As artist I see the art world increasingly shaped by the system of fairs and galleries. it is a play between the parts, where the common denominator is to reduce the artist to a passive presence, the important that he pays… The art market is always in the limelight of the spotlight. No wonder of tho power (buying) and this direct relationship with (selling) a artwork. More than anything else this state of things reflects cynicism with which the auction houses speculate on the crisis.
If rich people didn't spend ridiculous sums on pieces of art, you would have nothing to complain about since there would be no art galleries or art auctions.
