    Basic Training for Protesting Scientology

I'm a new guy here but here is the video that sparked me to go further and learn what the war against Scientology is all about. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSJLvFOPUmw&feature=channel_page]YouTube - Anonymous Basic Protest Training[/ame]

LOL It's a good video but it makes me laugh.

The beginning sounds like someone it holding a vibrator up against the microphone. Don't ask me how I know what that sounds like.

Re: Basic Training for Protesting Scientology

I agree with everything on this video except for playing Chocolate Rain. After attending one protest where Chocolate Rain was played for over 9000 hours, I have to say that I feel it is cruel and unusual punishment to have to listen to it ever again.

    TY

how do you know what that sounds like ?

Re: Basic Training for Protesting Scientology

Hmmm... "each and every member of Anonymous"... I thought Anonymous didn't have members. This video has contradicted that.

Don't protest in front of a Scientology building, but across the street?? Why??

ANONYMOUS ARE NOT WIMPS and we protest not projest.

    I think dressing like this

    borat-mankini-62408-1.jpg

and carrying a Dianetics book into your local Org/Msn and asking for "Orditine" or something similar would be hilarious.
  25. Re: Basic Training for Protesting Scientology

it meant protest members not anon members, protesting in front of the building you might be on private property accross the street is safer 1. if your on a side walk its public, 2. its not viewed as an antagonistic act as protesting in right in front of the doors to the org would be considered
and there is nothing wrong with pro-jest, i mean look at how successful seinfeld has become being a pro-jest-er (ha ha see what i did thar?) :p

Re: Basic Training for Protesting Scientology

Do you understand the concept of a public thoroughfare sidewalk?

Pfffffft if I can walk (or regularly, STAND) in front of the Ft Harrison Hotel and chat with the concierge regularly, you can walk in front of a damn building.

Generally speaking scifag buildings do have sidewalks in front of them, midear.

Generally speakin--ahhfuckit. You faggot, the very act of protesting is intentional antagonism. If you don't want to hurt the scifags' feelings, stay the fuck home and cuddle your carebears.

    That wasn't funny.

Re: Basic Training for Protesting Scientology

The point of staying across the street is mostly aimed at dealing with the local police force. If you stand right at the door of the franchise, the cult can have you removed by claiming that you are "obstructing with daily operations". The police is more likely to shut you down. By staying across the street you are actually conforming to the rules and laws governing peaceful protests. The police is more likely to let you do your thing.

FYI- The sidewalk is considered "right-of-way" and is dedicated as such by the property owner. It is public but the property owner is responsible for it. That makes it a gray area as far as courts are concerned. Remember how Bill Maher was kicked out of a public square by the Mormon church in the movie "Religulous"? Don't leave it up to the police to figure these things out. More often than not, they will side with the group that isn't protesting.

Re: Basic Training for Protesting Scientology

SD squad sez "Hell no, we won't move across the street."

We stick to the shady side. Oddly enough, the cult is on the shady side. (c wut I did thar?)
Cops who ask us to move, they don't insist on it, and when we politely decline, they leave it.

Re: Basic Training for Protesting Scientology

I repeat, if I can hang in front of the Ft Harrison, and do it in a legally acceptable manner without blocking sidewalks or traffic, you can manage to do it right at your org or mission. The "rules and laws governing peaceful protests" don't say you have to stand across the road. Don't be a pussy.

    Also, welcome to 2009.

Re: Basic Training for Protesting Scientology

Different cities = different laws, different foot and auto traffic patterns, different easements. In my city, if you don't stand across the road, you'll get run over by a city bus or maybe even a rickshaw. Just sayin'.
  31. anonymous612 Member

Re: Basic Training for Protesting Scientology

Yes, but that's not a law, just a good idea.

Also, your post applies to Mr Ethics here, too.

Re: Basic Training for Protesting Scientology

Yeah. If you stand on Org property and not within the public thoroughfare, you might be on private property. But if you're not, you're not. But even if you're on public property Org staffers can still BAWWWWWWW and call the cops and claim you were trespassing. But if the cops are not stupid that won't work. And if the cops *are* stupid, neither side of the road is safe. Better to stay home and not risk your life protesting.

    Sometimes.
At Gold, when they're practicing Sprinkler Tech, it's safer on the opposite side of the road.... until runoff runs into the street and makes the whole thing unsafe.
Other side of the road is safer for ~ 10-15 minutes. And then after that no side is safe.

Even if its public, (or a public access easement) they can still claim you're trespassing and still try to have you arrested. Which will fail. If they fail enough times, the local police start getting annoyed ;)

To the Org, it is every bit as antagonistic.

To the cops, its only slightly more so. The US constitution protects antagonistic speech along with other annoying speech- so long as it doesn't actually harm people. The courts have generally ruled that protesting doesn't actually harm people.

Re: Basic Training for Protesting Scientology

protest where it makes sense to protest under local conditions.
    I.
If you're calm and confident and know where the legal property lines are, come a little closer.
If you're n00b and insecure and don't know how to talk to cops, stand where you feel safe.

    II.
If you're n00b and insecure and don't know how to talk to cops:
    learn the local ordinances
learn how to talk to cops. you may be surprised :)
make friends with the cops :)
    grow a pair
when you're ready, try step I. again.

Re: Basic Training for Protesting Scientology

I’m physically disabled, I can’t walk from a gathering point to the area where the protest is held, it’s too tiring. If there are seats or benches where the protest is held I can sit for hours holding a poster in one hand and my walking stick in the other. I can stand up and hand out leaflets from time to time but will need to rest frequently. I will probably need to use the toilet more than once during a protest that lasts for hours. If there is trouble I can run but get tired very fast and I fear either able bodied Anons would have to risk staying behind to protect me or I could end up alone facing a bunch of Scillons. On the positive side films of Scillons bullbating a disabled person would look very impressive.

I am fighting Scientology effectively online, my hands and arms are normal. Should I go to protests as well, please advise me?

    Check with your local cell.
Find out from THEM what the local conditions are.
Ask THEM how best you can help the effort, or what assistance they can offer you.
    _
If your cell is sparse or nonexistent - you'll be on your own.
I don't think WWP can really advise for you if its safe / not safe to start an independent campaign against these varmints...

Ask your friendly neighborhood local Anons what facilities exist nearby.
Or use Google Maps / Street View to survey for yourself.

Not really a problem. When Anons need to "go" they go, and do their thing and come back. With (or without) a buddy escort as conditions merit. You might be the escort someone else needs, to watch their back when they make a pit stop.

When Scientologists need to go, they pee their pants. They're not really allowed to do much else.

The worst "trouble" that ever happens is Scientologists running up and taking a swipe at protesters and then calling the police complaining they were attacked.

No running required, *ever*. If you can stay calm and cheerful in the face of insults and verbal threats, this is all the self-defense you need. Your locals are there for backup as much as you are for them. What the "extra muscle" affords is: moral support and more eyes watching. That's it.

always check your local laws before doing anything, because if you follow the law, the police will not harrass you
second, it's a good idea to let the police know your protesting and all that, they love having a heads up to these kinda things.

Or alternately if you don't follow the law, the police have an excuse to harass you.
