Boycot movies starring scientologists The following upcoming movies are featuring scientologists: John Travolta The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009) Old Dogs (2009) Bolt (2008) Hairspray (2007) Tom Cruise Men (2008) Hardy Men (2009) Valkyrie (2009) Tropic Thunder (2008) Will Smith The Trial of the Chicago 7 (2009) Seven Pounds (2008) Hancock (2008) Supporting these movies indirectly supports $cientology. My suggestion is to boycott these movies by: Not seeing them in the cinemas Not buying them on DVD Giving bad reviews Giving them poor ratings Telling people why they are crap If you really want to see them some people will tell you to just download it somewhere.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists Boycotts are an ineffective tactic for us IMO (we don't have the numbers). Online factual character assassination on the other hand.... (with the exception of Will Smith)
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists So many people go to any new movie regardless of who stars in it that even if all of Anonymous were to boycott these films, it wouldn't even make a dent in the actors' payments from the production.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists I doubt if I would have seen any of them, anyway. I wish they would release one so we could picket. Chickenshits.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists I don't think it's worth it either; boycotting won't just hurt the Scientologist star but also everyone else involved in production. Since Hancock is the only one I'd contemplate seeing, I refuse to compromise Jason Bateman's career! Seriously though, I'm not a fan of boycotting films; we don't know that profit money will go to the CoS and we're not against Scientology celebrities per se
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists I boycott cruises movies cos he's a twat....and Travolta cos he's a has been.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists 1 million people will still see those movies. Not much we can do, it's too much work for little reward. Don't worry, Tom has proved a scientologist can destroy his own career with a single couch jump. Others will follow.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists Sorry. I don't boycott movies because of "religion." Maybe Cruise simply because he's the face, but no one else. Even then, what will it matter? Do we have enough financial swagger to really make a difference?
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists we're not boycotting cause of the religon we are boycotting because those actors sapport a crimal organization^_^ if they were freezoners i would luv to watch their movies and give good reviews freezoners and scientolgist have the same religon GET OFF MY INTERNETZ OSA, FUCK OFF, IF U DON'T THINK ANON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE, THEN FUCK YOUR COACH!!!!!!! WE ARE EVERYWHERE, WORD OF MOUTH KICKS YOUR FUCKEN ASS lulz osa has what...30 members now? thats down from 150 ish lulz thats all thanx to us^_^ very nice difference i might addm more room to rome PUT FUCKEN FLIERS EVERYWHERE ANTI-COS IN THOSE MOVIE SEATS, RUN THREW THE THEATURE WITH CHA MASK FUCKEN HAVE FUN WITH IT!!!!! if u want streek^_^ TITS OR GTFO OSA!!!!!!!!!
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists economically, I don't think Anonymous could really put a dent in ticket sales. movie openings could serve as an opportunity for flyering.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists >>>>11 ...er...right... Either way this idea sucks balls and has been discussed ad infinitum.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists >>>11 Lawl. Aside of the fact that Anon is realistically unable to carry out an effective boycott, a successful boycott would have a negligible effect on the CoS (I mean, it's not like they get their money from ticket sales), and it really isn't lulzy (contrary to what you seem intent on believing). Attaching a postage-prepaid stress test to a brick and mailing to them is amusing and actually hurts their income; this does neither.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists Nthing that we lack the numbers to make an economic impact. having thousands of people boycotting a movie would only work in a small area. As spread out as we are we'll have no effect...and being that movies are an artificially rare good, our efforts in this venture would be doubly worthless. That said, I do believe we should boycott their movies on the grounds that they usually suck donkey balls. Well...atleast Tom Cruise's movies do.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists You need to take Will Smith and John Travolta off the list. Will Smith, though suspicious, is not a Scifag yet. Travolta is technically trapped because Co$ has some blackmail on him about a homosexual romp he had. Tom Cruise is fair game.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists I'm crazy about movies, they are like my drug, to boycott them would be a crime against myself, sorry not going to happen. besides like its been said, boycotts don't work.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists Works for me. I won't have to torture myself by sitting through movies that consistently SUCK. I boycotted Cruise long before he became a fucking shill for the cult, because he's pathetically terrible. Peoples' standards have really hit an all-time low, when Tom Cruise is lauded as a "great talent." Horseshit.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists Our own boycott wouldn't do much. Putting the message out there so others boycott him is different. I've spoken to a LOT of non-Anons at the protests who have all said that since his feverish video got leaked and did its rounds of the media, they'll never watch one of his films again. He's brought this upon himself. We're just making sure no one forgets.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists Anonymous doesn't do the boycott. All Anonymous can do is raise public awareness of that fact that when they support a $cientologist actor, director or production company, then that money ends up being funneled to the cult. In other words, it supports a racist, sexist subversive organization that practices slave labor, witness intimidation, malicious harassment, etc, etc. Let the public know that they have a choice to NOT support the cult.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists That sums up my thoughts, yeah. I already begun donning my armour of cultural contempt. doing this will be a great start to prepare yourself.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists For my English Language qualification i had to do a film review of Mission Impossible 2 and i severely criticised Cruise's acting with some subtle references to the Co$. Did i mention my teacher is an OT3... Anyway, while i am happy to boycott Cruise's and Travolta's films (they are both sub-par actors anyway) i will not boycott Will Smith because he is a good actor, a respectable person and not a scientologist. He supports them, but he supports all "religions" in general so its no major issue.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists I never watched anything with Tom Cruise or John Travolta to begin with. Not because they are scilons, just because their movies are shit.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists Boycotting won't work. HOWEVER. Going to see the movie and treating it as a raid can be useful
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists Fuck boycotts. Do people avoid Nick Cage movies because he soiled Superman by naming his son Kal-El? No, I avoid his movies because he is a douche bag and far from entertaining. Personal choice, but many others like him enough to watch his crap. Preaching is horseshit, I don't have a pulpit. Watch it, raid it, put it in the butt, just don't sit there and tell strangers what the fuck to do... its like trying to boycott gas for a day... most people can't do it, others don't give a shit, the few that care will look like a pretentious circle jerk. If you try to do more than you can, you will just fuck it all up.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists I wasn't gonna go anyways, lol. So YES....YES I will be boycotting
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists Considering Will Smith handed out free Sclion tickets to people who worked on the film, I say this is the perfect film to picket at. Or maybe rather across the street from. Tell people to go see another movie. Tell them to go see Iron Man again if they want a good alcoholic superhero film. Or Hulk. The other superhero film Wanted. Or Wall E. (Awwww.) Or even Zohan. Don't cause trouble for the theater, just that one movie. Let's deflate the Fresh Prince's ego. He's married into la castra crazy. He's pimping out the cult but says he's not in it. Let's be there opening night. Let's show Fresh Price he and his cult do not own July 4th weekend. :guyfawkes:
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists Oh and bonus points if you're wearing this mask in addition to Guy. chickenshop.co.uk Will Smith Mask Will Smith Mask Plus I forgot to mention the whole bit about Scientology talking about giving people superpowers. ("Will Smith can't FLY! " Has a nice ring to it.)
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists Crap.. I accidentally posted those last two anonymously. Well, more than usual. No wonder I couldn't edit it.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists So it may not be very effective but you should do it anyway IMHO. If you really have to see the movie and don't want to pay then use a p2p service to get it for free.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists Um. Tom Cruise's two newest movies, according to IMDB. Hardy Men Men Do I REALLY need to say anything?
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists Seriously though, am I the only person who thinks picketing movies obnoxious? This can only be seen as footbullets for us. Organizing boycotts would be stupid as we don't have the numbers to make an impact. If you must do something, go buy a ticket for another movie, go into the theater before people start piling in, and drop "you found the card"s.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists We shouldn't boycott. We should systematically reverse all advertising campaigns with our own brand of internet marketing with the lulz factor TM. We should bury those movies one by one and teach Hollywood that if they want to work with dangerous cults then it's to their financial detriment. As only we can.
Re: Boycot movies starring scientologists good point. i definatly think we should consider this, on a multinational scale. :anon:
