  1. Chicago Postgame - Dec. 11th, 2010

Well, I'm not gonna lie, the weather sucked today. We knew precipitation was coming, so we were actually hoping it to be a bit colder so we'd get snowed on. But no luck, it was a cold rain all day long. That made it one of the more challenging protests we've done to date. Still we had a handful of people out there for some good, clean fun and a few hours of getting the message out, at least.

We were at an intersection near our org this month, but not right in front of it, due to some ongoing legal stuff about how close we're allowed to get. Like usual, the place seemed fairly dead except for some staff walking around. I understand there were some guys from Flag in town too, and I'm pretty sure at least a few of them saw us, so yay for that bonus. They were no doubt trying to squeeze out more money, but I don't know how many people around here they have left to ask.

The org's appearance was actually was actually looking pretty good for a change. I think the decoration of the pole in front of their building was done by the city, but there were some Christmas trees and stuff inside the shop windows which looked cute. Mediocre photos:

Oh wow, bravo for braving the elements!!

Must be daunting for the org to see Anons even in such bad weather.

Hoping you got back in the warm..

    You were missed Dra.

Highlights for me included getting the chance to talk (well, more like speak at) three new Scilons who I'm pretty sure were there in association with the Flag event scheduled for later that night. I waited for them to cross the street back to the Org after their lunch and helped escort them across. :) I know. Very thoughtful of me.

Later on Paladin and I headed off to Starbucks for a short respite and, as fortune would have it, we crossed paths with Bob. I called out his name and as I had my mask off he actually looked willing to talk. I asked him why OTs were being made to retake the Basics. His response? Cuz they like it.

Oh, and I had a very interesting phone call just prior to the protest. If things work out, it could very well lead to something I think has been severely lacking here in Chicago.

    Until next time...
  15. Re: Chicago Postgame - Dec. 11th, 2010

What did you say to them?

Yeah, I heard some funny anecdote about that.

From what I heard, at first Bob was like Heyyy :D at hearing his name called.
Then he was like ?:l trying to figure out who you were, because he didn't recognize you without the mask.

We saw Bob at the intersection too (I guess that was right after he talked to you), but he wouldn't look at us or our signs. He had his blinders on. Hopefully he comes around a little bit, though. He started off so hostile towards me that I think him not freaking out every time he sees us would be a step in the right direction.

Fortunately for me, I did not get trenchfoot, even though my shoes and socks were drenched.

Boots are a must in wintertime, in my opinion. Otherwise, one misstep in a slush puddle means it's goodbye toes for the next 4 hours.

I want to thank Kevin Freeman and the Honk Sign Lady for joining us. I know you guys voted for going to the park this month. Thanks for supporting those of us who wanted to go to the Org on such a wet, cold, nasty day.

    Re: Chicago Postgame - Dec. 11th, 2010

Just your usual. Why are OTs having to redo the Basics? Why is Miscavige beating people up? Why did Rinder blow? One of the ladies said something in a foreign language to one of the others as I walked with them. I don't think it was in response to anything I said. She might have been pointing something out to her colleague. The lady walking in the front seemed to me to be Sea Org (gut feeling) and she had a worried look on her face the whole time. That was fun. I'm glad we were there to welcome them to Chicago.

I declare you doth speak the truth! He appeared friendly at first as I let out a hearty "BOB!," but then as he realized what I was asking him about OTs having to redo the Basics his countenance changed. But not so much that he went into full robot mode. He at least gave an answer to one of my questions which, if I recall correctly, is only the second time that's happened there. Progress!

And I forgot about this. Now that I'm starting to recognize names and faces I was able to call out a personalized greeting from Anonymous to Jesse from across the street. He looked over and, upon realizing who we were, gave Paladin and I the ole middle finger salute disguised a scratching his nose routine. If I had an auditor, I'd want it to be him.

This doesn't include the rainiest and nastiest parts of the day, because I was starting to get worried about water damage to the camera...

I think the photos of this "raid" by "anonymous" were shopped. I just read that Scientology defeated anonymous and sent the 3 dastardly villians to prison.

The date wasn't suggested on the 1st post of the thread but we normally protest on the 2nd Saturday of each month. That would be January 8th.
