Sucking up to the local community. This will no doubt keep coming up every time something of theirs is challenged.

Note how they cunningly avoid doing any charity work themselves, they just provide the facilities for others to do it so this statement is a lie:

  4. Re: Golden Era golf course is open, free of charge

Would CCHR or YFHR be a charity?

Re: Golden Era golf course is open, free of charge

So why did they close the course in the first place and make themselves unpopular with the local community? I thought that was because of enhanced security worries they had about Gold?

Has Gold become less attractive, or less important, or something?

I'm confused, does the first sentence of the quote have anything at all to do with the rest of the paragraph?

"Any nonprofit group can schedule a golf tournament at the course."

we are certainly a nonprofit group.

Nah, they're part of the con, it's that quirky scilon think at work. Charity rewards down stat ergo it is bad said Hubbard, however buying all my lovely consumables for my front organisations to use brings in money for me ergo it is good. Okay he didn't publicly say that last bit but that is essentially how it works.

The bulk of the costs for CCHR and YFHR are in consumables, including license fees, purchased from the parent organisation(s) which are paid for by members of CCHR / YFHR and "donations" from public scientologists. They're just part of keeping the money flowing in to the organisation calling itself the church of scientology.

I think that they're really legally required to allow public access in some way. Due to their tax-free 'charitable' nature. Although I'd love to see them argue in court that maintaining a golf course that's closed both to the public and most of their own members, is 'charitable' activity that benefits the public.

We should check their full conditions and see if we're elligible to use the course ^^

It is a curious paragraph, isn't it?

Sneaky suggestion is lulzy. Visualize GF masks on all the golfers in thar.

Yes and we can have a charitable gathering for funding the legal costs of people opposing scientology.

Re: Golden Era golf course is open, free of charge

Someone should calll and ask them EXACTLY what charities they give money to and get a list.
All that money to buy a police dog?

"We're in the business of helping people. It's what we do"

Fishing derbies and boy scouts? And they handed out NO Scientology stuff to these people?

They are making money hand over fist with this scam.

This has SO much stink all over it, it makes me sick.

ALSO.. doesn't this show further "buddying" with the cult and the Hemet police department?
Wonder how many fundraisers Jeff Stone attends there? Or how many times he plays, or if he plays?

Hey, I not down on the Scilons when they do something right. However, it's worth noting that this golf course used to be open to the public, and was swallowed up by their compound. It's believed that it even made money. People complained when they closed it to the public. Given how much they love money, the only reason I can think that they closed it is that they are afraid Anonymous might show up with golf clubs and look over their fence.

Re: Golden Era golf course is open, free of charge

How's about getting some golf balls printed up and lobbing them over the fence onto the course?

YouFoundTheBall.com would be an original approach ;)

Re: Golden Era golf course is open, free of charge

I'd like to see the requirements of the agreement to build Golden Era Productions. There might be some exploitable legal issues that can raised against scientology.

    • Do Sea Org staff maintain the golf course?
    • If so, are there local requirements requiring unionized labor?
    • Is there a legal contract that Golden Era had to sign, involving golf course requirements?
    • If Golden Era doesn't follow golf course requirements, can Golden Era be fined, or other legal action taken?

I don't live in California, so I don't know what laws or regulations might be applicable. But it is interesting that a scientology spokesperson admits that Golden Era Productions is tied to legal requirements for the golf course.

Re: Golden Era golf course is open, free of charge

Anonymous is not a registered non-profit...so that won't work.

But I bet some people here are associated with a non-profit in the southern california area...and might want to suggest this as an option to that group.

    I am doing so...

One thing I wonder is...by letting groups use the grounds for free, does the cult take off any taxes for whatever they think it was worth? I bet they do.

if the Elks club had this big golf tournament fundraiser, dont you think they'd put it on their website:

The Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks of the USA

Oh look, it seems some friendly Elks member saw they were having a fundraiser to buy the Hemet police a K-9, so he forked over $15K.

ive come across lots of charities in the area planning charity golf tournaments, but oddly enough, i haven't found one planned for good ole' golden era
