  2. I hope that his 'excellency', the 'honorable' Jeff Stone, the bought and paid for cult apologist and enabler of ongoing brutal abuses at Scientology's RPF Hole in his Riverside, Ca district takes a peek at the video of Debbie Cook's testimony if it somehow happens to get played at the next supervisors meeting.

Mr. Stone: "Do you believe that an evil intergalactic warlord called David Miscavige brought his top scientologists to your district in Riverside, Ca and buried them in The HOLE ?"

Perhaps Jeff may want to consider the Tommy Davis ragequit defense.........

That part doesn't sound so good though ... She will help with "cover[ing] up actual crimes" as long as they are not nasty to her? Am I reading incorrectly?

I think you are, and I think this is the "escape hatch" should the case go badly for Cook.

    I know right?

I'd really like to know who wore the Vader helmet and what they were supposed to be doing while wearing it.

Shit is such cash entertainment. The $300,000 Scientology wants from Cook is chump change compared to what Cook could get for the movie rights should she decide to outline and market her story.

Like so many others have said ... this whole hearing has just been a gas! Filing a TRO against someone that is so egregiously over that top ("You cannot talk about this with your husband OR with a lawyer!") that it invites (nay, requires!) the degree of legal scrutiny that leads to the revelation in open court of everything the TRO was designed to cover up, then video'ed and posted online FREE for anyone to view.

This SO FAR exceeds anything with Streisand's name on it that I'm now focused only on how we should brand it.

Should we call this "the Debbie Cook Effect"? Any better names we might give to this?

I also think the transcript, motions, exhibits, blogs, videos, etc. of this hearing could become dogma, dicta and law school lore on How and When NOT to File and Litigate a Temporary Restraining Order.

I am just laughing my ass off.

    Update on VV:

BREAKING: SCIENTOLOGY WITHDRAWS REQUEST FOR TEMPORARY INJUNCTION -- DEBBIE COOK IS UNGAGGED

George Spencer started proceedings by addressing Judge Tanner, saying that Cook had made "false and misleading statements" about the church yesterday, that she has done "irreparable harm to our client."
"As we feared, the defendant has used the courtroom to...violate the agreement. She disparaged numerous officials not involved in this case."
"The extreme falsity of her testimony is shown by the simple fact that she didn't have a positive thing to say about any of the people she worked with..." he said.
Cook had "destroyed the value of the temporary injunction," and therefore the church was withdrawing its request for one.
    WOW.
Everyone in the court is stunned. Jeffrey asked for a short recess to talk things over with Cook and Baumgarten and then they'll reconvene.
Joe Childs looked at me and gave me a look that said, "Can you believe it?"

One of the people in the audience: Steve Hall, who runs an excellent Scientology blog.
Ray Jeffrey and his clients, Debbie Cook and Wayne Baumgarten, are back in court. Scientology's attorneys are still huddling outside.

  16. I'll get my speculation in first - Tiny Dave decided he was being mentioned too often, so decided to drop the attack.

I also predict Marty will claim it was dropped because DM didn't want Marty on the stand.

    Another VV update:

9:55 am. Jeffrey is saying that he wants to continue his examination of Cook on the record because he wanted to address her signing the NDA.
Spencer says the court can't continue: "This thing is over."
Tanner decides to allow Jeffrey to describe what Cook would testify to if she allows it to continue.

It's not so crazy that this could be the reason.

Marty and Mike probably still have secrets they're just itching to reveal under oath in court. Miscavige does not know what might come out, and does not want to risk the possible legal consequences to the corporation and to his person.

    AND IT IS DONE.
Jeffrey came and spoke to us for a minute. I caught it on video, so I'll post that a little later. For now we're clearing out of here, and it may be a while before I have a connection again. But we'll be trying to get an interview with Debbie and Wayne later today.

Debbie has bigger balls that Mike and Marty put together. Good on her.

    Is it really over though?

Miscavige never even tried to sue Mike or Marty. He's ascared of what they might reveal in court.

Scotch and staff would be my guess.

"Never discuss Scientology with the critic. Just discuss his or her crimes, known and unknown. And act completely confident that those crimes exist. Because they do."

That ^ Hubbard quote takes on a whole new meaning.

I wonder if some interesting protest slogans may arise from the ashes that this trial became for Miscavige and company?

"Cook had 'destroyed the value of the temporary injunction,' "

lol yeah whatever. Nothing like a former exec as a witness under oath to have panicking Church of Scientology agents scrambling for an quick exit.

I doubt that there has been any direct contact between Davie and the hired lawyers. They would have been managed though CoS's in-house lawyers.

(Davie likes to micro-manage, but he also likes to insulate himself from trouble. The Texas attorneys argued that Davie wasn't related to this case. Tricky to do if he's the guy ordering them around on the phone.)
