Freewinds in dry dock ?? 2010 Oct 17 photos

I don't quite know what to make of these photos.

It appears in some of the photos that Freewinds is in dry dock.

But in other photos dated the same day, she clearly is in water.

Photos are dated 17 October 2010.

Location appears to be Aruba (gleaned from other photos in the set).

There are lots of photos in the set, here is a sample.

Picasa Web Albums - JS Maa - 2010/10M FREE...

Some of the photos show the Freewinds in the water, but not these photos:

Freewinds in water, also 17 October

Maybe the camera has a glitch in the date?
Maybe the Freewinds is not in dry dock in the first set of pictures, and I just am
    interpreting the photos wrong?

    I don't know < scratching head >

Also, most of the group in this set flew in from Taipei - they posted their plane
    ticket stubs in the set.

Photos of running on the beach, swimming in the ocean, doing push-ups?, a
wide range of roughly 150 photos.

man what a shame. for roughly the same prices you can go cruise ANYWHERE else where it isn't covered in asbestos or shared quarters, and actually dock in America!

As too your mystery, I can't see any dates on the pictures themselves. Is it possible she was iin Dry Dock and floated out the same day?

The drydock photos come after the floating photos. Note the dirty residue at waterline when she's afloat - mostly gone in the drydock photos. Looks like routine inspection to me, akin to a checkup on your car.

it could have been all on the same day, it doesn't take long for the port authority to show up with a tug boat when the engines shit the bed. everything could have been fine when they docked, and then later that day they wound up dry docked.

    My 2 cents:
    - No photo at sea.
    - Photos dated 12-17, with a vast majority on the 16th, not in chronological order.
    - People staying in an hotel.

TL;DR These people attended a course ashore or aboard the FW while it was in the port. At the end, the FW was in dry dock.

The fourth paragraph of the Nov. 15, 2010 Papiamentu article you posted in a separate thread says that the Freewinds "very recently spent a few days in our shipyard". Perhaps "recently" means October.

Translation: "Captain Mike Napier pointed out that, on two occasions, the Freewinds used the Curaçao drydock for major renovations to the ship and very recently spent a few days in our shipyard."

One morning, my 36' boat was in the water. By afternoon and a trip on the TAMI lift, she was up on blocks in the boatyard. Same day! Amazing how that works...

Also, who the fuck would wear a t-shirt that says DEFIANT on it? It's about like having BUTTHEAD on your shirt, lets people know you're a difficult idiot.

Barb, the defiant t-shirt is an IAS one. Resolute, defiant, whatever, I forget the words. The photo set has a better shot of the same t-shirt.

For some reason, I thought going from water to dry dock was a lengthy process, taking days to do. Goes to show how little I know about this stuff.

"Dauntless, Defiant, Resolute". Which in real-life terms means Spineless, Compliant, and.... uh... suggestions for the last rhyme, anyone?
