I don't understand. I'm obviously missing some history and back-story. Could you fill me in? Any links?

Yeah, all the ones that I've looked at were created in 2002. They did this for Davie and a number of the top people in Scientology at that time.

AGP got an annoying Avagram from Moxon's ugly drag queen associate, Ava Paquette. Nothing to get buzzed about.

Ava likes sending threatening legal letters... makes her feel like a real man.

What? Marty getting fair gamed in an insidious and deceptive way by OSA on the internet? And to think i read it here on WWP.

They are using real peoples names. Could I buy obama domaines and would get away with this?

I had no idea ICANN can now prosecute people. I guess being an elawyer is not so easy you fucking moron

Pretty sure the penalty for cybersquatting is the loss of the domain.

I'm too lazy to check but what's the date when those domains were registered?

    YES YOU CAN.

    I don't think David Miscavige owns WhoIsDavidMiscavige.com

he he he. Lucky we dont have names...
    Google results for Marty Rathburn
  14. Re: COS registers Marty & Mike Domain Names, causing consumer confusion.

Interesting question. If they did, why aren't they using them now? Something is fishy with this whole Marty and Mike situation and not just these websites either...

That being said, does Moxon have the right to sue for the site which was set up in his name by the Angry Gay Pope?

Re: COS registers Marty & Mike Domain Names, causing consumer confusion.

That's what I meant. ICANN handles domain disputes.
I'm not so sure M&M will win though, if the registrations are some 8 yrs. old and done while they were in.

Could be a good way to tie these two up in litigation for a while. That's one of the cults favorite games.

Re: COS registers Marty & Mike Domain Names, causing consumer confusion.

Why spend money and time litigating over a bunch of parked domains?

CoS, per Hubbard policy, only ups the registration for one more year, each year. If there's no one left at INCOMM who knows how renew a registration, they'll lapse quickly. (And then a cyber-squatter will grab them, but that's life.)

Cybersquatting is something that should be taken care of thru legal routes. M&M have problems with taking care of things thru legal routes so I don't see this happening anytime soon.

Noticing that the domains were purchased 8 years after the fact and then squawking as they are is just damn stupid.

Fooking idiots. They're just fanning little tiny flames of their own creation trying to create a fireball.

Hint: It ain't working Marty. Try something different, like something legal. Your little self-created cult won't succeed either.

We got Sharron Angle running for Senator, and Sarah Palin running for President.

So, the Orgs say what is legal or not.

Re: COS registers Marty & Mike Domain Names, causing consumer confusion.

One can't waive their trademark rights if there exists a likelihood of confusion, even if the confusion occurred via circumstances that developed over time; this is because trademark law exists in part to protect the public from confusion. Thus, laches would not be a valid defense in a hypothetical litigation or ICAAN dispute.

Generally speaking, the law on domain names is all over the place, and tough to predict. Especially if the parties opt to go the ICAAN route (UDRP), where the decisions don't rely on precedent like they do in US litigation. That said, claims against domain names which are the persons' names have a good track record of success, but only where the domain name holder has no valid claim to the domain name--obviously two John Does have an equally valid claim to JohnDoe.com. Scientology has no real valid claim to MartyRathbun.com at this point, at least as compared to Marty's.

It's all fairly speculative because I get the sense that Marty has zero interest in litigating any matter with Scientology, much less one whose sole upside is gaining a domain name.

Re: COS registers Marty & Mike Domain Names, causing consumer confusion.

Meh, who wants those boring names anyway? Domain names for anything other than the best-known sites are all but useless anyway. People use search engines rather than haphazardly guess at the domain.

    That said, I propose "www.SpaceOpera2TheRathOfBun.com"
  26. Re: COS registers Marty & Mike Domain Names, causing consumer confusion.

Google algorithms rank highly the domain name keywords as well as the usual content links and keywords and so it does matter a lot for search engines.

Funny (if true) comment from an OSA Anti-Marty site:

Re: COS registers Marty & Mike Domain Names, causing consumer confusion.

Registering domains wouldn't stop someone from forging the sender.

I bet someone got penis spam in Marty's name.

Re: COS registers Marty & Mike Domain Names, causing consumer confusion.

Yes, because we should obviously believe an account: (1) on an anti-Marty site; (2) by someone who blames Marty's for getting him "booted out of the Sea Org"; and (3) by someone who is considering "petitioning to come back [to the Sea Org] now that Marty confirmed that he is an SP."

Yep, no questions of motive or reliability there.

Oh, and Marty reminds him of being Hitler, and Mike reminds him of being Mussolini? Then what is the DM he is "considering" petitioning to run back to? Hitler, Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot rolled up into one?

I'm not saying I believe Marty's account, or disbelieve it. I recognize that the domains were registered in 2002. I asked about that issue on Marty's blog. Marty allowed the question to be posted. Marty has not yet answered the question.

But I also take with a grain of salt a story by someone who on the one hand claims to not be an OSAbot, but nonetheless is "considering" filing a petition to return to the SO.

Poor Marty and Mike. 'Scientology vs the Internet' is still claiming victims after all these years?

Whatever the story, I think the point should be: why would the cult still want to hang onto those domains?

Quoting because it shows a massive hole in the claim that someone was 'mislead'.
