The loss of a child is nearly unbearable in any circumstance.
Imagine the guilt one would have if one's beliefs contributed to the death of the child.
And imagine how hard it would be to admit this.
    How could you forgive yourself?
Safer, more comfortable to hang on to those beliefs.

The only minor niggle I have with this is that the Mail readership are more likely to rage if they found about about the tax situation. However I know this article is the first of many to come in the UK press which will be overtly critical of the cult. Silly season will hopefully bring the first few.

The only question I ask of British anons is why the right wing press in this country is prepared to stand up to the cult in this country but few left wing papers have. The situation seems to be opposite in America.

Is the Mirror and other papers in their pocket like Tony Blair?

    Weird world we live in.

There is no longer any such thing as formulaic left- and right-wing press in the UK.

This largely reflects UK politics which the old language of left and right fails to describe. The reality is a muddle of centre politics and undifferentiated vote mongering regardless of political orientation where European law allows any freedom at all.

That aside, apologizing for religions (real or fake) would typically be considered a socialist pursuit in the UK, whereas active promotion of the state religion would usually be expected from right-of-centre politicians. In either case religion would normally get an easy ride in the UK.

    That's the simplest answer.

    True.

On the other hand, it might provide the adequate doubt necessary to question his religion and put the blame there.

JT, if you are reading here -- I came out as Bi Transgendered a little over a year ago. Best decision I ever made in my life. Think of it as another "Wall of Fire", but with real results.

Maybe put this on an iPod for one of those morning drives in the cart:

Dogs - Animals Lyrics - Pink Floyd Lyrics

You don't want to go there, John...

You can get support. I'll even do the "put up or shut up" thing: If you need a little anonymity for breathing room, you can come to Green Bay. I'll hook you up with quality people (myself included) who can help you. If you want to really go "off the grid" for a while, don't use credit or debit cards, only cash. Leave the cellphone with GPS behind. Buy a used car out of the paper a few towns up the road on the way, or at least disable any GPS or similar locators in the one you've got. File no flight plans. Use a library computer to PM me when you arrive.

edit: The Quality Inn on Washington is clean and has excellent weekly rates. They have a computer in the lobby, so you could skip the library computer. They're pet-friendly too.

If John does blow, maybe other celebs will follow?

    from the article:

"Even so, sources told me this week that the couple are desperate to have another child. His friends can only hope that the prospect of a new life might finally lift Travolta out of his grief."

if he was gonna blow, why would he wanna have another kid with his beard?

    makes no sense

Travolta twijfelt aan Scientology - Privé - Telegraaf.nl [24 uur Actueel, ook mobiel] [prive]

The Telegraaf is the biggest newspaper in the Netherlands, so this is win.

    Rough translation:

    John Travolta doubts Scientology

AMSTERDAM - John Travolta is the Scientology poster boy, but there seem to be cracks in the close relationship.

John is having a serious time since he suddenly lost his son Jett.

He is often spotted while driving around on a golf cart at night and he is struggling with obesity, the Daily Mail reports. But the biggest reason for his stress would be that he is no longer sure about his passionate relationship with Scientology.

John is a keen member ever since the first hour and he also pumped millions of euros in the 'cult'. The organization also has clear ideas and guidelines when it comes to diseases, guidelines that John and his family have also followed with their son who was autistic and had violent attacks. On one of those attacks, he eventually deceased.

John is now said to doubt the teachings of the church and it is said that he wants to break free. But he can't do that, because, according to several sources, the church holds folders on celebrities with enough incriminating material to ensure that they will never betray the church.

    To be continued...

Thanks for taking the trouble to photograph this. Glad to see confirmation that it's in print.

The media focuses too much on the aliens aspect, which is irrelevant and a distraction. (To some the idea of a carpenter like Jesus or Ganesh is laughable).

Glad they highlighted the cults ludicrous claims to cure diseases and the way they log their followers deepest darkest secrets so they can blackmail them.

It won't change any Scientologist's minds (they see this an entheta - part of an evil conspiracy to ruin scientology) but it increases public awareness. (Judging by 'A piece of blue sky' it seems the press have been attacking Scientology for decades - it makes no difference to the indoctrinated. They're conditioned to just ignore any criticism)

As an ex I can say most Scilons have doubts and when something big or tragic happens then it only strengthens those doubts. To lose a child despite all the promises of scientology(they reckon you can heal others by auditing on OTVII), may well wake him up and he will be ANGRY at the cult. He can do serious damage to their PR and legally & financially he can cause havoc.
    BTW is Herro a troll?

Cheers mate, like Doofy from Scary Movie?. Also interesting to note that more and more UK press are willing to expose the CULT, a clear indication that the threat of fairgame is no longer working :)

There is real potential for HERO (not to be confused with Herro!) status!

John! Save some actual lives! Including your own!!!

One small press release, interview from JT and the guts of the scam would fall right out!

If he was, he wouldn't be the first to lurk here to find out what's really going on within their church.
  26. Re: Daily Mail (UK) Asks Is John Travolta cracking up?

John, if you're reading this, know that you are not alone. I remember when I was diagnosed with a strange medical condition and the church was takig so much money that it looked like we couldn't afford the teatments and my mom got scared and said you're movin with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air.
  27. Re: Daily Mail (UK) Asks Is John Travolta cracking up?

The press picking up this story have the ability to help John with that. By repeating the assertion that people are held in the cult against their will with what amounts to blackmail over their confidential PC folder "confessions", and pointing out how the cult did in fact release information from the PC folders of four ex-members to the St. Petersburg Times not even a month ago, they can possibly create a situation where it becomes too politically dangerous for them to do it to John Travolta as it will give the world's press a golden opportunity to run a very high-profile "We told you so!" story.

Also - the PC folder in this case is not going to help the cult. I think the world's response to a "John Travolta is Gay!" headline would be an ear-shattering "Duh!"

Of course, it might not even be the "gay thing". Has anyone considered that the real reason John will not leave the cult is that he fears Kirstie Alley will disconnect from him and prevent the making of "Look Whose Still Talking"?

Re: Daily Mail (UK) Asks Is John Travolta cracking up?

Well, we are making some assumption that that's what it's about, but my Gaydar says YES. And, if that's true, I'd expect JT to have plenty of support (and a loyal fan base) wherever he lands in the LGBT alphabet soup.

BTW, John, it looked like you were having a blast doing Hairspray.

Re: Daily Mail (UK) Asks Is John Travolta cracking up?

I'm glad the press is picking up on the cult blackmail and manipulation- if (or when) JT blows- any fair game by the cult will surely backfire horribly and cause another media shitstorm. I hope JT does blow and seeks proper psychological help, if he doesn't the consequences could be terrible. He needs professional counseling and not $cientology bullshit.
  30. Re: Daily Mail (UK) Asks Is John Travolta cracking up?

If John blows will he take his family with him? What if he wants to blow and it isn't just fair game he's worried about. Maybe he's worried he won't get to see his daughter if he does leave.

Re: Daily Mail (UK) Asks Is John Travolta cracking up?

He is probably also worried about losing his "friends" within the cult. I have 3 people I have gotten out recently and this was part of their concerns. All I had to do was point out to them that they are not true friends, just weird scino acquaintances who they would not likely be friends with in the real world. The best part is as soon as they left all their "friends" stopped speaking to them and it really proved the point nicely.

You get him some knee pads and I'll find a hair tie.

Honestly I think in this case it's just the daily mail trying to create a celebrity story to drive sales. I'm not saying that they aren't accurately representing the information they have been given. But I do think that this is mainly about profit motive, not "standing up to the cult."
