    it's really difficult to tell...
there is an Organization of Contractual Mariners, but i'm not sure if they are also about technicians and labourers doing the kind of job that Nordic offers...
probably not, but i'm still investigating.

I've contacted Greenpeace who were very interested in the story as they are currently already involved in trying to block the movement of the French aircraft carrier Clamentau because it is filled with asbestos & pcb's that will be removed and put into landfill.

Any further info on current location of the Freewinds and the final location of the blue asbestos would be helpfull

I think the ship is in Curacao but have sent message to forumantilles on youtube to verify. HE would be a very good contact person for your Greenpeace contact to speak with. He's the Dutch man on Bonaire who's taken video of the Scilons paying someone off to be able to dump their raw alien shit inland on Bonaire. His name is Sean Patton (hope spelling is correct.)

There is already a list compiled over on OCMB. Many pages of lists of scientologists who have been on the Freewinds:

Operation Clambake Message Board :: View topic - Celebrities on the Asbestos-contaminated Freewinds

Here is a list of "A"

Curiously this gets a mention on BBC News today.

BBC NEWS | England | Tees | 'Ghost ship' firm in legal threat

The company doing the job are Able UK: Able UK Ltd - shipbreaking, offshore, demolition, port facilities, ship breaking

Curiously, not connected to the sci front group ABLE - The Association for Better Living and Education International

:p Yeah I knew my spelling of the ships name was incorrect, I was at work and didn't have time to go looking for the correct spelling.
I know of the carrier because I'm a monkey hanger myself and have watched the whole "Ghost Ships" saga with Able UK unfold.

Keep thinking of this every time I see the mesothelioma commercial ads.

But we need to remember that this type of cancer does not appear right away.

So as much as this is stirring up a cause right now, imagine what may happen if those poor Polish workers begin contracting this disease in the coming years.

And it'll be all Scientology's fault.

(Although this is an emotionally subduing topic - people contracting cancer without their own knowledge, and the greedy organization responsible for it not giving a damn - to an extent, I'm glad to know there's a lot of support. There are hundreds of lawyers in different countries of the world that will flock to this sort of case and not hesitate to bring down walls, which is something that even CoS's fleet of lawyers might buckle against.)

Yeah but... Doesn't LRH say somewhere that asbestos is totally safe -- that we don't need less of it -- but more? That it's safe to eat and therefore safe to breathe? That fiberglass insulation is more dangerous?

Here is my Freewinds media megathread on Clambake which has been going since the news first broke in April. All media link submissions by various posters have been edited into the top post so everything is together. Plus there's other links to ongoing discussion threads & stuff. There's probably nothing new for people who've been following this story closely and it just brings a lot of stuff together in one place for convenient reference....

ah bugger. No sooner had I posted that when OCMB goes down with mysql dickyfit. LOL. It'll be back up soon I expect.

(TL;DR is the captain of the Freewinds participated in a UNEP meeting, and a PDF is publically available that lists important people who might enjoy a harpoon. If any of this has been covered, sorry but blame the DDoS.)

If anyone feels like doing some organised raising of awareness about recent events and the Failwind's history, the following is a list of participants at a July '08 UNEP meeting at which its captain spoke:

It's not a leak, it's on a public website. The original document is here: http://www.cep.unep.org/meetings/2008/13th-igm/2008-08-07.8044050059/download

Note that I'm not suggesting the meeting was on the Freewinds, or that these people have even been on it. But I am suggesting that they probably don't know as much as they should, or could.

Yes, much more relevant and timely. This was posted over at Failwinds hosts a Martime Pollution Seminar? WTF? - Scientology Exposed with a bit more info as well. The original news link has died since, so thanks for the update.

    UPDATE (=win!!)

Polish shipyard workers may sue the Church of Scientology?

    (source: Polscy stoczniowcy pozw? Ko?ció? Scjentologów? - Wiadomo?ci - WP.PL from 9th October)

240 Polish shipyard workers may bring the American Church of Scientology to court. Why? During a general overhaul of the ship, belonging to the Church, the Poles had to remove deadly dangerous carcinogenic blue asbestos - learned tvp.info [a Polish news tv station]

The employer has concealed the fact that the "Freewinds" contained mortally dangerous and carcinogenic blue asbestos. We were alarmed about this by the workers themselves - says Witold Maliński from the Polish branch of the company Nordica Engineering.

Persons who have direct contact with blue asbestos, are usually taken in with mesothelioma. This rapidly progressing disease is a very malicious - and always lethal - form of lung cancer.

Nordica stopped the renovation and brought their workers back to Poland. However, the shipyard workers had already removed more than 70 tons of the carcinogenic material from the ship. What is worse, they had been accommodated aboard the "Freewinds" for one month and a half.

We are considering the possibility of demanding compensation for the exposure to health and life risks on behalf of our workers. At this moment, the company's owners are consulting the workers about a possible lawsuit
    - Witold Maliński from Nordica Engineering admits.

During talks with Nordica, the leaders of the Church of Scientology denied the presence of blue asbestos on the ship. But - as discovered by tvp.info - the cult was perfectly aware of the amount of asbestos on board.

"My father supervised the repair works on the" Freewinds" in 1987 and saw blue asbestos" - Astra Woodcraft, an ex-member of the cult, wrote on her blog. She is currently occupied with revealing the truth about this mysterious organization. Lawrence Woodcraft even produced an official affidavit about this case.

Astra Woodcraft also revealed that, according to the beliefs of the Church of Scientology, asbestos is not harmful and cannot cause lung cancer. Such healt problems may only be caused by... opponents of the sect, who do not agree with Scientology's beliefs.

Re: Freewinds Update... Big News and some very Angry Polish Workers

It was interesting. Spoke with a high ranking (but not OT) clam last weekend re: asbestos on the Failwinds, and he wasn't concerned about it in the slightest. I don't think pushing the clams getting all asbestosified is going to do much... it's the poor non-$cifags who've had to work on there that'll be the paydirt.
  28. Re: Freewinds Update... Big News and some very Angry Polish Workers

They'll believe their OT powers will protect them...even as they hack their way into an early grave.
  29. xenudu Member

Re: Freewinds Update... Big News and some very Angry Polish Workers

Not even OT powers in this case! They think the tech is that omg!amazing?

Re: Freewinds Update... Big News and some very Angry Polish Workers

OMG, I hope that they do, they certainly should sue and get huge compensation (I'd say a record breaking figure). The big issue for them will be finding the correct target(s) in the miriad of Scilon corporations. When they do and when they win they will then have to find the money. Perhaps they would do better suing diddy Davy Miscavige (hello OSA) instead - people, unlike money and companies are much harder to hide; not withstanding Osama Bin Ladin

Yet another example of the cults somewhat questionable ethics.

Re: Freewinds Update... Big News and some very Angry Polish Workers

Asbestos lawsuits usually come close to crippling whoever is getting sued. Knowingly putting 240 workers' lives at risk? Someone could be looking at paying out billions of dollars.

240 lives. I hope Nordica is helping them get the proper medical attention they most likely need right now.

Re: Freewinds Update... Big News and some very Angry Polish Workers

Yes, use their own tactic of suing them out of existence.

Re: Freewinds Update... Big News and some very Angry Polish Workers

So we all knew that the cult was aware of the amount of blue asbestos. It appears that some lawyers (not attached to the cult and not going through the US legal ststem) now have that proof, right?

They may not think that it can cause lung cancer, but it sure can eat away at the pocketbook. And the Cult DOES have some deep pockets.

And just TRY to find an impartial jury somewhere. Most countries don't even recognize the cult as a church. And they don't want it transferred to a US court, either.
  35. Anonynamefag Member

Re: Freewinds Update... Big News and some very Angry Polish Workers

THAT is their argument?! "We're not responsible because our religious texts say asbestos doesn't cause cancer"?

Lol. I hope the cult is ready to pay out the ass. No judge with half a brain will accept that argument in court.
  36. prot Member

Re: Freewinds Update... Big News and some very Angry Polish Workers

Note that it's not an oppinion of a lawyer, but info found by a journalist of the tv station tvp.info and referring, i guess, to the Lawrence Woodcraft affidavit and what Astra wrote on her blog.
