    AMBER ALERT: Stranger abducts 10-year-old Springfield girl

    SPRINGFIELD, MO (KCTV) -
    An Amber Alert has been issued for a 10-year-old girl out of Springfield Tuesday.
    Police said Hailey M. Owens was abducted from a home in the area of Lombard Street and Laurel Avenue about 4:48 p.m. She may be in the company of a white man. The two may be traveling in a 2008 Gold Ford Ranger vehicle with Missouri license plate 1YF454.
    Witnesses reportedly chased the vehicle and the child's mother says the man who grabbed her is a stranger to the family. Police have no further description of the man.
    Hailey is about 5'2" tall and weighs about 90 pounds. She has long brown hair, brown eyes and pierced ears. She was last seen wearing blue jean shorts and purple sandals.

    I ordinarily never believe in the death penalty , but I had so hoped and believed that dear little girl might somehow be returned unharmed. :( her poor family.

    When I was a kid, my dad said people like that abductor should be strapped to a chair with a case of dynamite in an open field, and sit there for a few hours, knowing that they would be blown to bits in a few hours.

    Craig Michael Wood arrested.

    He is employed at a Springfield, Missouri, middle school, where he works as a coach and in some "suspension" capacity.

    45 years old.

    Booked in Greene County Jail on a murder charge.

    I seen this early this morning while I was getting ready for work. I knew when I heard the dude was being booked for first degree murder, that this had gone where nobody wanted it to go.

    There is suppose to be another police report some time around 11am CST. As soon as info comes up, I'll be more than happy to share.

    I've not found dox that he was a coach at the Middle School, so I deleted my post. There is some local news coming out, and a news conference in 2 hours.

    Anyway, this is another sad day for another family of a child. :(
