At a formal dinner party, guests will start eating again, talking amongst themselves and the toastmaster will have made several less than discrete coughs if a speech stretches towards the 6 minutes mark. In a less polite setting, people would jeer and call for the speaker to hurry up and come to the point. In an internet forum, they are even less patient. Protip: The chances people is going to read or listen to a message is inversely proportional with the length of the piece. Stick to the point. Avid posturing. Use regular English.
