/speculation I'm guessing the theatre was rented out although, in this case, Scientology is not obscured by the CCHR front group but by Linda Lagemann. She is a doctor of psychology who offers on-going training as required by a statutory "behavioural sciences" licensing authority . . . this lures in the unwitting professionals in the field who are ambushed with a pile of Scientology bollocks . . . rather than CCHR being front and centre, it might be that Linda Lagemann and her "on going training" is serving as the Scientology front. This sort of behaviour is straight out that part of the Div 6 Scientology manual dealing with "Zone Of Influence" with the resulting PR reframed for the cults' internal audience. Its kinda similiar to what happened at Ocean FM - someone goes into the studio to talk to some unwitting disc-jockey about a drug education programme - hey presto - it them becomes a Scientology WIN. IIRC, Phd's are given to non-prescribing psychologists, ie: the ones who do not have a medical license as well as their psychology doctorate. I think it means about 6 years of schooling rather than 8 or more, but I could be wrong. Been a long time since my psych classes but I seem to remember my psych prof, herself a phd, explaining things this way. I can't imagine why anyone should take her seriously when it comes to actual psych drugs as she probably only got the barest amount of training in the actual medical properties of such things.
Ph.D. does not equal M.D. Psychiatrists must complete their M.D. Psychologists only a Ph.D. and in some jurisdictions not even that. ETA oops. Dongcopter said the same thing and more. Nevermind.

There are several different types of degrees where the people might be called a therapist. A Master of Social Work can be called a therapist. LCSW: licensed clinical social worker. You can earn a Master of Marriage and Family degree, earn a license. LMFT You can earn a PhD or a PSyD, both of them 5 year terminal degrees, and get licensed as a therapist, the PhD is a research degree (in theory), while the PsyD is more a clinical degree. Both can work with patients In all those cases there is a requirement for 3000 hours of supervised clinical work, ie, actually treating patients. that's 18 months minimum full time, most take 2-3 years to get the requirements and pass the testing. This is not exhaustive, but it is what i've seen on the past years. A psychiatrist is a Medical Doctor with specialized training, same as an internist, neurologist or proctologist. I think that New Mexico allows some PhD to write prescriptions, but typically, only an MD can write script.

That first page article doesn't seem to exist. I've looked both through their archives and with a google search using "Psychiatrie" and/or "Commission des citizens pour les droits de l'homme" and the closest thing I could find are two articles referencing a change in the law that allows commitment of mentally ill people who do not comply to treatment, about which Contrôleur général des prisons Jean-Marie Delarue expressed concern. This is dated around febuary 2013, not september. and Does not mean it does not exist (perhaps they do not publish all their content on the net ?), but it does not look good.
