    ditto

I pushed the "Australia is being called to stand up for those who have no voice,"
    and
"Don't let your inaction now cause you embarrassment when asked by your grandchildren in 20 years, what you did to end the crimes in Scientology?"

Question (for everyone): If we are outside of Aus., do you think it would be better if we put our State/Country or just don't mention where we're from at all?
  3. Re: CoS winning the Email War 7:1, BUT...

    I mentioned my country.

Not going to get in a retard slapfight with you but that's just one way that an everyday noob can get an ip. There are others. Getting through a proxied email is a bit tougher though.

Regardless, we agree that this point is moot - the Senators don't care about ip's as long as you're not sending a death threat or spamming.

    @XenuPhobic

Put your state/country and even city if you like. IMO, there's no harm in a few details.

    Dear [sir | madam],

As an American, I'm obviously not a constituent, but I do very strongly encourage you to join Sen. Xenophon in callling for an investigation into the "Church of Scientology" and I have one point I'd like to make clear, as it has been causing a lot of confusion in the press and elsewhere.

There are two separate meanings to the word "Scientology". One is the study and practice of the teachings of Mr. L. Ron Hubbard, labeled "Dianetics" and/or "Scientology" (not exactly the same thing, but largely so). This we could call "Scientology, the religion". The other is the collection of organizations (hundreds of them, as it turns out) established originally by Hubbard and now controlled by Mr. David Miscavige, which we might call "organized Scientology" -- a term coined by Mr. Larry Brennan, who helped in the establishing of those organizations some 30 years ago and is now an outspoken critic.

I've noticed with some disappointment that most commentators don't seem to be aware of this distinction between "Scientology, the religion" and "organized Scientology"; consequently, many of them take a dim view of the call for a reconsideration of "organized Scientology"'s tax exempt status, on the basis that such a reconsideration would be attacking a religion. However, this is not so, as a simple comparison will reveal.

Imagine someone suing or openly criticizing, for example, the Southern Baptist denominational leadership for certain criminal acts. Nobody would protest that the plaintiff or whistleblower was attacking Christianity. This is because there is a very obvious distinction between one denomination and all of Christendom; the existence of all the other branches and forms of Christianity is well known, and they would not be the target of the attack, so there would be no confusion. The same illustration can be applied to many other religions. However, when we come to Scientology, we find that there is one organizational structure which seeks to define itself monopolistically over all of "Scientologydom" (for lack of a better word). It is that structure which is coming under fire. However, it is not easy to refer quickly and accurately to that structure per se; it is far easier to just say "Scientology" -- and thus is born the confusion between "Scientology, the religion" and "organized Scientology", unwittingly in most cases.

I hope this helps you to sort out the issues on the table. Let me assure you that the matter is an important one to many, as there have been thousands of families ripped apart and lives drained of their financial and physical energy by this predatory organization and its many associated organizations, which hide behind the cloak of religion in order to avoid scrutiny. Those coming forward now to tell their stories are only the first wave of many more to come. Please stand with them.

    Sincerely,
    (me)
    (my state, USA)

I would be as honest as possible other than maybe name which I didn't want to give out. I just signed mine as an anonymous citizen of the US. I was also honest about being part of the protest movement. But writing your own harpoon and being honest about being outside Australia can only help. The cult is bombarding them with fake letters. By being better than the cult and being honest we make our voices louder than theirs, no matter how many fake letters they send.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Honorable Madame/Sir,

I have spent the last three or so years doing many hours of in-depth studying of the church of Scientology (CoS), from its inception, its founder's history, the structure of its philosophy, its doctrines (from the initial hooks to its highest levels), the impacts on its victims, its actions against its detractors and ex-members, and much more.

I have never before, (and hopefully never again), seen such a tangled web of deceit, lies, and outright misery created for the sole purpose of making money. In the guise of counseling and helping people, it has literally ruined thousands of lives with an outrageous arrogant impunity, destroyed families, and the lives and minds of otherwise well intentioned folk. It is a travesty of monumental proportions and due to its fanatically secretive and manipulative nature, continues its inroads into many aspects of various world societies under the guises of its many front groups such as WISE, their so-called 'Volunteer' Ministers, the Youth for Human Rights 'programs', and their Narconon program (a totally bogus therapy based on no scientifically viable premises), to name a few.

I have come to the conclusion that this organization is an out-and-out fraudulent scheme of unprecedented size, but due to their financial power, celebrity influence, and the use of intimidation and coercion upon its adherents, it continues to carry on while reaping/banking literally hundreds of millions of dollars a year, most of which is pocketed by the higher echelon, it can be called nothing less than gross profit in my humble opinion.

I beg you to look into this with all your heart, with open eyes, and add your voice to the growing list of people unafraid to face this blight of sensibility in our midst.

Sincerely and Anonymously (for the protection of my family),

    Mr. Sumguysumware

Remember to mix it up and keep it personal.

A lot of people are going to be citing Lisa McPherson, Noah Lottick, etc. I would recommend not focusing on Australian news coverage of events, since that's what they probably know the most about. Try to use your own country, and reach for more unique details.

On a side note, I hope someone covered the takeover of CAN. That would be awesome. I already finished my poons and took home so far:

Unsure how I'm going to explain to my prof that I didn't study for the test because I was writing a letter to all the Australian senators instead. Whatev.

    This, again

Copy/paste into To or Bcc. Just write a couple dozen words of strong support for the inquiry. It's real easy and there is still time

Re: CoS winning the Email War 7:1, BUT...

    Finished the whole list!

Each Senator got an individual letter from me. I typed the Senator's name into the "Subject" field of each email, like this:

    "Senator Trood, Please Investigate Scientology!"

I also personalized the salutation: "Dear Senator Trood"

I hope sending a seperate email to each Senator and personalizing it with their name draws attention. Every little bit helps!

Yep good plan and worth the effort. Nicely done.
  23. Re: CoS winning the Email War 7:1, BUT...

The only one I can see is that it will increase the apparent number of Scilon templates and make it appear that more Scientologists are involved. The 7:1 ratio works in our favour. The senators will have to sift through a large number of Scilon spam. They will disregard it. I have pooned only once, and I think it is a better idea to leave a lower amount of high quality. Remember, it's not just changologists and exes, their are people who are concerned who have never been involved who will be pooning.
    Depends on the senator.

Re: CoS winning the Email War 7:1, BUT...

    Thanks Bruce... and Bruce!

It didn't take too long and if you break it up and do a little at a time, it goes by pretty easily. I hope everyone takes some time to write. Even the briefest note to one or two Senators adds a lot at the receiving end!

I do wonder how we're doing vs. miscabbage's "all hands" call for 'slave scribes'!

Aussies, given how little time there is before Parliament closes for the week, I would think it appropriate for us to call those senators NOT in the Greens to ask why they aren't supporting an inquiry.

Quote I started my letter with... I think it's big to differentiate that we are not trying to stifle what they believe in (although it's clearly bullshit), but how they act.
