    Los Angeles Times: Scientology head's father was spied on, police report says

    * * * * * BEGIN EXCERPT * * * * *

    For 18 months private detectives tracked every move made by the father of David Miscavige, leader of the Church of Scientology, as they eavesdropped, spied on his emails and planted a GPS unit on his car, according to police records.

    The church paid the two detectives $10,000 a week through an intermediary, the records indicate, all because Miscavige feared that his father would divulge too much about the organization's activities.

    * * * * * BEGIN EXCERPT * * * * *

    The surveillance of Ronald Miscavige Sr., a longtime Scientologist who had recently parted ways with the church, was described by Florida private eye Dwayne S. Powell, after he was arrested in July 2013 near Milwaukee with two rifles, four handguns, 2,000 rounds of ammunition and a homemade silencer in his rented SUV.

    Seriously, you have to read the entire article.

    * * * * * BEGIN EXCERPT * * * * *

    Once, while tailing Miscavige on a shopping trip, Powell and his partner watched him grasp his chest and slump over while loading his car. After his arrest, Powell told police he'd thought Miscavige was having a heart attack and might die. He said he phoned his intermediary for instructions.

    Two minutes later a man who identified himself as David Miscavige called him back, according to records.

    "David told him that if it was Ron's time to die, to let him die and not intervene in any way," the records state, noting that the apparent emergency passed "and nothing further happened."

    ‘Let him die': Scientology leader David Miscavige had private eyes watching his father, say police

    * * * * * BEGIN EXCERPT * * * * *

    Scientology denies that Powell was working for Miscavige, but that’s a clever dodge. As Mike Rinder has explained to us in the past, Scientology PIs are hired by attorneys who work for the church so they can say they don’t work directly for Scientology.

    We’re working to have much more on this story for you in the morning.

    David Miscavige must be terrified of his father to pay PIs $520,000 a year to spy on him.

    Did you read that IRS?

    A tax-exempt "religion" spent half a million dollars a year to spy on the leader's father!

    Holy Crap!
    This is getting fucking good.
    I think Poodle better call his Italian suit guy and have him make him a new suit in ORANGE.
    Or give Columbia a call and gas up the Failwinds. Looks like there's big trouble on the horizon and Poodle tears will be delicious.

    Cops Say David Miscavige Spent $10K a Week Spying on His Elderly Father | Gawker

    Scientology leader David Miscavige was apparently so paranoid he hired two private detectives to keep tabs on his father and advised them to "not intervene in any way" if the 79-year-old had a heart attack.

    According to the Los Angeles Times, police records indicate the church paid two detectives $10,000 a week to read the old man's email and tap his phone calls. Miscavige was reportedly worried his father, Ron — who had left Scientology two years prior — might divulge negative information about the church.

    The End Of The Road For David Miscavige

    By Mike Rinder

    The article concludes:

    This proves everything that has been said about how Miscavige and Co. “respond to critics” are lies. No private investigators. No spying. No intimidation tactics. No smears.

    These are not “claims from bitter disgruntled apostates” who “have an axe to grind” or are “making money.” These are COURT documents from police interviewing the PI’s they caught spying on Ron Miscavige Snr while carrying silenced rifles, handguns and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

    And even in the face of this Miscavige STILL lies and has his attorney mouthpieces claim he has no involvement.

    The difference between him and his “critics” is that we may have lied on behalf of scientology in earlier times — he continues to lie on behalf of himself to this very second.

    The church always claims “Where are the police reports?”

    Here is the answer.

    Even the most ardent koolaid drinker has to think twice about these facts being laid bare.

    And to this day Ron Miscavige Snr has said NOTHING about his son or scientology publicly. So his sociopathic son cannot claim that he is a “church attacker” and “trying to destroy our religion.” No, it’s clear for all to see that David Miscavige is driven purely by fear and vindictiveness.

    The shitstorm isnt over. It’s just beginning.

    UPDATE: We’ve obtained a copy of the court file on Dwayne Powell’s weapons charge regarding his illegal silencer. As the LA Times story indicates, Powell was found with weapons and the silencer when the police responded to a neighborhood complaint about his surveillance work. He was facing a felony, but after cooperating with police and talking about working for Miscavige, his indictment was dropped and he was allowed to enter a pre-trial diversion program. Here’s the relevant court paperwork on that. Scroll to the end for the indictment itself…

  18. LA Observed - LAT: Scientologist-in-chief had his father followed and bugged

    * * * * * BEGIN EXCERPT * * * * *

    David Miscavige, the creepy grand poobah of the Church of Scientology, reportedly had private investigators spy on his father, place a GPS tracker on his car and monitor his computer activities, the LA Times' Kim Christensen reports. That's not the most potentially outrageous part. The Times story also says that when the investigators called in a report that the target, Ron Miscavige, was having a heart attack, they got a call back from David Miscavige saying not to intervene. "David told him that if it was Ron's time to die, to let him die and not intervene in any way," according to police records from the arrest of the private investigator in Wisconsin in 2013.

    I think another delicious thing that will eventually happen out of all this exposure, is that people who are/were cult sympathizers and shills will have no choice but to distance themselves and or come forward to save their own butts. The cloak of protection that Poodle has in different states will start to crumble even more.
    Granted there are always people out there who will do anything for a buck and their cages can not be rattled and the sweet smell of money will be their own demise...
    BUT as things start to heat up more and the media and hopefully the government gets involved (WAY fucking over do) finger pointing will start to happen and we will hear the canaries start to sing.

    So I wonder how happy I will be if Jeff Stone is ever questioned about his dealings with the cult, now that he is a LOT more transparent with his new job as apposed to his comfy Riverside County gig. Did I say the local media should contact Stone and ask him a few questions about his dealings with Poodle and that stupid ordinance and ask his opinion on the latest Poodle having his father watched and "letting him die" report? Oh hell yah!
    You know just how curious the media or say someone running against him or people who want him out of office can be. Oh the lulz that can be had!

    And I hope the media or whomever does not stop there. They can contact Sherriff Baca and other LA cops, like Ring and any others who were ever involved with Scientology.

    Sometimes the media has to be pointed in the right direction. So hmmmm, I wonder who has VAST knowledge of all the shills and "dirty dealings" that have been going on over the years? Who will be the pointers? Wasn't there a thread on WWP a long way back that was dedicated to the subject of COS shills?
    Tone40 all the way mofos! :D

    Scientology HBIC David Miscavige Spent $10K A Week Spying On Father | The Frisky

    Last paragraph:

    CoS loves to write off their most vocal critics as just bitter ex-members making up lies, but Powell is not and has never been a Scientologist, and has no reason to make up such a story, especially one that fits with the elder Miscavige’s claims to police. Unfortunately, current members of Scientology are content to put on blinder and plug their ears to any and all negative information about the Church and its leader — there’s even a word for it in Church doctrine: entheta. Members are basically brainwashed into believing that any interaction with entheta will fuck up their spiritual progress, which is why you have a guy like John Travolta downright refusing to even entertain the notion of seeing a documentary like “Going Clear.” Nothing about the Church of Scientology will change until Miscavige is removed from his position, and as he has pretty much driven out anyone who poses a threat to his power, it is going to take outside, and likely legal intervention — an arrest? — to make that happen.

    This happened two years ago so why is it being revived? Could it be to pave the way for the IRS to revoke their tax-exempt status? I'll tell you how this might play out. All that is needed for the IRS to take away the Church's tax-exempt status is to prove that its funds are not being used exclusively for religious purposes. This is a clear example of it and it does not matter what the intentions of spying on Ron Miscavige are, so long as it was not for religious purposes. They might have been harassing him or David Miscavige might have ordered it to be done to protect his father. Either would be non-religious purposes and even just this $520,000 per year paid out to these detectives could entirely lose them their tax-exempt status. I would like to think that this is a sort of preparation for the public before the IRS move in.

    wait, Ron Miscavige said he didn't have a comment, but that he was upset to learn about this news. (not verbatim)
    Can that be considered speaking out? His comment certainly goes against DM! ;)

    In the LAT story, it named Michael Hertzberg as Miscavige's personal lawyer. Last year, Monique Yingling was also a personal lawyer, possibly some others--I'll check.

    Nice to see that trouble is starting to brush against his inner defenses.
