    Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

Global raid for the anniversary of the first irl protest!

Who in Dallas is going on Wednesday, Feb 10 and Saturday, Feb 13?

I will be going to both as long as I am not there alone.
I am available Wednesday afternoon and all day Saturday.

    Location:
    451 Decker Dr
    Irving, Tx 75062
    (The actual church)

    and

The corner of Highway 114 (John Carpenter Fwy) and O'Conner
(To get it out to the public)

I don't know about times though...
    Let's discuss.

First of all, who will be there?

Here are the ideas for times so far, so who's in? Will these times work?

    Wednesday, February 10, 2010
    4:00pm-6:30pm

    Saturday, February 13, 2010
    11:00am-6:30pm

January, yes, if any dates are ever set. Feb for sure because dates are set. So yes, both.

    Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

Responding to your request for Feb times over here in the Feb thread. Find something for Jan and I'll check times then :p

Wednesday: No later than 6PM (need to be leaving/gone by then).
Saturday: no earlier than 11AM, no end time

    Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

Yeah, I was thinking about that. I was just looking up sunset and twilight times for the 10th

I am thinking on the 10th to perhaps start around 4pm until 6:30pm.

The sun begins setting around 6:00 but by six thirty, there is still light enough that if you can get to your cars by 7, then you should be good, I think because it does not become completely dark until 7:30. Also, staying past six will give us a chance to be known to more of the Scis because that is the approximate time that the staff would eat dinner from what I've gathered. They are likely to be outside at that time. That will help us to get our message to the staff members that might be there and perhaps to put up a few good arguments and info if anyone tries to confront us. Remember, just because they're a staff member doesn't mean that they aren't a victim as well. Although that's not always the case.

And I was also thinking of meeting around 11 or 12 on Saturday and staying there for a good portion of the day.

So, Dallanon, you and I can probably agree with these times considering you said the times that I was already thinking, haha.

Who agrees with these times? We should make them official if agreed upon.

    Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

Sounds good to me, but I'll miss the end of the Wednesday protest.

Looks like January plans are dead. I can't make any more weekends anyway until next month.

    We need a loudspeaker.

    Are full masks allowed?
  9. CrystalDallas Member

    Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

Yeah, I believe January is dead too, unless someone would be willing to accompany me to the Valley View or Irving Mall to protest the stress tests, but I don't think we'd be able to go inside. I might do a bit of stuff on my own though... minor stuff, I don't know yet.

I don't have a speaker. I don't know if anyone does. If we had more anons posting in here I'd ask. I don't believe any Dallas protesters have one though... Hmmm... I don't think it's that important though. That's just my opinion.

I do believe full masks are allowed. I wouldn't see why they shouldn't be and based on videos, that's never been the case in the past. At the mall would be another story though. Perhaps I will check with the local police? They should know about the plans to protest anyway so that the Scilons don't try to threaten us or make us go away.

Does anyone else have a camera? I got a new digital camera for Christmas that takes video, but I'm not sure how good it is or if there's a time limit. I have a video camera, but it's also digital and the only way I have to charge it is through my computer, which is not letting it keep a very long charge. My digital camera however is AA battery powered. I just need a lot of those. Oh wow, expensive much? Geez.

Okay so... two anons for this one so far. I know of a person (or perhaps a few people) that may join me as well.

    Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

I have a digital camera that CAN take video, but probably shouldn't do it for too long. It's much better at pictures.

Check with the cops about masks at protests, and confirm a day or two before. Get names of who you talk to.

I wouldn't wear a mask inside the mall, but walking around with hueg aviators or something shouldn't be a problem. Print off some of these flyers to hand out - even just a walk-by and dropping the ones labeled "for Scientologists" would be a start. I may be making a shirt with one of the "WARNING: DANGEROUS CULT RECRUITING HERE" (or whatevs) deal on the front for whenever I'm able to print some stuff off and chill by the testing area.

If you want to hand out stuff to people at the mall, try printing off the english/spanish one, so that literally everyone will be able to understand it.
  11. CrystalDallas Member

    Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

    Alrighty then.
I just tested my new cam. It took 12 minutes of video without stopping, so I just need to check the quality now. I am not worried though except for my lack of moneys to buy batteries, heh.

If you are fine with being seen without a mask in the mall, more power to ya. I, however do not wish to be seen without a mask, so my only choice is to be outside.

I completely agree about English/Spanish. I wish I was bilingual, heh. Just don't use online translators. If you know Spanish great, if not, get a friend. I never even thought of printing them in Spanish :D

thats an excellent billingual flyer. But if you guys need help in translating any other flyer aquired through the net or created by yall, feel free to ask me :D. i am more than willing to help. (spanish) i am pretty sure bilingual fliers are need way more in LA protests. but oh well.
  14. Dallanon Member

    Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

    holy crap a translator

Even if I don't think of any fliers that we need, I may need you to translate some stuff for signs for me anyway, especially if my dry-erase-board-tech can be brought to life.

    Yays! Thank you :)
  16. Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

I would like to attend at least the Feb. 13th protest (maybe the 10th, but I have class that day.) I'm new to the Dallas area, can someone give me any general info? Locations and mask policies would be good (for example, my Cali group required masks.) Thanks.

    Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

    Interesting.
    What cell was this?

I didn't know there were Cali groups that required masks.
  18. Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

San Francisco. They seem to be a lot less laid back up there. (Nothing but "LURK MOAR!" and "SHOW TITS!" if you know what I mean.)

    Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

Let me clear up a few things for you:

    a)
Masks are never a required accessory. They are strongly advised for reasons of your own safety and protection. Any device that can conceal your identity from photography is usually considered adequate.

If, being hungry and without money, you can't afford any thing (even a paper bag) to protect your identity from Scientology PIs, it is likely that sooner or later you will be identified. There's a small chance you will be subject to "Fair Game" and Scientology generally trying to make your life miserable thereafter.

Nonetheless, its entirely up to you. Some people have never worn a mask, and are never bothered by CoS.

    b)
Older, larger, and more established groups of protesters tend to be more wary of newcomers, and more paranoid in general. They are more likely to have a deeply ingrained culture- Anonymous culture in general is likely to offend sensitive individuals.
SF/SJ/SC is a fairly old and established group. The rude and inconsiderate behavior you may have seen online is *vastly* less toxic than the abuse Scientology provides these people, quite regularly. If SF/SJ Anons make you uncomfortable, SF/SJ Scientologists would have a LOT OF FUN making you far less comfortable.

    b)ii
Older, larger, and more established groups of protesters are often safer to protest with, because they know the ropes and have established ties with local law enforcement, and have seen what the local Scientologists are capable of.

    b)iii
Dallas is pretty new, or newly re-formed. There are a few people who will know what they are doing, there are a lot of people who will not know what they are doing. The upcoming protest is likely to be extremely awesome, but there is potential for bad juju (from the CoS side).

    c) tits or GTFO. This is a standard request. If you cannot abide such communication, be advised that the request will be repeated.

    d) welcome

    Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

    Yaaay! Another for Dallas=win!

I don't think there's a mask rule. I mean, who's the real authority on that? There's not too many of us either so a dumb rule like that could keep people out, which isn't good. I would suggest some sunglasses + scarf/bandana or something, but you don't have to do anything to hide yourself. It's always a good idea though.

So definitely show up if you can :D
I'd let you borrow my extra mask, but I think I've got someone that's gonna wear it already :/
  26. Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

I know enough to cover my face; it was specifically Guy Fawkes masks they were requiring, which is a bit more of a financial commitment than, say, a bandanna and shades.

Thanks for the welcome. (And the tips.)

Oh jeez, now there are expectations to live up to. Haha, j/k. Thanks :D

    Also, Ms Femal3, welcome :)
  28. Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

    ^^^ Thnx. :D
  29. Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

I'll try to be there on the 13th. Unless I really screw something up (which I don't intend to), I plan to be at work that Wednesday. 11 am is a good/standard start time for a weekend protest. I'll be more than happy to talk with anyone about parking, masks, etc.

Also, full masks are allowed at protests in the city of Irving, but if police ask you to remove it, you must comply.

Also also, always beware the simulacra. We wear masks. That makes it easy for impostors to walk in and destroy what we're working for. If someone starts acting a little funny, move away from them. Try not to involve the police, because the Scilons will have their cameras running.
Best way to be known by your fellow anons and feared by the Scilons is to have a signature piece. Mine is my hat.

Ehh, enough preaching for now. Hope to see all of you soon.

    Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

GF masks are iconic, and many wear them to show solidarity with other Anons on the whole. A large mob of people wearing immaculate black suits, red ties, starched white shirts, black shoes, and GF masks is quite a sight to behold. :)

But its never a requirement. And aside from Berlin, I don't think anyone ever really pulls it off anyway. In SF, you would have been welcomed and valued and appreciated if you showed up at all.

I can't find March, but in April this is what the Bay Area anons looked like

    And Downtown SF from February:

    Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

I have no clue on what could be my "signature piece"
  32. Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

Just remember that if you use a signature piece it should be something that, while distinctive, will not aid in finding you outside a protest. For a while, NoScope used Mardi Gras paraphernalia with his mask, but he also made the mistake of wearing his school letter jacket. Using a non-GF mask is okay, and can be used for a signature if it's wacky enough.

Just remember, it's not necessary. It's best to do only if you plan to be particularly outrageous, IMO. For instance, I have a tendency to handle handlers while enturbulating. I can be very loud, and they know it.

lol.. yeah, I went back to see the 1st page and saw the post i had just quoted and i was like.. "EH"

Seems like ZAK... has to edit his too.. XD... oh well i did what i could.. i was too busy reading another thread.
  34. Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

PM'd, CD. Also, sorry if I make it sound like they're definitely going to following hardcore after the protest. That's hardly the case. From past experience, it seems more like they don't put a whole lot of effort into it, so as long as you're smart about what you're doing, you should be okay.
  35. CrystalDallas Member

    Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

Yes, I actually plan to make the arm bands specially. I have been thinking very had about what I can wear and what might identify me. It's pretty complicated when you try too hard.
  36. Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

I always just wear my standard day clothes (unmarked or common markings are best) with my mask and hat.

Scientology administrators are a lot like cavemen... they're frightened of that which they do not understand. Wheel: "AHHH!" Fire: "AHHH!" Crazy hat: "AHHH!"

  38. CrystalDallas Member

    Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

    Hehe. That's great :D

I will search my closet for appropriate clothes but may end up wearing a white collared shirt like they do, bwahahaha :p
  39. Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

Yeah, I love seeing anons in suits at other locations, but I don't have one, and I'm certainly not going to ask anyone else to go out and buy one either.
And no way in hell am I gonna stand out in the Texas sun all day in the summer in a suit, so no reason to bother with it now. Except to look badass in my pirate hat and wig... hmm......
  40. CrystalDallas Member

    Re: Dallas - Feb 10 and 13

    Yeah... suit+sun=bad.

Texas weather is unpredictable though, so I have no idea if it's going to be cold.

My shirt happens to be short-sleeved and I don't have a jacket. Only a vest. (hmm, I guess I hope it's not TOO cold, lol) It's not really a suit, more of random things I piled together to give the appearance. lol
