If they really want to put pressure on Mubarak, how about the protest outside the Presidential Palace, not 15 miles away at Tahrir? Protest crowd close up speaks louder than one miles and miles away...

Spiegel Online reports that the plans for Mubarak to go to a german clinic are more concrete than previously assumed and they even mention specific hospitals. Several german politicians associated with the ruling parties are quoted as saying that he is welcome to come if he wants to

Same as Tunisia. No one in that crowd seems to be dressed scruffy. (The jean jacket? Probably cost a lot.)

When the young well-dressed want you to go, don't stop to worry about AirMile points.

I think every moron who simply repeats US government talking points should be made watch that.
  15. Anonymous Member

The US government/Israeli talking points, disseminated through the MSM, are now taking an even more dire tone, now that the "OMG, Muslim take-over w/o Mubarak" story is getting little traction.

today the protesters held a symbolic funeral for a journalist - Ahmed Mahmoud who was shot as he filmed the clashes between protesters and riot police from his Cairo office. Protesters are demanding an investigation into the cause of his death. Full story here: http://aje.me/hqTHAH
and here's an interview with Al Jazeera's correspondent Ayman Mohyeldin who was detained by the military yesterday and held captive for several hours http://english.aljazeera.net/video/middleeast/2011/02/201127160284430.html

Good luck running the massive bureaucracy that is the modern State without any sort of leadership or hierarchies.

    It can't be that hard.

I've been thinking about what to do to increase the pressure but still prevent rioting or splits. I think a small delegation of the protesters, say 50 people, with LOTS of cameras and LOTS of attention, go out each day to a separate portion of the society, and call for them to join in Mubarak's peaceful ouster.

For example, I would first march to the TV station and demand that they "speak for the people" rather than Mubarak. Hold a few-hour protest at that location. Ask why they WON'T speak for the people. Each day a group goes out from Tahrir Square like this. They are an extension of the Tahrir Square group, so if anything happens to this subgroup, it is as if it happened to all.

I'm so happy that Egypt has chosen nonviolence. Gandhi is singing. And I wonder, what would Gandhi do? The above is what I think he would do next.

I would like to see stuff like this actually on every Egyptian embassy or such. Whatever rises pressure over the international community...

So you missed the part where pro and anti protesters were slinging rocks and Molotov cocktails at one another?

You apparently don't fact check much. I suppose you'd have us believe, as Mubarak's thugs has purported, that they just accidentally stumbled into the square with camels, horses, whips, swords, knives, homemade spike maces, etc. There have been countless news reports from all the fuck over (even US media, finally) confirming that the so-called Pro-movement were hired hands, and the few who still speak out FOR that movement are OBVIOUSLY full of shit, as their stories are full of holes. Also, you're a fucking waste of air for promoting this propaganda. Die in a fire.

sooner than you might think, but the man behind the curtain will be pulling all the strings.

The government organized it and bulked it up with police and paid thugs, yeah, nobody is really questioning that. But that's not the point. I was just pointing out that this hasn't been non violent. Really don't know why you're getting so mad bro.
