The purpose is to have THIS machine pretend to be the person holding the electrodes of the emeter, so the student-auditor can learn about different needle movements on their emeter, and for the student-auditor to "practice" and auditing session without having a real person hooked up to the emeter. The student-coach (the one coaching the student-auditor) pushes buttons to make the emeter do things, and the student-auditor has to respond correctly to the needle movement on his/her emeter.
