Anti YouTube Monopoly Proposal: Operation Bump!

The objective of the operation is to choose an alternative video streaming website with potential to surpass or at least compete seriously with youtube. That website should be able provide a good service and support social networking.

    Suggested steps

1.- Make allies inside the youtube community. The people around the last boycott should be a good starting point, and maybe they can lead us to some more people.

    2. Set up a forum for discussion and planning. It could also be a room inside some anon forum, though I don't know if that is advisable.

    3. Choose the website to replace/compete with youtube. Vimeo seems to be the most appropriate.

    4. Contact the owners of the site to let them know why are we doing this and what we expect from them (freedom of speech). Also to give them feedback about our costumer experience with their site.

    5. Massively open accounts on the choosen site, masively upload high quility content.

    6. When a large community has formed in the website and high quality content has been posted, PROMOTE the site in youtube. The people of the last boycott. with their large subscriber base are way important for this. It would be awesome if they created content exclusive for the new website and promote in on youtube.

    7. Keep raiding periodically youtube promoting the new website. Watch statistics, keep up planning for new and better ways of enlarging the selected website user base.

    8. ???

    9. Profit!

If we can achieve to accomplish this, it will be also a powerful message for google and youtube: do not mess with your user base!

    Thoughs? cocks?

1.) Upload ALL videos to VIMEO first

2.) If necessary, secondarily, upload videos to ScilonTube.

3.) Sprinkle as many references to VIMEO as possible into ScilonTube videos themselves as well as in the video Comments section.

I have slight issue with this: Not everyone is willing to pay for Vimeo accounts (IIRC the bandwidth limits), and many will go well over the 500MB monthly limit.

In that one sense, maybe we could find something other than Vimeo -- assuming something is out there.

Also, another idea: Upload a partial clip of a video. Stop it short, and give "to see the entire video, visit (Vimeo link)" Or use the handy pop-up thing being used ever more often in Youtube videos, which would take the people directly to the Vimeo upload.

Of course, there is a warning" YouTube staff will catch on quickly and start filtering Vimeo links, and maybe even the name. Maybe something like tinyurl.com would be an idea for direct linking? It's just a thought.

Googlevideo. Is that a viable YT alternative?

Re: Anti YouTube Monopoly Proposal: Operation Bump!

Since YouTube is owned by Google, I would anticipate some problems in the future.

It also seems that it would be counterproductive.

Re: Anti YouTube Monopoly Proposal: Operation Bump!

it's a nice idea, but we use youtube not for personal use but to reach the public

what does the public use? youtube.

I'm not saying don't use vimeo or attempt this, but we should use vimeo for our lesser videos and use both for our major vids

ScilonTube has been assimilated by Google.

    Google owns ScilonTube.

ScilonTube policies are sanctioned by Google.

Scilons have infected Google and are in the process of assimilating Google.

VIMEO is the way to go ATM.

1.) Upload ALL videos to VIMEO first.

2.) If necessary, secondarily, upload videos to ScilonTube.

3.) Sprinkle as many references to VIMEO into your videos and the Comments section on ScilonTube.

The public is beginning to discover alternative video hosting services. Anonymous could easily end up being the source of 'critical mass' that shifts the market away from ScilonTube.

The Cult can threaten Google/ScilonTube by withdrawing ad revenue and threatening expensive legal action.

Shifting Market Trends can cost Google/ScilonTube FAAAAAAAAAAR MOAR in lost ad revenue when the market moves away from their Cult a** licking video service.

The public only knows about ScilonTube now...today.

A few years ago, not many in the public really knew anything about ScilonTube.

A few years from now, ScilonTube could easily end up being a distant memory.

    Let's help.

Still use ScilonTube when it's wise while phasing in their replacement.

    ScilonTube is not God.

ScilonTube can easily be labeled as a 'second string' service and, from there...forgotten.

Re: Anti YouTube Monopoly Proposal: Operation Bump!

Just a question when I search a subject with Google It brings up You Tube videos that have that subject in the results.

That is not going to happen with vimeo.

But if you want to build up Vimeo more you can go and find the top rated videos (what ever they are) and constantly up load them to Vimeo. then when people eventually HEAR about Vimeo they'll notice it is like You Tube with less crap

    Video sharing sites compared:

Ten video sharing services compared - DV Guru

    Also, alexa says:

So I guess its dailymotion then? It seems to have more trafic than vimeo at least...

Re: Anti YouTube Monopoly Proposal: Operation Bump!

It's pointless. YouTube has millions of subscribers and not enough of them get videos fraudulently removed and censored by Google to motivate them to leave for Vimeo. It's pointless to suppose that any alternative to YouTube will ever be created that even remotely approaches the quality of technology that Google applies.

Would be nice but seems pointless.

Re: Anti YouTube Monopoly Proposal: Operation Bump!

The thing is, as long as youtube gets most of the audience they can abuse their audience freedom of speech. So the idea is to increase the user base of some other site so it can compete with youtube and eventually take over.

Re: Anti YouTube Monopoly Proposal: Operation Bump!

People will HEAR about it when enough people start to TALK about it.

It has to start somewhere with someone.

    How about here?

    How about us?

Gee, that post seems like psychological warfare from OSA.

If you insist on seeing a clear road as impassable, then it will be blocked....to you.

    Your point is pointless.

Why should anyone try to do anything to oppose The Cult?

The Cult has millions of dollars and Anonymous has nowhere near the financial resources.

Ever heard of Judo? That's where you use the inertia of your opponents mass....AGAINST THEM.

    ScilonTube is NOT GOD.

It can be supplanted and replaced.

It will happen in time anyway.

    It's simple.

1.) Post ALL videos on VIMEO first.

2.) For as long as necessary, use ScilonTube second.

3.) Make as many references to VIMEO as possible on the video hosted on ScilonTube as well as the video Comments section.

4.) In time, the markets will shift. They always have and always will.

5.) Market shifts require a 'critical mass'. We could provide that 'critical mass'.

I have a question for you:

    WHO....runs this?

    ETA:

    ScilonTube is NOT GOD.

ScilonTube didn't even exist 4 years ago.
