Polls are subject to corruption, that we can have evidence of!

For me, as just one point, it would be interesting to see a column graph of after which level of auditing most people exited the cult. My guess would be after OT3 but hey what do I know?

Re: CofS Exit Survey is now Live!

thks for that thought, thats a very good pt... i'll see if i can find a way to incorporate that into the advanced reporting file this time around.

OT8Mike - i'm a still trying to grok the best way to get at the point of interest you brought up, moar on that thought coming later.

Re: CofS Exit Survey is now Live!

i couldnt figure out a slick way to do this with the basic/advanced reporting tools, but i think the following graph is getting at the same kind of thing, as best can be gotten from data... brought to us compliments of the exes over on ESMB who have begun to study the current batch of results:

Re: CofS Exit Survey is now Live!

The difference between Clear and OTIII does not seem to be statistically significant anyhow. What I see in the graph is a reflection of the general distribution of people in CoS: Most people at the lower levels, fewer higher up. A distribution like that would be what to expect if the deflections where random, independent of grade.

However, if I remember the CoS statistics I have seen, the graph looks a bit top-heavy. If the graph where simply a reflection of the distribution of grades on CoS, I would expect more people in the lower grades and less clears and above. I have two suggested explanations:

1) There is a lower chance of people blowing at the lower levels (i.e. your survey is picking up a real life trend).
2) There is an increased chance that people blowing at higher levels are more pissed at the CoS, and thus more likely to seach the internet for critical information and completing your survey (i.e. your survey suffer from systematic data bias).

Keep up the good work!

Thanks, I just realized I'd forgotten to post those images here.

I'm fascinated by how many made it to OT III. I never knew that many people who did. Easily less than 10% of the staff.

Re: CofS Exit Survey is now Live!

That's awesome, thanks!
Of course as the levels are higher fewer and fewer people get there, but I see a sharp drop in the curve after OT3. I think this survey will be pretty usful I bet OSA prnts it out too! LOL

Re: CofS Exit Survey is now Live!

Definitely a significant chart anomaly at OT III. lolxenu

Status update - the initial survey submission spike after launch got us approx 100 submissions in the first 32 hours has seemingly tapered off.

It took a whole day to get another 20 submission since the weekly status report was published yesterday. Newsflash highlights of current data collection progress now available on wikipage here:

Here's the basic exscilon types we got taking the survey so far with 125 submissions tally'd, moar at link above and here
SurveySnap1.png

on spreading this to other fronts... XSO newsgroup got pooned, FZ forums are supposedly being pooned, and there's a new news wire micro blog setup for rss feed subscriptions to monitor ongoing updates & announcements posted to the wiki, to aid in reaching folks who dont camp out on the forums much.

moar poll takers needed!!! current total number of submissions is only 127, so all you exes turned anons need plox be doing a lil keyboard warrior maneuvering and start emailing around the survey & wiki page links to friends and family that arent internet junkies & might not hear of this otherwise.

What's wrong with that? Chanology has always been a playground. And we have to have something to play with while we wait for the world to catch up with us.

Re: CofS Exit Survey is now Live!

look at this way... suppose i wanted to make a statistical survey of the physical attributes of men, but i let anyone who wanted to come get measured, and there were some women in the mix, a hermaphrodite or two, and maybe even some chimps and a dog... but i still presented the results as if they applied to men and only men.

if you're enjoying it, cool... it doesn't mean a whole lot, tho.

Re: CofS Exit Survey is now Live!

for all the naysayers in this thread - you failed to speak up on the planning thread that floated for a couple of weeks before we launched this, so u can either ignore this thread or just fk off if you dont like where this project is going.

we never claimed serious scholarship effort here, and merely stated an effort to "statisfy an academically inclined curiosity". *if* we get several hundred responses, it might loosely count as amateur scholarship.

and amateur scholarship can occaisonally inspire investigative journalism by revealing points or angles not previously explored. it can also serve as a litmus test for showing the great public interest for more serious scholarship. and imho - Dr.T, Stephen Kent, and scant few others have been holding the front line ALONE in terms of non-apologist academia support for critical scientology studies for far too long.

and if we can spark interest for more scholarly interest on scientology subjects with our lil sandbox adventure going on here - thats a good thing for everyone, plus its a possible venue for finding more ways to leverage the vast amount of leaks anons have brought out into the open for doing more with that crap than just having communal fapfest over 'em.

tl;dr - meh... informal study not equal serious statistical analysis. and we're merely seeking visual soundbites on points of interests that might be worth pursuing in other ways.

that said- none of the above points will matter in the long run if we dont muster up a decent number of responses. and so far were at 145 and counting. So for the exes in our midst, please take a few minutes to submit your survey here if you havent hit it yet: CofS Exit Survey

I imagine that this data will be useful when 'pooning politicians and decision-makers, esp. if you pull a few relevant data point images appropriate to a particular to-be-launched 'poon, and link back to the master document.

Well done.

Re: CofS Exit Survey is now Live!

ah well, if there was a notification sent out for that all-important planning thread, i must have missed it. my bad!

this is not trolling... this is constructive criticism. if you're satisfied with your project as is, that's fine -- but you don't get a free pass on such thoughts just because you don't like disagreement.
24. AnonLover Member

Re: CofS Exit Survey is now Live!

constructive criticism is very much welcome, this is afterall an experiment. but atleast read some of info thats been documented on the wiki page before jumping to conclusions regarding what were trying to do.

and seems a few of the previous comments are jumping to conclusions that scope of the project is intended to be a lot more than what we originally aimed to do. constructive criticism isnt of any use if it assumes the expected end result wrongly.

@anonlover

May I ask what you would like to learn of this data? I know exit surveys as an instrument for developping activities to increase staff retention . Or customer satisfaction. Are you just curious or do you plan to develop any activities? Such as when is a good point of time to free scilon staff? In any case it is an interesting survey.

Re: CofS Exit Survey is now Live!

i'm just fishing for possible strategic insights + building future harpooning lube. both of which i think could lead to new ideas for new activities. iow - use survey results as a brainstorming launching pad, new year - new tactixs for new phase of the fight, rah rah.

plus a wee dash of i need some strange on the day2day project ops side of the fence & aye why not whim.

Re: CofS Exit Survey is now Live!

I had lunch with an old friend today who confessed to me that he was a Scientologist in the 1980's, for FOUR DAYS !! he said that he took classes, I asked if they took a long time like 10 hours, he said yes didn't remember much about it said he had an auditor, but didn't remember or know what an e-meter was. I can coax him to take the survey if there is room for him but he might not remember enough about the cult to understand the questions.

Should I send him there ?

PS I asked why he stopped going to the CoS he said, "they were weird".

we nao haz the latest weekly update!

The topical theme for this week's analytical pack is slightly different perspective than what we used for the extended batch of summary graphs from thetanic last week, in hopes that we can do something similar but look at a different angle this week... Levels of Involvement (Non-staff, Staff Sea Org, etc) vs. Progress of the Bridge.

As of Dec 19, 2009 with 170 respondents (wiki showcase)

The big EP of this exercise is currently adding up to approx 80% of the poll takers feel the CofS did them some form of harm as shown in this chart:

SurveySnap20x.png

HALP: NEEDS MOAR POLL TAKERS

^^was hoping to get at least 200-250 by first of the year, but weekly increase aint quite panning out to hit the 200 mark by Jan 1 if we dont get a little boost over the holidays.

Re: CofS Exit Survey is now Live!

The reasons for blowing are very interesting. Unfortunately, we may suffer from sampling bias (i.e. those that "just drifted away") may not feel inclined to (or learn about) the poll, scewing the results toward the those who left in disagreement over the CoS.

An interesting aspect is that few seem to leave due to direct demonstrations, most cite differences with the management. It seems the call to arms got it right the first time around: "the sum of suppression we could ever muster is eclipsed by that of the RTC".

Keep up the good work! This data is interesting, and it is useable!
