RE: Applied Scholastics receiving federal education Supplemental Educational Services monies.

At least two state departments of education are now investigating the Applied Scholastics tutoring programs that are part of the state and federally-funded Supplemental Educational Services (SES) program. What the investigators need are first person accounts of families who enrolled their children in the Applied Scholastics SES after-school programs and were dis-satisfied and how and why did they pull out.

I have explained to the investigators that when families contact any of us concerned with the Applied Scholastics tutoring program in the public education SES program, we generally advise them to NOT file a formal complaint but rather pull out and get another SES service provider. (This was certainly excellent and prudent advice when G.W. Bush was in office..... he had appointed Scientologist John Danielson as Chief of Staff to Sec'y of Education Rod Paige from 2001-2005, although this was not public knowledge until Nov. 2007. Those of us expressing concern about Scientology programs in public education who were within the public teaching and/or academic profession at the time would receive phone calls, e-mails and letters from unknown people questioning what we were doing. We did not want families under similar pressure.)

IF you have direct knowledge about a family being dis-satisfied with Applied Scholastics in the Supplemental Educational Services program and the family wants to talk to a department of education investigator, please contact your state department of education and ask if there is an investigation. If so, have a cogent statement available from the family. If there has not yet been an investigation begun, your phone call might trigger one.

Same here. No idea who that anon is, but it's great to see someone who knows what they are talking about, with knowledge about the education system, being proactive in exposing Applied Scholastics to the Department of Education. Nice work, love the initiative.

^^Missiouri may have been one of 'em, i got not replies bak and eventually tossed the files. The list of states with SES approvals in that pdf IS NOT CURRENT, copypasta was put on a wiki page and others kept it up to date after me (and I'm not sure if page was recovered from wiki backup site yet)

^^This was year ending 2009, a 2010 version should be floating around somewhere for more recent version of same old recruiting schtick. find me the ling and I'll slice and dice it down for educational group stuff.

I had a bad ling on the info pack pdf ^^upstream, its now fix'd.
  12. AnonLover Member

Links and formatting recovered so that page looks pretty again, altho i didnt verify the accuracy of the states currently on the list (assuming those all still stand). The note on the list also indicates the updated SES provider lists by state weren't fully available when last it was trimmed for drop offs, so it may need some 2011 corrections. But atleast now its readable.

Coming soon to the scribd collection i posted above - a 2011 version of the info pack + the other materials currently on media fire repackage'd & bullet proofed for proper fair use reuse.

^^Now updated for all known providers for 2010-11 school year, including fresh hyperlinks where needed but contact names not chk'd.

Fresh status update included at the top of the list of infiltrated states...

New Mexico was prematurely ejaculated... its still in mix altho some eligible school districts appear to not carry it on their school-specific list of SES providers. So we got 10 states instead of 9.

AAAAArrrrrrgj.... while finishing up the 2011 update to my info pack & re-chking all the links/contacts in directory at the end, i found previously undiscovered cult infiltration:

    ^^Updated
  19. AnonLover Member

All states nao re-verified for Applied Scholastics being listed on the 2010-11 Approved Providers list, and all states checked for Applied Scholastics dba SomeFictitiousBiznessName for covert infiltration possibilities. All clean - Iowa was the only later bloomer we missed for current school year.

one last thing to check and WANTED ITT: proxy up copypasta harvesting venture to appliedscholastics dot org, and grab a dump of all ASI franchises & certified tutor names currently indexed in the "global locator" for all States and US Territories.

The franchise owner/tutor names can then be dbl check'd in state bizness registration records to see if their actively peddling Applied Scholastics under alternate (cleverly disguised) name thats not yet on our radar.

Much <3 for any ^^HALP lended.

^^Thanks! I'll starting running checks for potential SES Providers running under alternate business names in the states where ASI lost it's approval status first, followed by states where no SES infiltration has occurred.

and i'll leave the digging up further info on ASI tutors/academies in the 11 states where ASI has a current SES approval up to the localfags working those sectors.

crossposting from old project thread... the Applied Scholastics Exposed info pack & related materials is now complete!

Special thanks to OTBT, studytech.org and misc. leakers for providing the sauce that went into this compilation. /bows

Note: i havent run all the digdeeper cross checks on the Global Locator info dump upstream ITT. But these dox should still be good2go unless by chance we discover newly infected state under a disguised name to add to the list approved locations, & then I'll just spin a qckie update to the main document as needed.

Although this is not strictly Applied Scholastics, it is close enough. And the tactics are familiar to those os us who have dealt with Applied Scholastics over the years.

Has anyone else run across "Good Choices Program"? Please check with your state department of education. Generally when Scientology tries one avenue in one state they are also doing parallel avenues in other states.

lllinois education committee says resolution’s Scientology link inappropriate for public schools

    May 11, 2011

    Washington Post

    By Associated Press,

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Not even the voice of Bart Simpson could convince Illinois lawmakers to approve a resolution aimed at teaching character in public schools because of its link to the Church of Scientology.
The resolution endorsed a program called Good Choices as an example of how to teach morals and values. The program is based on “The Way to Happiness” by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard.
Actress Nancy Cartwright, a Scientologist who also provides Bart’s voice on the U.S. version of “The Simpsons,” testified before a House education committee that the program has “nothing to do with religion.”
She said it stresses moral concepts such as respecting others’ religion, living up to promises and treating other people the way you want to be treated.
“This book is not part of any religious doctrine,” Cartwright said.
Opponents contend the Good Choices Program is closely associated with Scientology beliefs and promoting it in schools would violate the separation of church and state.
Rob Sherman, a Buffalo Grove atheist activist, said the Good Choices Program book says on its cover that it is based on “The Way to Happiness.” He said students could easily search the Internet for that title and discover a link to Scientology, which he said would be akin to advocating a religious text in public schools.
The resolution sponsored by Rep. Dan Burke, D-Chicago, lists Good Choices as one of several successful programs for teaching character. It commends Good Choices’ ”common sense guidelines covering specific tools to help children evaluate situations and make good decisions that will improve life for themselves and others.”
Burke acknowledged the link between Scientology and Good Choices was stronger than he realized. Burke said he would rewrite the resolution and bring it up again later.
    __
    The resolution is HR254.

    Thank you.

If you check the url, you will see that as of May 17, 2011 the corrected House Committee Amendment 1 (not mentioning the "Good Choices Program" which is based on TWTH) has been referred to the Rules Committee. I hope that people are checking with their state's Education Committee (in both parts of the legislative state government) to see if the "Good Choices Program" is being presented for adoption.

what is making the last 9 states so stubborn?
I wash the states that decided against it would share their findings with the remaining 9
maybe people can poon the states that have gotten rid of AP and ask them to send their info/thoughts to to the remaining 9?
  39. AnonLover Member

it seems to take a couple years for the approved SES providers to cycle thru the system. so not so much a select few that are dragging their feet, but rather they seem to gain 1-2 states per year, but loose 3-4 old ones & it takes awhile to see a difference in total head count of compromised states.
  40. RightOn Member

well do you think it is a good idea to ask those states that have more or less given AP the boot to share thier info with other states?
