Cults should be given nowhere to hide
Despite criminal investigations, these groups continue unfettered.

This is good stuff. It only takes a snowball to start an avalanche.

Now that is an article and a half.

This would be deliciously ironic in Scientology's case. What with all their phony "concern" and front groups regarding the human rights they violate.

Including all their front groups which need our attention

Sponge has been doing news reporting for a long long time. Single-handed running the news section at OSMB for ever. In fact, when ever I see the nick Sponge, it = must read because there's often an interesting link in there.

I think one of Xenophon's future tactics in the senate should be to remind his colleagues that Australia is a signatory to the UN UDHR.
On the disconnection and coerced abortion issue alone, scientology goes against Article 12 and 16.

Ray Hill of xenu-directory.net did a nice side by side comparison of the UDHR and specific Hubbard policies .....
    L. Ron Hubbard/Scientology vs. Universal Declaration of Human Rights
(perhaps could be expanded on further)

When all this is over, Belladonna and I intend to enter partnership in running an Organic Linkfarm, producing top quality Free Range Critical Mass.

    Does Sen Xenuphon have this?

    IDK
(btw i edited my post, changing "is to remind" to "should be to remind").

I think it would be neat to do a simple UDHR comparison of Hubbard/scientology policies like Ray Hill's but with evidence of specific local scientology cult contraventions in Australia added to it too. (something like this would also be good if an inquiry eventually takes place).

Most excellent. Sooner Sen X gets it, sooner he can get it to others, have time to review before May. No more "just go to the courts and sue, or to police". May help bolster his call to add laws to fill in the gaps.

Uh, you guys just don't get it. I'm not insulting Sponge or Belladoanna. Both are excellent resources, with their own contacts and resources.

I've been doing this for for more than 10 years, just calling stuff as I see it. If I fail, please 2 b crucify me.

Sponge, you new sig cracks me up :)

I didn't take it as an insult. At least on this side of the line, if I were compared with either, I would certainly take it as a compliment. Just pointing out recoginition for Sponge's concerted and dedicated effort is all.

I think this is an incredibly powerful idea that could easily have legs

The UDHR isn't "universally" compatible with liberty (for reasons which would be a bit of a derail to go into here), but yeah, it could be used as a chisel to chip off the "religious protection" veneer of the cult(s).

ESMB would be the place to list the points and round up contravention accounts.

I've seen newspaper articles addressing this UDHR before, but would be a good angle to pursue for an Oz journo piece.

    Cyrus' reply would be interesting.

hahaha I was just ready to post that the Bro's (bretheren) must have done a crash course in Tommy Davis woowoo pr.

btw, UDHR not a bad idea. Looks like no funding help, but a good ally, possible helpful advice if nothing else.

Reverend, eh? When is a journalist going to ask what a Scientology Reverend (or Pastor) is, precisely, and what are the requirements to earn that title?

Here she is listed as DSA.* Not quite the same as Public Affairs...

Here's a nice little story (although the part about auditor training as part of the prerequisite I never heard, and seriously doubt)
