It seems to me that the challenge of using counter-violence in a measured and appropriate way would be so difficult that I doubt that there are very many people who could pull it off.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! OH MY GOD THAT IS SO FUNNY! When the fuck did the writer of this bullshit dream that up? Anarchists haven't accomplished dick!
Maybe not in that incident - but there is proof worldwide that in times of civil unrest and protest that agent provocateurs are routinely sent in to cause shit to justify a brutal crackdown. Happens every day. Catching them on video is important.
If they dont incite any violence, how do you expect them to justify their budget for cool new military gear?
Fuuu- inorite? That's why I don't bother with the Occupiers here. I heard all that stuff before and "imperialist puppet' doesn't sound any better in Vietnamese. Seriously, they talked like that and so do the pinko commie fags who have taken over the Occupation. It was inevitable. They're the ones willing to spend the most time "serving" the group.
They did during the French revolution, and through storming the Bastille though the price of bread isn't high enough (due to war debts and excessive govt expenditure and oppressing of the serfs), though some may have begun eating grass. But it did collapse the ruling order, unfortunately it gave rise to Robespierre and the terror which was even worse than living under the king. Is anyone at the occupy movement suggesting toppling the ruling order? I think its more of a case of reforming it.
Too bad that they don't clue into the fact that their aims and tactics accomplished dick for decades. Occupy, on the ground, might have been "hippies in tents" but they succeeded in capturing a large amount of commentary in the news with questions like "Why are we giving the rich a tax subsidy?"
They managed to steer the economic conversation for months. They put the 1% on the defensive. They narrowed the conversation to why the rich have privileges that the 99% don't. All in all, a ragtag group got quite a bit done. Kinda like Project Chanology.
btw Brabz how do you say "imperialist puppet" in Vietnamese? Also wondering about how you say, "Don't feed the troll."
Nah. They might've prompted discussion, but the 1% isn't "on the defensive". OWS isn't even a mild inconvinience to them. OWS might speak for the 99%, but even if all of them boycott everything to do with the 1%, it would barely make a scratch on their profits. It's a bitch but there you have it.
Here's Shen Tong, one of the organizers of the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989, from his book "Almost a Revolution." This is just after one of the first student marches... "We have completely achieved our goal today... Being here is a victory in itself. We walked past five universities over a long distance and reached Tiananmen Square. What we wanted to do was to use nonviolent means to protest the beating of patriotic students in front of Xinhuamen this morning, and to ask the government to reevaluate Hu Yaobong's ouster from the Party. We have not disrupted society, we have not halted traffic. We have done this in a very orderly way." (p. 182) Here's Wael Ghonim, one of the facebook organizers for the Egyptian revolution, in his book "Revolution 2.0:" This is rule Guideline #1 of 8 protesting guidelines: "The protests are peaceful. We are peace advocates and not advocates of violence. We are demanding our rights and must uphold the rights of others. We will not respond to any provocation from security forces and lose control. This is what they want us to do. One of the security forces' main goals is to portray the protesters as thugs who want to destroy the country. We must discipline ourselves and refrain from foolishness or any violations of the law, and we must not endanger any person's life or cause harm to any public or private property. If you see someone behaving violently, please circle around this person and take him out of the protests." (p. 157-8)
Another analysis of Occupy vs. Blac Block: http://open.salon.com/blog/addisonp...e_over_occupy_tactics_an_invented_controversy From the article: "Instead, it is better to view Occupy as part of a resurgent fight-back movement, which has the potential to inspire action and confrontation against capitalism on many different fronts, and ultimately aim for its overthrow. We are still a long way from there. That will require taking on the hard strategic questions: how to revive a fighting labor movement of organized and unorganized workers; how to build organization and leadership in the most oppressed communities; and how to take the “occupy” idea into the struggles at the workplace and against evictions and foreclosures, budget cuts and school closures."
*sigh* No it wouldn't. "The 1%"are, surprisingly, the richest and most influential people in the world. Having a job and a noble goal such as myself doesn't not, strangely enough, make you one of the most influential and rich people on the planet. Wish it did, but then "the 1%" wouldn't be the lovely exclusive treehouse that it is, would it? The people you megaphone-wielding little trend-starters are targeting are no more malevolent or evil than any of the morons amongst your ranks. They're just greedy or feckless. The people you ought to target are those the one's that work in the background, like Murdoch used to. Follow the money and you'll find them. Of course, people will just call you conspiracy theorists and ignore you but frankly you're being ignored already.
http://www.sandmonkey.org/2012/05/05/abbasiya-in-a-nutshell/ Here's a nice rant from Sandmonkey, who blogs about the protests in Egypt. My interpretation of this piece is that he wouldn't like the Black Bloc tactics either.
http://www.arabist.net/ This guy comments on Egyptian politics in general, including the recent violence (just scroll down to May 2nd)
damn fucking commie fag, go fuck lesbian squirrels. You and your type make me want to puke. (hint, this is a troll)
Black bloc, community organizers, socialist, black panther assholes, liberal douchebags? What's the difference. You got the chief community organizer in the White House. What do you expect?
Not that Barack was friends with someone like Bill Ayers. Black Bloc. you fucking retards. Until your president is friends with someone that bombed the NYPD and Pentagon, oh wait, nevermind....
I heard Mitt Romney was friends with someone who tortured dogs on the roof of their station wagon, but its probably just an ugly rumor.
Probably true though, just like the rumor I heard that most Republican politicians are having it on with gay guys on the side; doing 'evil' turns some people on.
