    Chicago, IL

    On the 13th!

    Plans for Decemberween?
Suggested theme is Toy Soldiers and Scientologoy's mistreatment of children. But it seems the themes are becoming friendly suggestions these days, heh.

But we have a special opportunity: With the comical play coming to Chicago, we have some big opportunities to make an epic impact!
    A Red Orchid Theatre
So what do Chi-anons want to do with this? Does anyone want to attend?

A VERY MERRY UNAUTHORIZED CHILDREN’S SCIENTOLOGY PAGEANT
    November 17 – December 28, 2008
    Previews November 14 & 15 at 8pm
    Fridays At 8:00pm
    Saturdays At 7:00pm & 9:00pm
    Sundays At 3:00pm

Anything else holiday-ish we could do?

    Re: Chicago, IL

Chi-anons, I think this is a big opportunity. Previews are ,and tomorrow and it opens on Saturday. Get some anons down to the theater asap and talk to the artistic director Guy Van Swearingen. He will know what is going on. The theater is tiny so you should be able to talk to him. May be you will meet robotevil whose daughter is being fair gamed.

You can email guy at irot@aredrochidtheatre.org

Also, harpoons to the metro desk at the Tribune are useful:

    chicagoland@tribune.com

I spoke with the desk and they wanted to know if Anon will be protesting. I told them we just found out, but that Anon will decide what is appropriate to do.

This is a scandal and an outrage. Do eet!!!!!

    Re: Chicago, IL

Thanks maorxenu! Anyone want to do help be an informative presence before, during, and after the play? If so, we should get into contact with the manager to make sure he approves.
  5. moarxenu Member

    Re: Chicago, IL

Correction: email address to the theater should read arot@aredorchidtheatre.org

    Also update:

Guy Van Swearingen was the artistic director until last year or early this year and remains part of the ensemble. Kristen Fitzgerald is the new artistic director.

Interestingly, Guy is a full time firefighter with the West Garfield Park station. Kristen also manages a theatre project aimed at removing the stigma of mental illness from children.

These deserve email just to thank them for having the courage to put the play on.

    Re: Chicago, IL

    Contacted and....

    WE HAVE APPROVAL!!!

I spoke with Kirstin Fitzgerald (the new art director for this production). Very nice lady! :)
She has reported she received the same info and problems during the New York production. I hope we get a chance to meet her in person.

She has respectfully requested if we could do this under the following conditions:
    1) No Guyfawkes masks please. The reason is that she does not want to scare the children actors or the customer base away, lol. Winter gear (scarfs, glasses, hats, etc...) are okay.
    2) The street is public, but if we can do most of the protesting while not blocking the theater, that is fine. Across the street is ideal, but please don't block the theater.
    3) Call her before the scheduled date.

I need to call her and let her know tomorrow of the final date, but I am assuming most people are good for the 15th at 7:00 pm? I am game as long as others are.

Red Orchid Theater, 1531 N. Wells Street, Chicago IL

You can reach it on the Red Line by getting off of Clark, then walking to N. Wells
Or you can reach it on the Purple/Brown line by getting off of Sedgwick, then walking to N. Wells

    Listen
under NO CIRCUMSTANCES be unmasked at this event ( unless attending as a regular patron)
the Scifags in Chicago HAVE recieved many out of state reinforcement from FLA

Chifags have been handing them their asses here, and they REALLY want to bloody our noses
we have been pretty fair game free since they are shit scared of Chifags and their contacts but they HAVE stepped up their game recently

lets learn from the towns that got lacks and sloppy

    and NOT do that

    Re: Chicago, IL

This is great news. This is a great opportunity as long as you are careful about identity. It is interesting to know Kristen was aware of fair gaming in NY also. I hope the Chicago media picks up on this.

    Re: Chicago, IL

Can't make it the play meet up. I'll be there on a different weekend. With some buddies.

In a weird way, it's fortunate that this came to our attention (even if it means the family is being fair gamed), because I forgot about this play. Thanks for reminding me, scientologidiots!

Anyway, I'll be at the main protest on the 13th. I'm going to bring some of those emergency packs of handwarmers, if it's cold.

    Re: Chicago, IL

Thanks for the warning Daywatch. I am awaiting confirmation from other Chifags to make sure I am not going to the event alone. But in all spirit of the protest i say: BRING THEM ON!!!!

Good luck and Xenu speed, Chifags!!

  16. Re: Chicago, IL

alright, so should we spread the word on our next protest about the pageant? If so, we can have more time to make flyers and signs to support it, instead of using a single sharpie and the back of a sign at the last minute lol

    Re: Chicago, IL

Was thinking that would be a good idea. I think we had ideas on seeing if we can get donations for this production as well. Plus Meatwad suggested Anons can return every weekend to promote the play. We'll see what others think.

    Re: Chicago, IL

This is great. I have been wondering how to support you guys. Donating to the Red Orchid is an excellent way to support Kirsten Fitzgerald and the production.

I think it would be great to show up every weekend to promote the show. Isn't the theater in Old Town. A lot of foot traffic I would imagine.

There also remain some mysteries. robotevil reported his daughter and others were being fair gamed and we still don't have clarity on the issue.

    Re: Chicago, IL

Okay ChiAnons. I've been tossing around the press release in my head. I have some ideas for it:

    1) Promote the The Very Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant
    2) Scientology collaborating with Amazon.com to block the book of a former scientologist

I'd like to include those. What do you think?

    Re: Chicago, IL

And here is the press release. Yes there is copypasta involved. But it works. Let me know of any parts you want to edit or take out:

On December 13th, Anonymous will once again appear world wide in our ongoing effort to reveal the unfunny truth about the Church of $cientology. Expect Anonymous to appear in Chicago, in Grant Park at 11:00 am. Anonymous of Chicago will be giving Chicago residences the opportunity to learn of recent media which insightfully satires the cult or reveals inside information.

First, Anonymous will be promoting the musical: “A Very Merry UNAUTHORIZED $cientology Pageant.” This musical was pitched about a year ago and has been shown in other major cities in the U.S. such as Los Angeles and New York City. Currently being shown in the Red Orchid Theater, Anonymous was fortunate to be amongst the audience members during its premiere show, and Anonymous agrees…it is hilarious. 

This musical, performed mainly by children, satires the life story of the cult’s founder, L. Ron. Hubbard. Yet at the same time, it reveals the illegal and destructive practices of this dangerous cult. Examples include $cientology’s expensive cost for their “religious services in the form so-called “donations,” there litigious and hostile nature towards critics, and their recruiting techniques aimed to target wealthy and vulnerable masses to join them. Anonymous will be promoting this production.

Information on this fantastic production can be found on this website:
A Very Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant
And here is the Red Orchid Theatre Website: A Red Orchid Theatre

Secondly, an attempt to ban the sale of an important new book has been brought to our attention. This conspiracy of censorship is part of an ongoing campaign by the cult of $cientology to suppress information about its activities and operations.

Author John Duignan is a highly placed $cientology defector. His new book called 'The Complex' is already making news around the world. It is the first time a book has been written by a senior member of $cientology's elite paramilitary.

'The Complex' contains first-hand accounts of the brainwashing techniques employed by $cientology to control the minds of its members, eyewitness reports of the inhumane methods used inside $cientology's punitive labor facilities, and many other examples of the brutal treatment the cult extends to its members.

$cientology does not want you to hear John Duignan's story. $cientology wants you to remain blind to the damning information it contains. The cult's leadership fears an informed public. They do not want you to buy this book.

$cientology has earned notoriety for its sinister attempts to suppress access to the testimony of journalists and cult victims. If harassment does not intimidate, if intervention by celebrity Scientologists fails to influence, then litigation and terror tactics are used by the cult to threaten and coerce individuals and companies alike.

Amazon in particular is no stranger to $cientology's campaign of media manipulation. Previous decisions by Amazon to censor books and delete reviews that are critical of $cientology have been exposed and documented on the Internet.

In this case, Amazon has withdrawn "The Complex" from sale in the UK following a recent all-hands company meeting attended by Tom Cruise. Sources suggest a threat of legal action issued by a $cientology agent has been received by the book's publishing company in a bid to prevent distribution.

Anonymous will not allow any attempt to bury this most extensive revelation of $cientology's inner workings to succeed.

To the agents of $cientology responsible for ongoing censorship operations, we say this. Your failed action to contain the infamous Tom Cruise video on Youtube was the catalyst that brought Anonymous onto the streets. You demonstrate an inability to learn from the past. Suppressing critical testimony creates new opponents and drives an escalating demand for full disclosure of the facts about your abusive and obsessively secretive organization.

Anonymous is watching. The public will be alerted whenever you seek to conceal information that belongs to all of us. This is just the beginning. You cannot hide from the internet.

    Re: Chicago, IL

Just a tad OT...but was wondering if they have a production in Los Angeles or Orange County?
  22. Re: Chicago, IL

    Minor spelling/grammar edits inline.

  23. Re: Chicago, IL

I think they were already here, but I don't know how we freaking missed it.
  24. moarxenu Member

    Re: Chicago, IL

For press release revision: change "satires" to "satirizes". Satire so far is only a noun. Verb form is "to satirize".

Actually, "insightfully" is a word so it is ok to use. Otherwise, it looks good. Great job Chi-anons at unrelenting enturbulation.

Thanks, corrections made from here and revisions appearing on chicagosaysno. Any revisions to the release content itself people would like to make?

    Re: Chicago, IL

Suggestion I put on Chicagosaysno. With Daywatch's info about Scifags reinforcements sent to the midwest, was thinking we can prepare for Black PR and protest sabotage. We could bring some leaflets emphasizing fairgaming methods with Paulette Cooper. I also intend to bring a sign with big letters "THIS IS A SCIENTOLOGIST". How does that sound, just in case?
