Rehab Program June 3, 2007 — ppedersen John Travolta Says Narconon is the Best Drug Rehab Program Spiritually Inclined to Inform Your Mind AND jewtube vid:
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS JT's Scientology folders for ethics and auditing now must contain so much blackmail material (and yes they do threaten blackmail if you try to leave) that he is trapped in there now.
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS This is actually pretty sad - that John was trapped in the cult due to the threat of blackmail - the same cult that prevented his son from getting the treatment he needed. And now his son is dead.
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS Such is the insideousness of a criminal organization masquarading as a religion. This whole disgusting situation only emboldens me.
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS Oh, agreed. Something I've been thinking about - Kelly Preston seems a much more vocal advocate for the cult (anti-psych rallies, etc). Makes me wonder what he really thought about her crusade all this time. I guess no matter what he thought of it, he couldn't say anything. This cult is disgusting.
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS Also Snake: Do you have the issue number and month the article was printed? Also a scan would be nice. I'm trying to get the End The Cult Library off the ground and this would be a valuble addition to the Travolta article.
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS John Travolta gives a new definition to being whipped.
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS Rolling Stone Magazine #402 August 18 1983 Travolta No scans available but that cover I posted earlier is lulzy
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS I recall reading an ex-sci's story which included a reference to Travolta, a number of years ago (20?), being accidently confronted with some rather pathetic looking/hungry/tired sciguys. Apparently the look on Travolta's face and body language was WTF????? There's NO WAY he doesn't remember that occasion. (tho obviously I can't remember much detail of the story I read...can anyone else remember it?)
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS I remember a rumor line from around the late 80s that Travolta had some case difficulties for the last few years but it finally "got handled". The story was that he was hit by some "Mayo-naised" False Purpose Rundown and went off the rails for a while. (David Mayo was a close figure to LRH in the 70s, but was later declared "suppressive" about '83 I think. IIRC, he was instrumental in the development of FPRD and NOTs. Later "dissing" called some of his supposedly "altered to worsen" material "Mayonaised".) Looks to me like Travolta had some of the same uneasyness about "Int Management" (that had recently been heavily reorganized/"overthrown") that caused many to leave over the last 25 or so years.
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS The story was that JT came face to face with some RPFers. True or not? I dunno.
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS That incident occurred at a private movie screening at Gold Base, the haggard scientologists were RPF'ed workers, and the anecdote is published in Dr Stephen Kent's paper on brainwashing in the RPF.

Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS Seems a celebrity would have the best chance of any of us to stand up to such shite. It would pretty much kill any illusion in the public's eye that scientology is in any way a religion if they released priest penitential (as they say on each folder) materials of such a high profile celeb.
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS Well there might not be a press release from the Chruch of Scientology but there would be things leaked to the media. (if they do do that type of thing, I would be suprised if they don't)
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS They do. There's an article somewhere about where they show how they get to a judge without repercussions. Scary shit. There, that's better.
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS Actually, they would move with great pains to avoid any apperance of direct involvement. They would have "insiders" leak trivia gleaned from the PC-folder to tabloids and other media outlets. Remember, these bastards kept a retainer with that sleazy asshole Anthony Pellicano, a full-time professional blackmailer and part-time private detective. On top of both the public and private nasty, petty, sniping and character-assassination from other sci-celebs against someone who they now see as a traitor. Tricksey and sneaksey hobbittses.
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS And not everything they find out about you is found out through auditing. For someone like JT or TC, they put people next to them so that everything they do is reported on.
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS Eye bleach someone, please? What the frack was that all about???
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS O.K. So, he's been smeared with vaseline, but not with pubes! We need to take up a collection from NYC Anons.
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS I was just wondering about Cameron Crowe being a scientologist - something I somehow never considered before - and I found this 1977 interview between 22 year-old Travolta and 20 year-old Cameron Crowe. Even though Travolta sounds like a loon when he goes on about Withholds (scroll up from the bottom till you see "You're into Scientology..." and read to the end), Crowe just continues to casually ask questions like he is trying to "educate" Playgirl readers rather than expose the insanity that is Scientology. My question is did Travolta bring LRH to Crowe or the other way around? Anyone know? ETA: I still don't know for sure that Crowe is a scientologist (is the guest list from the "Vanilla Sky" movie premiere not enough proof?) but I do know that Crowe is not the one who brought LRH to Travolta. Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS Do make me wallop the shit out of you all...
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS The Superficial - John Travolta is delusional "I have fame on the level of a Marilyn Monroe or an Elvis, but part of the reason I didn't go the way they did was because of my beliefs. People make judgments about it [Scientology], but often they don't know what they're talking about. I would advise anyone who wants to know about it to read up on it. We [the Church of Scientology] are only getting bigger and we help people all over the world, from disaster zones to drug rehabilitation. We were having a problem in Germany [where some critics called Scientology a money-making entity rather than a religion]. I talked to [former president Bill] Clinton who talked to Chancellor Kohl and things have improved since then."
Re: 1983 - Travolta: "I don't agree" with the CoS That video clip from 1983's "Staying Alive" is so bad in so many ways: - I can't believe I thought he was hot at the time - its story line is SO LRH-esque; maybe he was a script consultant? - I still came buckets twenty-six years later
