In 1974 we had banks, and we had (limited) international trade, and life back then was nowhere as good as today.

Without banks to lend money, there are no more factories, no more companies, and no more jobs, and everyone is back to farming or crafting, living like the Amish.
Without international trade, consumer choices become severely limited, so no more inexpensive consumer goods: get ready to spend a week's salary on a shirt or a toy for your kid. No more fresh produce imported from Mexico, so get ready to pay big bucks for food.

As for tying currency to gold, it's arbitrary, why pick gold? Why not pick something else, like pork bellies, or oranges, or seashells, or coal, or lumber, or ...
The demand for gold rises and falls according to market demand. For example, say some newfangled LCD monitor uses a few grams of gold, boom the demand rises, or say that the latest fashion trend is to shun gold jewellery for surgical steel, boom the demand falls. Tying currency to gold only creates artificial demand for it, making the price of gold rise indefinitely as the economy grows, and making gold become unavailable for everyday use.

Bretton Woods was moot by 1974. The US was off the gold standard,

yes I remember how every thing cost so munch we barley made it by those dark days when americans had so many jobs that didnt pay anything but that was when the world was buying a lot of american goods I know that and today we will have to compete on the world stage the world has been changing rapidly for the last 40 years and tying money to gold has been a tradition for stability and confidence then next thing you know it is fiat again just from reading it looks to be that way as I said I watch because every time I turn around the market goes haywire the fed is at it again and I dam well know these chairmen screw up I have seen it time after time all my life We need A cent bank but I think there is room for improvement what they do effects all our lifes wishing they would get there shit together before I die of old age would be greatly appreciated
  9. naveman, in the future I might read your posts if you use sentences, punctuation, and paragraphs. Until then they just give me a headache.

There are still people in Russia who wish they could go back to the days of Stalin when life was better for them.

    Wrong and fail wrong.

There is no purpose for a central bank. Its just another way to pour more bullshit interest and fictious electronic dollar that dont exist, has never extisted and another way to line the pockets of people who can avoid aduits.

When are people gonna learn that a central bank does nothing more than protect, the other banks. Thats it! It does not protect or provide for anything else. I could see someone claiming the FDIC insurance policy but when was the last time that was ever needed? Oh wait never. It was made a law after the the stock market crash in the 20s.....and was never needed again. Yet another reason the government could justify the reason for a central bank.

Also, alot of people think a central bank is a good thing....like the republicans....and yet they want a capitalist system.....and yet....a central bank is the anti-capitalist solution that does nothing but protect the independent banks and futhers the wealthy and lessens the grip of citizens as a republic on the working of corporate america. BTW protecting the independent banks with the government is a socialist system and resolve....it does not futher capitalism nor help our actual government in regards to our Eco.....its bullshit.

....a central bank needs to be dissolved. Plain and simple. For both parties agruements and for both capitalism, socialism and most importantly for AMERICANS.

Oh and I do not think Anonymous has anything to do with this aside from its corrupt electronic make believe money that fucks all of us world wide.....oh wait........I think we are all humans right.......

Sometimes I cant remember....i just dont know anymore.

Why is some dumb-fuck presidential-appointee 1% banker reviewing schmoozing military troops? I think we understand that part just fine.
So why is he approving of the BoA swindle and fraud of transferring massive amounts of radioactive junk debt against people's low-risk/low-gain long-term savings?

Is it me, or has somebody let loose a pack of n00b thread necromancers?

On the plus side: A judge told Citigroup "NO U" today in regards to Citigroup trying to settle in regards to their part in the financial meltdown. That means, should nothing unforseen happen, Citigroup will have to go to court and possibly pay more than they wanted to.
