sorry i posted this thread too fast to describe whats going on.

anonymous toronto had a flash raid today, we go there and find 4 scientologists dressed in normal clothing handing out anti-anon flyers. they were a few blocks from the org and different anon followed them and quickly created signs. they are definitely going to be there handing out flyers again tomorrow so we're looking for the best way to counter-flyer/signs or slogans. ill definitely get video tomorrow, i couldnt make it to the raid today

i should have clarified. not all anonymous in toronto wear masks, they were definitely trying to blend in with us handing out flyers to people as we handed out ours. they weren't wearing their normal scientology uniforms and were trying to blend in as normal people.

How about making up a poster with OTIII or VIII info on it and following them around with it? Would it scare them away?

Are there any bylaws in Toronto about passing out literature on the street, that literature has to indicate who wrote it or where it's from? Might be worth calling the cops in advance.

Solution: plan in e-mails. That way a flash raid actually flashes, yes? I know that it would get hellish slow setting it up, but it would at least be reasonably private and secure. Also, play OT3 loudly.

A bit of clarification about what happened today.

Shortly after the fliering started, 2 scilons were seen with the yellow fliers shown above in the pictures. The flyer details Anonymous' hate crimes, who we are and our Epic Fails. Many pedestrians assumed the Scilons handing out the fliers were with us, which lead to some confusion. By the time I had left, there were about 6 roaming scilons moving up and down yonge street.

Through counter fliering like this they aren't only spreading black PR and confusing pedestrians, but it also drew many anons away from the org (I over heard one scilon say "Look at these guys, they'll follow us wherever we go. They're complete dumbasses")

A plan of action is definately needed to deal with this (but thank god the Toronto org is finally doing something about us fliering, it only took 3 months.)

As for the planning in emails, it wouldn't really fix the problem, since the scilons just send out the people once we get there.

And since OT III/VIII would be hard to fit on signs, and we can't play it on speakers without being charged with disrupting the peace we're kinda in the shitter solution wise. =/

Also, could a mod please fix the spelling of Toronto in the thread title.

Looks like you already found the solution. Follow them with a sign that says either what yours did or "This is a scientologist handing out lies".

Edit: Better yet, given their ages make it say, "SCIENTOLOGY CHILD LABOR POLICY IN ACTION".

It's also worth noting that we can't exactly ignore them because they're pretty much pointing us out as the hand the fliers to the pedestrians.

Most people would find a "church" making and handing out fliers about a group on the internet a little odd to say the least. I think this is foot bullet territory for the cult or at best a waste of time.

Keep in mind this is not anonymous vs scientology it is THE TRUTH vs Scientology.

To add, I overheard a scilon speak to a woman passing by as he gave out the black PR. She lifted her hand and showed that she had already received a flier or two from our actual guys, and he countered saying 'Oh, but did you get this one?', talking as if he had an extra flier she had not received from us.

As usual, he pretended I didn't exist, but later another anon brought up the disconnection policy, and seeing as how it made him immediately clam up, followed up with a 'Your family misses you. They still love you.' which I'm told caused him to nearly cry as he walked back into the org.

Apparently the effect didn't last long, we saw him back outside handing them out again a short while later.

EDIT: Also, to support earlier claims, yes, they were donning 'regular' clothes, such as a Nine Inch Nails shirt, for example, as well as some wearing shades to minimally cover their faces, to make it appear they were Anonymous members. We've NEVER seen them out of uniform before, so this was obviously the intention.

It won't help with getting your message out, but it might put a stop to this:

All you lot go masked. Bring a couple of "Why is this man lying?" signs. Use your imaginations. Create a clusterfuck. Whenever these lot run into something they don't expect, they seem to have a habit of freezing and/or reverting to direct application of tech (that is, bullbaiting, etc.). After a little bit of this you might be able to get on with your raid normally.

Hmmm... This is annoying, but easy enough to deal with.

The signs are a good response, but I think having Anons on point to point out to pedestrians that these are $cilons 'posing' as Anons handing out those flyers can result in epic footbullet.

Create literature that specifically addresses this issue that complements the flyers you normally pass out. Give them out with an "oh, by the way, $cilons are slandering us with black PR. Here's what they are saying and this is not true. Do you think this is the behavior of a real 'Church'?" WIN

Do both these things are you will come out on top. This reminds me of a time when I was explaining Fair Game to a group of ladies to justify why we all wear masks. Suddenly one of them tells me that there's this person taking my picture. I recognized the photographer as a $cilon and told the ladies this. They got the point real fast and told off the $cilon for me for a win.

First off: Scifag flier is about the only one that would encourage me to do my own research. I, of course, understand I/we are a minority.

Short notice prep for tomorrows raid? You don't have time enough to print new media I'm assuming, or even stick post-it notes to what you have so why not tell people, "Don't trust the <color> flier"? Reminiscent of Woodstock yes?

Still thinking short notice: Have a copy (one) of their propaganda on hand to show people.

This will play into the Spy vs Sci theme very well.

Really, fliers have a low turnover rate as far as getting people to read what you have to say. BUT if you're already talking to somebody, just a "yeah, we've been protesting them so they started dressing up and putting out flyers to make us look bad" while you talk to passersby will suffice. It's only as big a deal as you make it really. They're just trying to [strike]troll[/strike] bullbait you, Toronto.
And they look pretty fucking stupid for it. So let the ridiculousness speak for itself.

Dedicate the MINIMAL number of people required to counter their anti-anon BS. If they only send out one drone, only use one person to point them out. As long as people are still picking up your message, you're fine.

The important thing is to NOT let them dictate how your protesting works. If you focus on countering them, they've effectively distracted you from disseminating your message. If you have the resources to counter 'em one-to-one while still getting your message out, by all means do so.

If not -- do the best you can, but otherwise ignore them and make sure YOUR message gets out.

I know if feels good to do flash raids right outside of their orgs... but we (SF anons) have had great success educating the public in other high-traffic locations. We really do need to ask ourselves, "just because this is where they live and recruit -- should that dictate where we protest and educate?"

Basing our locations on their activities presumes THEY have made smart decisions (and puts us in the position of following their lead). I'm not saying we should ignore their efforts... but I am saying we should think outside of their box... always. You can hold up a sign saying, "this person is a Scilon"... or, be somewhere else handing out 1,000 fliers a day.

Just posting this here for people who aren't on IRC or have the same problem in other cities/towns.

Use chalk to tell people to only take fliers that aren't yellow, or tell them to ask about Xenu when they take a flier, etc.

No, because were making it look like being a scientologist is a bad thing ( i know it is but you get what i mean) however, lying is a bad thing and it gets peoples attention without being like "well... whats wrong with being a scientologist... OMG HAET CRIEMS".

Too be honest i was having a good time with them, i was following them around with my fliers, standing right beside them etc etc and when someone took one of their fliers i said "excuse me sir/miss, would you like to learn why scientology is spreading lies about us" and you wouldn't believe how many people gave me their fliers when they learnt it was from a scilon.

Yes I mentioned meeting one of these people at Young and College in the July 12 protest thread- I wasn't aware that there was a mini raid going on. I'm not sure the name of the guy but I swear I've seen a picture of him on AnonymousToronto but I can't seem to find it now.

We've done two off-site raids so far (the second one to hunt down one of their tables), and will possibly be doing another during the Pride parade depending on sidewalk conditions.

Toronto Org sucks at KSWing though, and now they're (reactively) handing out fliers that won't get anyone interested in Scientology or through the door for Dianetics. Way to go, Scientology!

Grrr! Smart move, cult. Seeing how the info in their flyer is mostly true (and anyone googling for "Anonymous" will indeed find /i/nvasions, holocaust shoops, Zippocat and other lulzy shit of that nature), we might have a bit of a problem. For now, isolate the infiltrators, and don't let pedestrians get their flyer first.

All in all, an interesting development. I might drop by the mini raid on Thursday after work -- wanna see those faux-anon plants in the flesh. :flop:

Remember guys, if they start to move away from their org DO NOT FOLLOW them. The only way their fliers could possibly make sense to the public is if they are in proximity to us. If they stand alone out there handing that shit out they look like a bunch of retards.
