Marcab Confederacy Uniform Patch Right now I'm working on re-working the Marcab Federation logo into a design for a patch as one to use on a "Marcabian Uniform" costume. I'm looking for any feedback or ideas for where I'm at currently. It seemed practical to me to go for a circular design on it, but with the reefs the logo itself is actually oval. Anyway, this was my first shot. I've been trying to make something in a rectangular design to just see how it works out. I've also been thinking what could work is to just get rid of the reefs and just use the center circular design alone. I think thats what I'm gonna try next. I'll just keep posting new ones that I've done as I make them, so please feedback on this as I plan to print the final on fabric to use on Marcab costumes.
Re: Marcab Federation Uniform Patch I like it...but the font looks a little boring. We are from OUTER SPAEC, remember? I would also put the plant thingies facing the same way rising up from the bottom like the other logo and then have the text rounded going around the borders.

But I'll try changing them more to fit with what you're saying, I might use the style they have for the Battlestar Galactica logo (Edit: scratch that its different from what I was thinking). Anyway, I'll see what I can do with the font also. Here's my latest with a cross between the circular and rectangular fitting:

Re: Marcab Federation Uniform Patch Ok so I've got quite a few fonts to work with, including Transformers, Starcraft, Blade Runner, Battlestar Galactica, Soviet. Also the ones recommended above. I'm gonna try redoing the second one with different fonts and the right text.

Re: Marcab Federation Uniform Patch I actually like the soviet font too, it matches a russian military patch I plan to use on the other shoulder for my uniform. I'm gonna emboss it. If anyone else likes any of the other fonts or wants to recommend some others post and I'll will take note.

Re: Marcab Federation Uniform Patch Co$players :roll: /me adjusts his new pirate hat BTW 'Marcabian Confederacy' might be better, 'Marcab' on it's own looks quite stretched compared to 'Confederacy' Also a uniform patch would make more sense to have your unit on it: 9001st covert invasion recon force.

Re: Marcab Federation Uniform Patch First, the patch is basically supposed to be the patch to identify nationality, like military uniforms with the US flag etc. Any unit patch would be separate and go on the other shoulder. At least thats kinda the intention I had behind designing this. Also, I will be able to make a lot of these, so anyone who wants one can have one. So if you really want me to send you one you can PM me or something. As for the text, "Marcab" is actually normal, and "Confederacy" is squished every time to fit it. It's something I've been struggling with

Re: Marcab Federation Uniform Patch Thanks! If you want to print it yourself, be my guest. But I haven't really made anything final yet. when I do I'll up load it formatted for printing. Otherwise I'll be printing a lot myself on canvas, and I can send them to people who want them. It would be awesome to get it actually made into an embroidered patch, but, like getting a flag made, it costs a lot. Anyway, all I'm gonna do for myself is just stitch (or maybe glue) the canvas onto the costume. Anyway, I may be making some changes, I'm gonna try some new, better looking soviet fonts. And I might change the black background to a navy blue.
Re: Marcab Federation Uniform Patch Ok I think this is getting pretty close to final. I made the background really dark blue instead of black, a new and improved soviet font. If anyone else has anymore feedback now would be the best time to provide it. Otherwise I'll just format it for printing and get on with it. Edit: Of course like an idiot I forgot to post the pic

Re: Marcab Confederacy Uniform Patch FINAL I know Thats been a problem, but its either that, or making it really small, or changing it al together. Perhaps Fleet would work better, although it actually doesn't work very well with the font (It just looks like normal text, doesn't look very soviet)

Re: Marcab Federation Uniform Patch Heh, just because they tell/ask me to do it doesn't mean I will/have to Oh well, I don't really want to change it to "Marcabian Confederacy" since that just doesn't sound right to me. I also suggested "Fleet" as a possibility, but like I said before it doesn't look good in the font. Anyway, I've just been doing some trial prints trying to get the colors right and I think I just got it. It looks pretty good to me. Looks like the canvas will work pretty good.
Re: Marcab Federation Uniform Patch Alright, printing operations are in full motion! I can print up to fifteen every 19" of canvas, and I have a lot of canvas folks. Not that I expect to be giving away hundreds, but I can print more than enough. I just need to run out and buy more ink (I was already low when I started). When I get back I'm gonna print another sheet, and then ill post PICS. And I really can't say enough I think these turned out AWESOME, a lot better than I thought they would when I started this.

Re: Marcab Federation Uniform Patch I will mail to anywhere there's an address, just PM me. As for how to apply these onto clothes. Just straight thread and needle stitching would be my recommendation, a sewing machine would be best since the canvas might be a little tough for doing to by hand (but it should be possible). That or maybe you could use some kind of fabric glue or something. The one thing I must say is... DO NOT IRON THESE! The heat will lift the ink from the canvas. Also on that note I cannot guarantee in anyway how these will handle washing. The canvas is supposed to be "water resistant" but it would still be my guess that soaking it in water is not the best thing for these. I may do a test with one and see what happens. If I do I'll report my findings here. My solution to get around the washing problem, is I am going to try to just sew the patch onto a piece of velcro, and then sew the other piece to the clothing. But I can imagine that wouldn't work too well on some light clothing.
