Call to Action In Recognition of the International Day of Support for Political Prisoners in Iran
    Washington DC – 19 June 2011 – 1pm

Assembly at the Islamic Republic of Iran Interests Section, 2209 Wisconsin Ave NW, at 1:00 followed by a march at 1:30 to M St in Georgetown to raise public awareness about political prisoners and executions in Iran.
In Iran, thousands of political prisoners endure unspeakable suffering on a daily basis.
“In the time of my solitary confinement in ward 209, I was burned by approximately 60 cigarettes on my legs, testicles and feet. I am only given one meal a day. I have lost 51 kilos, and 12 of my teeth have been almost completely broken by blows with boots, as has my nose, which bleeds permanently.”
    - testimony of Houtan Kian, political prisoner and defense lawyer of Sakineh Ashtiani
In Iran, the Islamic Republic executed an average of 2 people per day in the month of May this year.
Approximately 200 executions have been officially reported thus far in 2011, although the actual number of executions is believed to be much higher.
We do not tolerate the crimes of the Islamic regime in silence.
We Demand Immediate and Unconditional Freedom of All Political Prisoners in Iran.
    Not One More Execution!
Call issued by the Washington DC Ad-Hoc Committee for the International Day of Support for Political Prisoners in Iran (Action for Democracy and Human Rights in the Middle East, Mission Free Iran, Unity for Justice & Democracy in Iran, and Women’s Alliance for Change in Iran)
