38 Native Americans Hung by ORDERED by President Abraham Lincoln in 1862:

    Our bad. Sorry!
  3. Rockyj Member hope people will at least watch the movie.
And please know all western (EUROPEAN) colonized indigenous people have suffered basically the same realities.

I was serious when I said I was sorry. I was also trolling kinda. Because there is nothing I can say. I'm just glad I don't live in those times and I hope the children born today figure out how not to fuck things up as much as we have. Especially in the Middle East. Why should a new generation of children have to carry on all that misery?

LOOK (YES as a real federally recognized tribal member of a NW Native American tribe I truly appreciate your white guilt) but of course we know those who ARE sorry no longer represent US!

I never really understood what murkan thanksgiving was about anyway, that being said I am not sure what canadian thanksgiving is either.

    I love turkey though

Its a made up holiday - like Mothers Day and Fathers Day. Doesn't mean anything.
  13. Kilia Member

Darn, I wish you hadn't said that.
  14. RightOn Member

    I don't "celebrate" thanksgiving
I just eat dinner. But I also eat dinner with family and friends on MANY other days of the year.
All commercial holidays are bullshit IMO and are just an excuse for retailers to make money. I was brought up Catholic, (no longer Catholic for like a hundred years now) and I still can't figure out what decorating a tree, and exchanging gifts has to do with Jesus Christ. Not trying to get into a religious war here. This is just MY opinion.
My family hasn't exchanged gifts for YEARS for Christmas. How much crap do you need? It's just stupid and a waste of money.
Family and people getting together and spending time together (and ONLY if it is enjoyable) should always be a focus in your life and only IF you enjoy it. And this should be done on many days during the year, not just on these made up holidays.

Thanksgiving is a celebration of the harvest. That transcends all barriers among people.
@RockyJ: do you have a belly button? If so, then you belong to the same tribe as the rest of us.

  16. If nothing else, for many it's a couple days off. Can't really hurt.

    If you drink, don't drive.

Thanksgiving and Christmas are there to make those of us living in the Northern Hemisphere less suicidal when it's cold and dark and bleak and there is nothing to do but drink yourself into a stupor. Sometimes though, the holidays just make the misery worse. Like, if you're recently divorced and you start thinking about the good times you once had together as a family but will never enjoy again.

Oh I'm just kidding. I love turkey and pumpkin pie and egg nog.

But I agree with the belly button comment. Our ancestors are the same. And we should be thankful that they were tough buggers who survived and had children in spite of all the hardships they faced.

We can't change the past but we can tell our children, "Don't fite over stupid shit like we did, seriously. You will regret it big time."

Fighting over genocide is not the same shit, and we should not be patting Rocky on the head and telling her to get over it. When was the last time you went to a rez and had a look?

You won as that was probably the most hurtful comment anyone ever responded to me. I apologize for calling you a "fucken dip wad" but I wasn't expecting anyone trying to relate what's been happening in the middle east to what happened to the indigenous populations of North America after European colonizers basically, decided we weren't real human beings so our lives didn't matter. Please note our lives didn't matter based on their so called Christian beliefs!

I might add that I just would like to educate people about the effects/impact that historical trauma/internalized oppression has on a people.
Please know we aren't the only people impacted by this.
If you deny or don't validate what really happen you basically, condone it.

Rocky please accept my apology. I am of irsh catholic desent my family sufferd greatly in the new world a long time's the thing that was then this is noaw. My piont in my first post was some things are never going to change. As anons we need to set an example of what a global collective should be. Divided by zero. Friendly untill pushed and then brutally blunt. There is no black, white, brown or yellow. Only haves and have nots. don't hold me responsible for the sins of others. Please try to understand.i hope we can move forward and work together to wake up those who still sleep.

You really are a tiresome racist, Rocky. I don't object to the racism, since you are so open about it, but that is the tiresome aspect of it, since you won't shut up.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, I hope you are surrounded by people you love, in a warm comfortable house, with the turkey or ham cooked in a gas oven, with electric lights keeping the place bright, the TV playing some football game in the background, the furnace running, keeping you and those you love warm against the cold outside.

You are a tiresome boor, but I still wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.
