"Describing the family as "heartbroken" over the loss of the platform their show represented"

And just what was the platform your show represented Duggars?
Having too many kids to the point it is dangerous for both mother and baby and over populating the world in hopes that you can disseminate your religious crap?
The stupid and ass backwards beliefs of Quiverfull? (or very close to Quiverfull?)
How to turn your kids into robots and women into baby making machines?
Crushing women's dreams of ever becoming anything but a slave to to their husband?
Hiding your son the child molester?
Teaching your daughters to lie to authorities and to make them think that what happened to them "wasn't all that bad" and just a mistake? lol
    Fuck off Duggars! buh-bye

Broke-Ass Duggars Forsaken By Their Lord, Please Send Money | Wonkette

If you’re driving through northwest Arkansas and see some sort of fundamentalist Christian lemonade and prostitution stand on the side of the road advertising two side-hugs for $5, that’s probably the Duggars. They have fallen on hard times, due to how TLC’s advertisers finally decided their already toxic family was toxic in a sexual molestation kind of way. Are they actually poor? We don’t know, it really depends on whether they’ve used the Lord’s reality television income responsibly. They’re panhandling for cash, though, but do NOT give it to them. They’ll only fritter it away on Bibles and hush money, ALLEGEDLY.

    Consider the evidence:
    • The Daily Beast reports that Jill Duggar Dillard and her husband Derick started pimping donations on their blog right after the cancellation of “Cannonball Vagina Jesus Hour,” but don’t worry, that money is for their “ministry” in Central America, though if they just wanted to get the fuck out of the U.S. for a while and decided Central America sounded nice in the summer, we wouldn’t blame them that much.
    • The Daily Beast also reports that “Duggar niece” Amy (you know it’s not one of the proper Duggar children because “Amy” doesn’t start with a “J”) asked people on Instagram for “cards and etc” to celebrate her engagement, but maybe “and etc” doesn’t mean cash at all, maybe it’s a cry for help and she wants drugs, so many drugs, for having to be a member of that family.
    • The Duggars have a “movie studio” on YouTube and they need you to help fund their “productions,” which are “good.” Like, look at this moviefilm here called “Duggar Pillow Patrol.” No, it’s not a documentary about Josh Duggar visiting his sisters’ room as a teen, it’s something else:

Statements From Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and Josh Duggar | Michelle's Blog | The Duggar Family

Statement from Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar:

Please see the statement below from our son Josh regarding recent media stories about him. When we learned of this late last night our hearts were broken. As we continue to place our trust in God we ask for your prayers for Josh, Anna, our grandchildren and our entire family.

    Statement from Josh Duggar:

I have been the biggest hypocrite ever. While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife.

I am so ashamed of the double life that I have been living and am grieved for the hurt, pain and disgrace my sin has caused my wife and family, and most of all Jesus and all those who profess faith in Him.

I brought hurt and a reproach to my family, close friends and the fans of our show with my actions that happened when I was 14-15 years old, and now I have re-broken their trust.

The last few years, while publicly stating I was fighting against immorality in our country, in my heart I had allowed Satan to build a fortress that no one knew about.

As I am learning the hard way, we have the freedom to choose to our actions, but we do not get to choose our consequences. I deeply regret all hurt I have caused so many by being such a bad example.

I humbly ask for your forgiveness. Please pray for my precious wife Anna and our family during this time.

    - Josh Duggar

Well again, I feel really bad for the people he hurt! His poor wife and kids... they didn't deserve this!
I've known men similar to Josh... some are able to recover, and some are not. With his lack of personal insight and unwillingness to be truthful... the odds don't look good for him. With 19 kids it is statistically likely that there will be at least 4 more of the kids that will have issues with Porn, and at least one who is gay. There is also likely a child or three with some kind of learning disability or delay.
For me the saddest part is they are not a "bad" family... most of what they are doing is likely to produce healthy, strong, independent children... but this family fails when it comes to teaching human sexuality, and doing the things that would actually protect the kids from both being victims and from becoming abusers. They don't understand the research about what is actually helpful in creating emotionally stable, healthy adults. The saddest part for me is with a few small changes, this family could be exactly what they wish to be.

There is always a problem, a weakness, a fault that a person or family can work on. Anyone who can't see that in themselves or their family is at high risk for really screwing up themselves and their kids. Being less than perfect is not a bad thing, thinking your perfect or close is a VERY bad thing!

No, what they are doing is producing raging Jesus-bots of the worst kind. They are brainwashed into accepting absolute authority and magical thinking. There's no independence here, the only one actually breaking the mould and doing things for himself do so out of sexual urges too strong to repress.

  20. Amen to that, Random guy :p

Lord save us from 'Raging Jesus-bots' piously parroting and pontificating about morality, while their behaviour shows they have none of their own.

By their fruits shall ye know them.
  21. RightOn Member

indeed. A product of his asshole parents.
For "Jim Bob" (or whatever his name is) to impregnate his wife for the 19th time is just utterly insane. She almost died and her baby had complications and having that many kids in this day and age is wrong IMO, and puts too much of a burden on the economy and resources.

And yes Wrong Guy is correct with the Duggars wanting to raise an army of Jesus bots. It has been denied by a few that the Duggars follow the "Quiverful" beliefs, but I don't know how accurate that is, because their quiver is certainly full! And the vids I have watched of Mrs Duggar talking about raising all those kids is just plain creepy.
And now another family has taken the Duggars place on TLC, (stay classy TLC!) called the Bates. They also have a shit load of robotic kids with daughters who are taught to cook, clean and serve their men at very early ages and are taught that is the reason they are on this earth more or less. JUST SO SICKENING. The girls raised in these families never have a chance to think or learn any other way. Some of the Duggars who just got married are already having kids and staring their own Jesus army. I HATE THIS STUPIDITY AND BRAINWASHING!!! ARRRGGGG!!!

At least papa Bates helps out with the kids. Can't see that with Jim Bob.

Let me be clear... the things the dugger's are doing right is the positive parenting approach they use.
The lack of better education is not good. However, the rest of the approach is quite good speaking from a pure statistical likelyhood approach.
Regular religious attendance as a child reduces the likelyhood of depression, mental illness, poor school performance, teen pregnancy, drug use, and other high risk choices.
As does regular family dinners around a table, as does positive parenting, as does being given responsibilities. These are all considered "good" parenting by the professionals in the fields of psychology and sociology.
  25. Kilia Member

@nightfire...if what you say is really true, then what happened to Josh?
Why didn't all those things work for him?
  26. nightfire Member

Well, There are a few explanations for Josh from a psychological-sociological stand point.
    1. The lack of good education
Proper education is also a key to good mental health and being well adjusted. The lack of evidence based sex ed, and open talk about those subject isn't good. Statistics show clearly that families that talk more openly about sex, and are open to questions and giving fact based answers have less issues with Porn, molestation, etc.
    2. Josh was likely a victim himself
This doesn't excuse his actions, though it would certainly create a high risk factor for him becoming an offender himself.
    3. Josh wasn't given professional counseling when the problem was first known about.
The earlier a person get professional help for these types of problems the more likely they are to recover from them, and move forward in a healthy way.
    4. As a parent you can do everything right... and still have kids turn out not so great.
As much as people would like to think if they just check off all the right boxes everything will be fine... it doesn't work that way. These things only decrease the risk factors they don't eliminate them. There isn't a way to eliminate the risks, that should not discourage people from creating the most healthy- helpful environment for human growth and development possible.

The Duggers (like all other parents) did lots of things right, and lots of things wrong. They didn't do everything wrong, nor did they do everything right. Generally speaking though they did more right than they did wrong. The things that they did wrong will have fairly predictable and fairly treatable problems, (if the person desires to overcome the problem in the first place)

This issue isn't black and white (few are) Anytime you are dealing with humans it gets grey very quickly, and in social work you have to look at the entire structural unit of the family. You have to give props to the good that is happening, and then also convince people to change the wrong things that can hurt the family, and increase risks for bad outcomes. Most of the time all you have to do is educate the parents about how their choices are hurting the kids... parent's don't usually intentionally harm their kids. This seems to be one of those cases (unless you have evidence that I haven't seen that indicates otherwise)

In difficult times, the Duggar family has one unbending rule: Look to God.

Amid a fresh disgrace for oldest son Josh Duggar, whose molestation scandal in May ultimately resulted in TLC pulling the plug on 19 Kids and Counting, parents Jim Bob and Michelle have stayed true to this very value, which they instilled in all of their children since birth.

"We have committed to Him that in all things – difficulties or success, good times or bad – we will purpose to bring Him honor by staying true to our faith and our family," the couple said in a statement regarding the cancellation that was posted on the family website.

It is no secret that the Duggars have centered their lives around their religious beliefs. The couple have created a conservative Christian belief system that has become the foundation for their approach everyday life. Despite what continues to be thrown their way, their faith remains the highest priority.

"Even though we would never choose to go through something so terrible, each one of our family members drew closer to God," Jim Bob and Michelle said in statement following the child molestation scandal. "We pray that as a people watch our lives they see that we are not a perfect family. We have challenges and struggles everyday. It is one of the reasons we treasure our faith so much because God's kindness and goodness and forgiveness are extended to us – even though we are so underserving."

Even amid rumors earlier this week that Josh, 27, had signed up for infidelity website Ashley Madison, which prompted Josh to admit Thursday that he cheated on his wife, Anna, and developed an Internet pornography addiction, the Duggars' focus on faith has not shifted.

"When we learned of this late last night our hearts were broken," Jim Bob and Michelle said in a statement on Wednesday. "As we continue to place our trust in God we ask for your prayers for Josh, Anna, our grandchildren and our family."

With religion as the centerpiece of their lives, the Duggars are no stranger to controversy over their fervent beliefs.

"Even though Wikipedia and some Internet blogs report that we are part of a QuiverFull movement, we are not," the Duggars wrote in their book, A Love That Multiplies. "We are simply Bible-believing Christians who desire to follow God's Word and apply it to our lives."

On the family website, each Duggar child has his or her own bio in which they state their favorite Bible verse and character. According to the site, Josh's favorite Bible verse is Joshua 1:9, which reads: "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

By creating relationship and courtship rules, teaching the importance of modesty and implementing the the significance of living a life through Christ, Jim Bob and Michelle continue to instill these teachings to their children – both younger and older – to this day.

"Our entire lives, we've worked toward this, prayed about it, and encouraged our children to really just focus on becoming the person that God wants them to be," the couple wrote on their family site. "We've always urged our children to wait for the one that God has for them, and not to make compromises in their life in any way."

"I know everybody is laughing about this Josh Duggar story. Oh, a DUGGAR on Ashley Madison, it's so rich! I wish more people would talk about Anna. I normally keep things light on Facebook, but let's talk about Anna. Let me tell you: Anna Duggar is in the worst position she could possibly be in right now. Anna Duggar was crippled by her parents by receiving no education, having no work experience (or life experience, for that matter) and then was shackled to this loser because his family was famous in their religious circle. Anna Duggar was taught that her sole purpose in life, the most meaningful thing she could do, was to be chaste and proper, a devout wife, and a mother. Anna Duggar did that! Anna Duggar followed the rules that were imposed on her from the get-go and this is what she got in reward- a husband who she found out, in the span of 6 months, not only molested his own sisters, but was unfaithful to her in the most humiliating way possible. While she was fulfilling her "duty" of providing him with four children and raising them. She lived up to the standard that men set for her of being chaste and Godly and in return, the man who demanded this of her sought women who were the opposite. "Be this," they told her. She was. It wasn't enough.
What is Anna Duggar supposed to do? She can't divorce because the religious environment she was brought up would blame her and ostracize her for it. Even if she would risk that, she has no education and no work experience to fall back on, so how does she support her kids? From where could she summon the ability to turn her back on everything she ever held to be sacred and safe? Her beliefs, the very thing she would turn to for comfort in this kind of crisis, are the VERY REASON she is in this predicament in the first place. How can she reconcile this? Her parents have utterly, utterly failed her. Think of this: somewhere, Anna Duggar is sitting in prayer, praying not for the strength to get out and stand on her own, but for the strength to stand by this man she is unfortunately married to. To lower herself so that he may rise up on her back.
As a mother of daughters, this makes me ill. Parents, WE MUST DO BETTER BY OUR DAUGHTERS. Boys, men, are born with power. Girls have to command it for themselves. They aren't given it. They assume it and take it. But you have to teach them to do it, that they can do it. We HAVE to teach our daughters that they are not beholden to men like this. That they don't have to marry a man their father deems "acceptable" and then stay married to that man long, long after he proved himself UNACCEPTABLE. Educate them. Empower them. Give them the tools they need to survive, on their own if they must. Josh Duggar should be cowering in fear of Anna Duggar right now. Cowering. He isn't, but he should be. He should be quaking in fear that the house might fall down around them if he's in the same room as she. Please, instill your daughters with the resolve to make a man cower if he must. To say "I don't deserve this, and my children don't deserve this." I wish someone had ever, just once, told Anna she was capable of this. That she knew she is. As for my girls, I'll raise them to think they breathe fire."

  31. Random guy Member

It does? Science says results are mixed:

Teen pregnancies and religious attendance: http://ase.tufts.edu/economics/papers/linda_loury.pdf
    Depression and religious attendance: http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/760666
Mental health and religious attendance: http://digitalcommons.unl.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1176&context=sociologyfacpub
School performance and church attendance (checks out): http://jrre.vmhost.psu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/25-4.pdf
Drug abuse and religious attendance, only when young: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2859299/

So, there's not really a basis for drawing the absolute conclusion you do. Being hauled off to church every Sunday in the US is associated with a lot of other socio-economic factors that also correlate strongly negatively with various forms of risk behaviour (i.e. the church goers tend to be solid middle class folks, the types least likely to skip school, have teen pregnancies etc in the first place). Go to Scandinavia where the educated middle class are less represented in church, and the picture changes.

Let's Go To Rehab With Josh Duggar And Learn How To Give Our Penises To Jesus | Wonkette

Once upon a time, a teenage boy called Josh Duggar got in BIG trouble with his fundamentalist Christian mom and dad, for sticking his fingers inside his sisters, so they sent him to a big city called Little Rock, where a “family friend” could teach him not to do that anymore, through professional counseling doing manual labor and talking about Jesus a whole bunch. And it worked! (They say.) Josh Duggar never diddled a family member again! (That we know of.)

And when he was growned up, Josh Duggar put babies in his Good Christian Wife Anna, but when she wasn’t looking, he liked to get on the internet and look for strange ladybusiness to put his pecker inside, including these two times when he did violent sex to a hardcore porn star lady, utterly terrifying her, and totally distracting him from doing God’s Work at the Family Research Council, teaching people how to hate gays and birth control.

So now, off Duggar has gone again, to a Jesus-loving sex rehab, where he will receive professional counseling do more free manual labor and talk about Jesus some more, and never ever put his penis in a forbidden hole again!
