The sheriff of Grant County, Glenn Palmer, invited the occupiers to a meeting in his county, and this was the trip that the FBI and State police interrupted with a traffic stop leading to one death. The group of militia was cut in half with some of them already in the Grant County meeting, unaware of the arrests and death.
. The state police and FBI did not share information about the planned traffic stop with Grant County because the sheriff was a militia supporter. When he learned of the road block he drove to the area with someone in the car with him, demanding information about the road block. The 911 operators didn't want to give out information because he may have had a militia member in the car with him.
Grant has a history of deputizing people after the fact. He deputized people who were arrested by BLM officers. The BLM called into 911 requesting assistance and Grant called back to say he had deputized the arrested men and they were on BLM land at his orders.
More boxes of dicks needed in Grant County
Your mixing up names "Grant" and "Palmer".
Grant County Sheriff is Palmer.
For some reason I can't stand Ted Cruz' face. But that is not a reason to vote against him.
I have been worried about Cruz being in the pocket of the Koch's Americans For Prosperity group. Koch groups are like, blah blah blah Freedom. But in fact they are corporate welfare parasites after free stuff from the government. Big subsidies and access to some Federal lands not enough. They want moar. So you know that "giving the land to The People" actually means, "giving the land to drillers, miners, and loggers."
So Cruz promises to give away Federal land in Nevada. Did he ask me if I was cool about that? No he did not. Yet as a US citizen, I have a small claim to that land. And I am not cool with handing it over to a bunch of losers who lie constantly to America.
Both Cruz and Trump are horrifying. Trump already has enough votes to negotiate the Republican direction, and Cruz believes God is on his side.

These are the yahoos from Idaho -' the 3%'
Not sure if ' daddy swore an oath' guy is from Idaho
Historians have estimated that between 15 and 20 percent of the white population* of the colonies were Loyalists, or about 500,000 men, women and children.
It's estimated that 60,000 Loyalists in total left after Revolutionary War, after their property was illegally confiscated by the Federal government.
If they'd been armed, then history might have been different, right?
* because that's who they were counting back then. /facepalm
Hmmm, that is an interesting perspective. I did not know ALEC and the Koch Bros. were dabbling in Utah. I'm interested in learning more.
Tried a search and immediately came up with this.
But on my iphone I could not find the Utah link which was a part of my search terms. But your point is well taken. Albeit a protracted conspiracy, but still having the nature you describe because of the death of LaVoy Finicum.
Never let the facts get in the way of a good story.
Well, you can't really say Finicum didn't ask for it.
The Oregonian has an analysis with animations and stuff, looks fairly solid:
GOP politicians and the occupation
"The out-of-town visitors presented themselves as wanting to help understand and, if possible, end the armed occupation at the refuge.
“I’m just looking at peaceful resolve,” said Nevada Assemblywoman Michele Fiore, a COWS member who was patched into the meeting by phone.
“That’s our intent,” agreed Shea, a state representative from Washington. “If there’s any opportunity to save life and prevent any further escalation of anything, I think we all agree we should take those opportunities.”
Oregon Republican State Rep. Dallas Heard also attended the meeting, however he says he is not a member of COWS.
The 90-minute conversation was recorded by participants at the Jan. 9 meeting and given to OPB.
On the recording, Harney County Judge Steve Grasty thanks the group for their concern, but asks them to stay away from the refuge. Grasty said the militants were showing signs of fatigue and defeat, and worried that a visit from lawmakers would reinvigorate Ammon Bundy and the rest of the occupiers."
"Those pleas fell on deaf ears. And Grasty’s prediction came true.
COWS representatives visited the refuge, which was closed to the public. The lawmakers acknowledge they fed the militants information gathered from that meeting, and militant leaders talked openly about what they learned from those disclosures. "
The issue of federal overreach in managing federal lands is very real, and deserved more than a clown show.
The Bundys don't want to face their wreckage in Nevada
Magistrate Judge George Foley Jr. entered not guilty pleas on behalf of each man during a sometimes contentious arraignment that featured cat-calls and cheers from about 30 Bundy backers and defendants' family members under watchful.."
Surprise surprize they want to be their own lawyers.
Cliven Bundy’s cattle have decimated the public lands they share with an endangered tortoise, and now both the cows and the turtles may be starving.
He overgrazed, now his vows are just ribs on hooves.
They didn't enter pleas so the judge is not releasing them on bail, also she refused to allow a lawyer, who is under ethics charges, practice in Nevada after the lawyer misinformed the court about those charges- saying it had been resolved.
Just when I was back to thinking of Ted when I heard Bundy...
"Seven children who were taken to perform for occupiers during the armed takeover of an Oregon wildlife refuge earlier this year have been placed in the temporary custody of Kansas child welfare officials."
"According to testimony from a 2 1/2 hour hearing, five of her children bolted Friday as she climbed in the shower. They removed guns from the house before getting a ride from a neighbor to the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office."
The brilliant legal strategy of the Bundy legal team is to sue the U.S. Government and name the judge in the suit then demand the judge recuse himself
Inside the Michigan Militia
Published by VICE on May 16, 2016
In 2008, the first black president was elected in the United States and the worst financial crisis in almost a century brought the world’s economy to its knees. Since then, a form of domestic terror has been on the rise in America and abroad. But it’s not the kind of terror we’re used to hearing about.
Militia groups and neo-nationalists here and around the world have been growing bolder, more popular and more powerful. VICE's Ben Makuch investigates the origins of these militia groups and explores the driving force behind the militia movement today. In order to do so, he travels to the place where it all began: the Michigan State militias.
Looks like transplanted Nevada ideology doesn't work in Oregon.
"Send them all back to Idaho."
“I cannot represent Cliven for free. I’m not independently wealthy,” Bundy’s lawyer Joel Hansen wrote in an email to Ivory. “I understand from news articles that the Koch brothers are helping to fund Cliven’s efforts to return our lands to the states. I would like to speak with someone about helping to fund the legal fees associated with this case.”
Will the Koch brothers pay legal fees for 19 tards?
They'll tell him to try GoFuckYou.
Ammon Bundy switches to a new lawyer as the old one is embroiled in bar complaints: http://registerguard.com/rg/news/lo...alheur-national-wildlife-refuge-case.html.csp
Seems Ammon may slowly be waking up to there being a real world out there.
Ryan Bundy can't have his guns in jail and can't see his brother, also they won't let him use Facebook. There is no wifi but whatever.
My rights are being violated. My right to life is being violated. All of my First Amendment rights are being violated. My right to freedom of religion is being violated. I cannot participate in religious activities and temple covenants, and wear religious garments. I could wear them at Henderson, but MCDC is depriving me of the right to wear them. My right to freedom of speech is being hampered by monitoring and recording. My right to freedom of assembly is being violated; I am not allowed to see my brother and move about.
Yesterday, I attempted to discuss these issues with the U.S. Marshals, and they said that these were simply the jail rules. I asked them specifically about if there was any reason for the ‘keep separate’ orders. In Henderson, my brothers and father were housed together. Up here, they make efforts to keep us separate. This violates my right to freedom of assembly. My Second Amendment rights are being violated. I never waived that right.
Crazy talk caused by his lack of Magic Underwear.

Kook Suing Idaho DOT Because Ten Commandments Don't Say He Needs A License
Peter Jensen of Athol, Idaho has very cleverly noticed that the Ten Commandments hardly mention anything about needing a driver’s license to operate a car. According to TV station KREM, Jensen only recognizes the Ten Commandments as law, so as a result, he has no real license plate on his unregistered Ford Expedition. That’s also why he’s suing the Idaho Transportation Department for 5.6 million dollars.
It’s actually more specific than that; he’s suing the particular employee that had to send him the letter reminding him that according to the state of Idaho, all his driving privileges were revoked, and he wants that $5.6 million in gold and silver coins, because he thinks normal U.S. currency is “a fiction.”
Athol is next to Hayen Lake compound - white supremacists. Hayden Lake disintegrated after a suit by some ordinary people they beat and held captive for a driving on the wrong road. This guy must be a hold out. He misspells Yahweh as Yahuweh pronounced Yah Hoo! Way.
So if he eats pork, we can stone him, right?
Bundy Bro Arrested For Trying To Blow Up A Building! But Don’t Worry, He’s A ‘Patriot’
By Robyn Pennacchia, Wonkette, June 24, 2016
In the latest example of what the PC Right simply refuses to call “Crazy Ass White Dude Terrorism,” William Keebler, a friend of deceased Bundy henchman LaVoy Finicum and the leader of a not-so-well-regulated militia in Utah, has been arrested after an attempt to blow up a Bureau of Land Management building in Arizona. No specific reason for the planned attack has been given, but it is probably fair to assume it has something to do with being mad that the government won’t give him or someone else some free land for their cattle to graze on. Also Tyranny.
A few FBI agents infiltrated Keebler’s militia, the “Patriots Defense Force,” which we are pretty sure was located in a cookie factory inside a hollow tree (on public land, natch). They were told to train and prepare for some “anti-government action,” as the group was planning on “going on the offensive.”
Keebler had initially planned on blowing up another Bureau of Land Management building in Salt Lake City, Utah, but decided against it due to the fact that there were likely to be a lot of people in that area. He then decided on the BLM building in Arizona — located, curiously, in Mount Trumbull, a town founded by Cliven Bundy’s great-grandfather — as it was a more remote location. Mount Trumbull is also very close to where LaVoy Finicum’s cattle continue to graze on public land despite not having a permit to do so. Lovely area! Great for the kids, we hear! And a terrific setting for a wingnut fantasy novel, too.
According to the complaint, “Keebler made it clear he didn’t plan on blowing people up for now, but he wanted his group to be prepared to escalate things, and take people out if necessary.” You know, because public land use is definitely an issue worth killing some people over. He is just so darned patriotic! It’s so weird that they are even arresting him, because obviously he is doing this for America.
Anyway, one of the FBI agents, conveniently, was put in charge of making the two bombs — one to blow up the building, and another to use against law enforcement agents should they try to stop them. Which I am sure means that there will be lots of news on the TV today about how men like Keebler are making it all unsafe by making it difficult for officers to do their jobs, and how rural white men really need to show more respect for the police.
Of course, when Keebler attempted to blow the building up this Saturday evening, nothing happened. He just kept pressing the detonator device trying to get it to go off, and eventually gave up and went back to Utah. He was then arrested on Wednesday, and faces five to 20 years if convicted. But hey! He still did kind of make a point, and I bet you right now that the Bureau of Land Management is totally thinking “You know what? This guy has a point, and it was very well articulated, so let’s just give all this public land to these cattle ranchers free of charge!”
