"Civil disobediance"

  1. Civil Disobedience (Resistance to Civil Government) is an essay by Henry David Thoreau that was first published in 1849. It argues that people should not permit governments to overrule or atrophy their consciences, and that people have a duty to avoid allowing such acquiescence to enable the government to make them the agents of injustice. Thoreau was motivated in part by his disgust with slavery and the Mexican-American War.

I don't know if anybody on this forum has brought up this essay on non-violent resistance to unjust governments. While this was written about the American government, it translates to all governments. It has been used by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in his quest for civil rights for African-Americans in the 1960's. Also by Mohandas Gandhi in his fight for independence from British rule.

I'm including the link to the full text version. Maybe somebody can translate it to Farsi? With the November 4th march coming up this might give inspiration to all the brave protesters who take to the streets.
