Even in these hard times if you have enough people you can raise money. The UK's Children in Need appeal raised around £26million in one day. The Idle orgs means only one thing, people do not want.

    UK:
Note: Local council planning databases for the orgs below were checked today 19th Dec 2011.

Northumbria (Gateshead): former Windmill Hills nursing home, Mulgrave Terrace.
Unoccupiable, falling apart, vandalised, roof of one section almost all burned in a fire, now sporting some remedial scafolding and flapping tarps. No building planning applications submitted per Gateshead council public access database planning database. Still fundraising. There is a generic change of use to a place of worship/religious instruction (D1) on file that was granted in 2007 under the agent/owner's name which is cultie Richard Pickles but not under the Church of Scientology who don't actually own it on paper (no access to latest land registry at this time to check if title ownership is still Pickles).

Plymouth: former Royal Fleet Club, Morice Square.
Unoccupied. Not renovated. No building planning applications per council public access planning database and news media article from 15th Dec 2011 below. Still fundraising.

lol how inviting and churchlike to have a NO TRESPASSING - VIOLATORS WILL BE PROCECUTED sign taped to the front glass door.

The City of Chicago link doesn't work though.

That shitty building is just begging for some spraypaint, flouro orange, just to let people know who owns it.

Hell, that's not lawbreaking, it's a public service.

    Hello.

Sydney's 'Ideal Org' is still sitting empty after 2.5 years, and is in a bad state.

Note: Someone has plastered a Marxism poster on the building, LOL

And what on earth is going on inside? This is a homeless shelter not a renovation!

    Hai!

Has it occurred that the building is not suitable for dwelling in? You've seen that place just as I have and it is a wonder why CSAInc hasn't been directed to do something about the hanging guttering and awning ceiling that looks like it could fall any minute.

I still reckon they are using the place for nefarious reasons. Like, an RPF's RPF in the sub-basement. Go past there late at night and you will see the lights on on the very top floor.

201 must be very close to being condemned, imho.
It looks like a hazard from the exterior

Hey clamo, perhaps you have heard the Org is now moving? (again) :D

    http://www.forum.exscn.net/showthre...-Org-situation&p=658599&viewfull=1#post658599

Technically it may be illegal for dwelling, though we can't prove anyone is sleeping in there. I have heard that staff are in there around the clock 'guarding' the building.
  21. LOL!

It's also funny that they saw fit to put the C of S sign on there first before anything else. Or was this their old property that they plan on fixing? Either way it is still a laugh.
  22. Zhent Member

They have been in the property since 1980, and vacated it in 2009 so it could be upgraded to 'ideal'. They were suppose to be putting a new sign up but of course like everything else it hasn't been done.

For further info check the above ESMB thread.

Just a belated heads up that the CoS met with Birmingham City Council planning officers in November/December last year, to discuss their proposal for a change of use for the Pitmaston building. See here.

There appears to be no further info.

New Haven Org (The Old Hallocks building) still remains empty and in disrepair and as far as I know it has been forclosed?

Also their little org right up the street?
The store on the corner has moved out.
Today was the second time I have passed by it while in that town and it was CLOSED at 3:30 PM.
Pretty strange considering that stats are due tomorrow?
The last time I was by there was on Feb 2nd, which was a THURSDAY at about the same time and it was also closed.
    Scientology is simply bustling!

If they plan to raise the $10M locally, that's probably a quarter million per scilon. It's been five years...

Pasadena though, was HIDEOUS during the abandonment prior to it's renovation.
Leaks in the roof, standing water on the floors. There were many pictures of the mess.

They might have some major structural damage that was just papered over for the festival of "grand opening". I understand the place remains almost deserted... more than a year after opening.

Would you be interested in reports/pictures of abandoned properties that eventually got cleaned up? Or just the ones that are still vacant, today?

    NEW HAVEN REPORT
    Is it closed?

ok New Haven's Ideal Org that never happened (the Hallocks building) is still looking as horrible as ever. Last report is that they went into foreclosure.
I went by the SMALLER org right down the street yesterday and I noticed that the front display windows were totally empty and the potted plants that they had in the smaller org were now sitting in the parking lot of the bigger building.
One of two things..... they are folding and the plants are now freebies.
They are changing the window displays and the plants are moving elsewhere. But why move the plants all the way to the parking lot?
Anyone know if this org is closing???
If I can possibly get back there, I will do another drive by.

Church of Scientology pledges to invest £6m in Moseley mansion - Birmingham Post

The Church of Scientology has broken years of silence over its future plans for a listed mansion in Moseley – with a pledge to spend £6 million on a major restoration.

The American church, whose followers include Tom Cruise and John Travolta, says it proposes a ‘complete and sensitive’ restoration of the former Pitmaston building in Moor Green Lane to ‘bring the property back to its former glory’.

The Scientologists issued the statement days after the Birmingham Mail revealed mounting disquiet over the church’s intentions for the building, which has been left empty for years, sparking fears that the Moseley landmark could fall into disrepair.

Graeme Wilson, UK public affairs director of the church, said: “At the moment, consultants are working on preparing the various reports required for the proposed refurbishment. These are nearly complete and we will be consulting the community in the coming months.

“The plans involve a complete and sensitive restoration of the building, which is likely to cost around £6 million and will bring the property back to its former glory.”

Meanwhile, Edgbaston-based Willoughby Public Relations has been appointed by the church and confirmed the firm had been hired to liaise with planners from architects Broadway Malyan over the future of the mansion.

Julia Willoughby, chief executive of the PR company, said in a statement: “We are working with the planning team on the community consultation for the change of use of 123, Moor Green Lane, Moseley from a B1 to D1 use. (offices to educational use)

“Our role is to ensure that the consultation process is carried out properly and that local people get an opportunity to feedback on proposals.

“In doing this work, we are not doing PR for the Church of Scientology, but providing the necessary communication channels to inform and gather comments for the planning submission.”

Ms Willoughby confirmed that the PR agency had been hired by the Church of Scientology.

If they don't establish a deadline, it'll drag on forever, like the Superpower Building.
