So, since this is one of those things that real people ought to care about, some folks in Boston were talking about getting together some text for letters to our Senators and Representatives about how they're handling the whole WikiLeaks issue and maybe telling them to cut it the fuck out. I'm working on a first draft now, anyone up for helping out?

I think we'll get the most mileage with one "form" letter and then individual letters targeting people who have said really retarded things.

It would be cool to send the same letter to everyone in congress at once, at their DC and home offices...They're back in session this week after a break for tucson. Did you write a draft?

Something very simple & to the point. There are many web sites that allow you to E-mail your local government & provide a form letter but also allow you to add your own comments. I most always receive a direct E-mail response from my local Senators & Congresspeople after they receive one as a result. Below is example of organizations that provide these form letters.
What's cool about these organizations your E-mail is automatically sent to your local representatives in your area & you're encouraged to always add your own comments:

Just a simple letter with quotes from Glenn Greenwald &/or National & International supports may be enough.

Please note I have no skills & developing such a web site & its just an idea.

Individualized letters are far more effective than form letters btw. Congressional representatives aren't going to give two shits about form letters unless they're getting hundreds of thousands of them.

The original idea was to have it set up where we have physical copies of the form letters available for people to either add their own content to or just sign. I don't think any kind of online petition or letter-signing is a good idea for this kind of thing, it's very impersonal and it's too easy for people to click the button and go "WHELP, I DID MY PART!" and walk away forever.

I found this video particularly inspiring in regard to writing politicians:

It's a seven minute TED conference that gives insight on how to get your letter noticed/how to build rapport with politicians. The most peculiar/interesting part of the video is the suggestion to hand write the letter. A friend and I are going to try it out.
