Jan Eastgate head of CCHR ARRESTED

    Jan Eastgate's quote factualized:
"While compassion, common sense and decency declare sexual abuse of patients to be a serious and criminal abuse, scientologists sanitize it -- even the sexual abuse of children."

Speaking of that, anyone know how Rex Fowler is doing?

Contacted Bryan Seymour again with what little I had to offer (that he was mostly already aware of); he responded in less than 5 minutes, I shit you not.
I'd written because I'd *just* called 5 local news station about the story. Only 1 sounded interested; I could hear clacking of keys as the woman I spoke to typed details into her system -
"Do you have anything you can email us on this?"
I told them they'd find all they needed if they googled Jan Eastgate, then emailed them some links and supplemental info.
Have at 'em if you wanna: newstips@king5.com

Even 2 emails about this would make them listen more closely.
I can't remember the last time I gave a sloth's ass about the local news...

Nowhere in this article does it say that toddlers will be "labeled & drugged". Early intervention!=drugging and labeling.

I hope he doesn't. I want Jan to go down with the full support of $cientology. More collateral damage that way.

Media probably won't run much now because the arrest and charges are stale news, but they may well mark it in their diaries to attend the court session so contacting news outlets and letting them know is still a good idea.

    It's brilliant!
  15. I suspect you are right. The challenger disaster swamped news of Hubbard's murder death, and mother Theresa died a few weeks after Princess Diana and generated very little interest (which would surely have pleased Christopher Hitchens). It has been noted that this happened on a labor day weekend. My guess is many outlets had the labor day printed paper done and the first morning edition of the next day done before they went on holiday and said screw the online updates or let the cadet journos do it. There may have been no afternoon editions of printed papers. Most of those journos would have been hung over after the labor day weekend and would not want to work that hard the next day. Like you say, by then it is old news.

I think we can take is as read that USA outlets now know about this and Sweeney has apparently been informed. The hearing will hopefully generate news to the masses. The trial and xenuwilling the conviction will definitely generate interest.

Just avoid the pseudoephedrine, unless you like shaking and being crabby. And don't do too much dextromethorphan...trust me on that.
Back to the topic at hand: I'll be ranting in a video in 12...11...

When is Jan Eastgate up in court next?
  26. Anonymous Member

    Sorry, I meant to say:

when is Jan Eastgate of scientology front group 'Citizens' Commission for Human Rights' (who latched onto a case of psychiatric abuse for the benefit of the scientology cult) due in court in Australia on charges of perverting the course of justice in a child abuse case?

June 16th. So we should contact media everywhere on June 15th.

Just to let them know that Jan Eastgate of scientology front group 'Citizens' Commission for Human Rights' (who latched onto a case of psychiatric abuse for the benefit of the scientology cult) will be in court in Australia charged with perverting the course of justice in a child sexual abuse case.

For those Anons in the Western Hemisphere, make sure you do it on the 14th... keep in mind the time differences.
  31. Anoobymous Member

Thanks. I can never remember the damn time difference.

Still mightily pissed at American media, so went for solo raid. Sign read:
    "JAN EASTGATE
    ARRESTED
    ANN PEARCE NEXT?"

Can Jan's legal team get the Jun 16 court date pushed back? I wanna see if she's thrown under the bus. Her case sounds like shit to me...

Scientology Quack Dr. Mark Filidei needs to here from you! Yep this quacks wife even sits on the board (Spokesperson) of the CCHR. She and he rant on about the evils of Psychiatry, while pushing his vitamins and alternative medicine. I wonder if he knows that Jan Eastgate has been arrested? If so how does he reconcile the child abuse with being a so called doctor?

I think the fact that there's been fund-raising emails on Eastgate's behalf (even though they omit the purpose) suggests that Scientology isn't going to throw her under the bus. [BTW: Has it been confirmed that those CCHR fund-raising emails were sent post-arrest? I didn't notice] I don't think Scientology would permit her to tap the CCHR mailing list for legal-fee fundraising otherwise.

it was posted by Pooks on ESMB she would be able to verify the date
  36. Scatman Member

Correct. David Miscavige will not disavow her because she could turn on him, become a state witness, and imply him. If she gets convicted, he will declare her an S.P., but committing a crime to benefit the scientology crime syndicate is permissible as long as you don't get caught.

  37. You've got it all wrong. It's just a facade.

    The Image projected:
He's raising funds for her work, then she will get arrested for "Perverting the Course of Justice" Which is the result from the Evil Psyches beating her. She is thus unjustly imprisioned and you must continue to donate.

    The Reality:
This is just another opportunity to reg people for money. All proceeds from this go straight to DM's Coffers, and he cuts a small check for CCHR. Because of the small amount of funds raised, CCHR continues to raise funds. Jan is arrested for her crimes, but DM has projected the image that they tried valiantly to save her but it's THOSE DAMN SPs AGAIN!!!!

I do not believe they would be allowing her to do this if they were certain of her conviction. In fact, I think they believe they have good defenses to the claim and can win at trial. I believe this would be after their lawyers told them this. Therefore, I don't think this case is a slam-dunk. I believe it is worth prosecuting, and that Eastgate did the crime. However, I'm biased, as I despise the cult, and Eastgate personally.

The fact that she's so high-profile is also certainly of importance. Her being convicted would inevitably hurt the cult and discredit one of their primary and more successful social outreach attempts. However, if she had no chance of winning, there would still be no percentage in paying for her defense, or even allowing her to pass around a hat for donations. In that situation, their best bet would be the toss under the bus to minimize their involvement.

Also, apparently, they do not believe Eastgate will turn on them. I think they believe, probably correctly, that if the time comes to fall on her sword to take the full blame and exonerate the cult and do any time she gets.

My prediction, or more to the point, my wild-assed guess, since the outcome depends on a lot of things I don't know, but am basing on my read on the cult and Eastgate's behavior, is that they will aggressively raise a host of defenses, basically promising the prosecutor a long, drawn-out, expensive battle of uncertain outcome. Then there will be a more-or-less cushy plea deal, depending on how good the case is now. If allowed in Australia, they may also try to harass and/or buy off the victims and other witnesses to secure their lack of cooperation with the prosecution.

Throwing her under the proverbial bus or not, the CoS/CCHR will not pass up the opportunity to fundraise.
