The new org in Pasadena went empty for a long time. They threw a not-so-grand opening, attended by three people?
I think it is still empty, or should I say cleared?

Add to that list the $5 Million Ideal Org in Atlanta. No activity there. Except Property Taxes. ;)

St. Paul Minnesota has an empty future ideal org. They bought an old science museum building, so it's large. They hold occasional events there, probably to pump money out of people, but mostly it it sits there empty. The active org is in Minneapolis.

As far as we can tell, the new building at 650 S Clark in Chicago, IL isn't active. They promised the community there will be up to 180 employees working there.

Wow. Looks like curtain tech taken to a whole new level. Even a built in chute for quickly getting rid of those pesky, discarded meat-bodies quietly and without sorrow.

More like deserted. Wasps are now occupying the windows outside. They still argue that they currently renovating it. Best $12 Million spent. Good job, Scis.

They bought the Ideal CC here for $6 million, waaay above the asking price.

Unfortunately, the grand opening party is this Saturday, so they're actually moving forward :/.

    Keep posting!
It would be helpful if you know the year the buildings were bought and how long they have been vacant.

Downtown Detroit is empty. Can not tell if they have done any work on it.
    It was bought in 20087

Raymond James Financial Services sold One Griswold St. in Detroit, MI, to the Church of Scientology for $3.5 million, or approximately $70 per square foot.

Built in 1926, this eight-story office building is in the central business district along Detroit's waterfront. The building features an on-site property manager.

Sam Munaco and Angela Arcori of Signature Associates represented Raymond James Financial Services, and Tim Jarzembowski and Dave MacDonald of the Staubach Co. represented the Church of Scientology.

OMG 20087? They are buying buildings in the future?
Why not? their members are falling for buying fantasy buildings now, why not in the future?

The new org in Las Colinas is supposed to be an ideal org, but the Dallas org is saying they plan on moving in this week. Only time will tell if the new building lasts.

The Las Vegas Ideal org was purchased in 2007, on Emerson ave, buried between arpentment complexes and tract-homes near the corner of Desert Inn and Eastern Ave. They started renovating it, but sits in a perpetual state on incompletion, they also failed to maintain the landscaping which has grown wild over time and looks like hell.

Early in June 2008, they removed ALL the signs identifing the building as an org and started renting it out to REAL religious organizations as a congregation and meeting space.

Also: Pre-chanology, back in 2005, the scilons opened a Celebrity Center in a busy strip-mall on the corner of Decatur and Flamingo (roughly 2miles/5minutes away from the Las Vegas Strip). It only lasted six months before thay had to close it because they couldn't pay the rent. That space is now occupied by a Tux and Bridal shop.

San Diego purchased the old Coleman College building, and its still as empty and vacant as it was a year ago. I think they added a "no trespassing" sign and that's about it.

re: Ideal Org and List of Buildings Bought And Are Still Vacant

The building has had some work done on the inside of it, but the old Raymond James sign still remains on top. The lobby has been renovated, but due to curtain/dirty window tech, Detanons have been unable to acertain if further work has been done. They haven't been using the building, though. The protests have continued at the Farmington Hills location, where there is free parking...

San Diego Ideal Org closed escrow back in May of last year. As far as we can tell, they're not doing anything with it, it needs lots of renovation, and all they've done is used it for a Halloween party and a "disaster preparedness" seminar.

I guess this list should also include Narconon centers that were bought and are now closed? Or do they rent those out?
If not, lets add them to the list too.
I think there was one in GA????

Actually ANY building that was purchased by COS that was going to be used in any COS capicity that is still vacant. Any Hubbard schools??

This list is mounting. I will compile it.

re: Ideal Org and List of Buildings Bought And Are Still Vacant

Ok, I will go through this thread to add what is missing in the list. I need precise addresses though in order to file properly each property. Also, I will assume I can use and embed any of the pictures here (I source back to where the picture was obtained, .i.e here). Any well-sourced info for amount paid/valued, and buyer/seller entity and/or person is also welcomed (can be news items, PR, gov data, etc.). Thanks for the contributions.

ok a question comes to mind : since those rented buildings are owned by scientology, do they pay taxes on the rent?

re: Ideal Org and List of Buildings Bought And Are Still Vacant

I doubt they pay taxes on anything.

Are you going to complie this list? If so, I won't bother?? Dont' want to put this list all together if you are already going to do it, or have already done it? HALP??

re: Ideal Org and List of Buildings Bought And Are Still Vacant

Well this has been an ongoing list for a while, to which info is added as me and [unnamed contributor] find it. I went through the thread, but it is difficult, as I need an exact address for each of these. My project is to keep track of when/how much/who for each property. This is time consuming, and I just see that if many post here what they know about a single org in their area, that would be just great (exact address, when bought, how much, buyer and seller entity/person, etc, all with reliably sourced references).

Your project is to collate how long buildings have been empty. I just see that we can use the same list, I could provide a link which generates a tab-delimited list of all the properties, which you use for your own project?
