The hearing for Ed Bryan, originally scheduled to be held today in Miami-Dade Court, was, obviously handled behind the scenes so Bryan would not have to appear in court. Bryan's attorney filed a motion on 9/15 for Bryan to be tried in absentia for the 2nd degree misdemeanor. The docket is confusing.. it looks like the judge may have found him guilty and fined him $500, which is the maximum fine for a 2nd degree misdemeanor, but the face page reflects that the case was dropped. Discharged on 9/21 by Judge Rodney Smith.

Eh? If it was case no 13-2011-MM-036121-0001-XX, it says that the case disposition is 'nolle pros', which I undersdtand means that the charge was dropped by the prosecution.

Oh well, I guess that's $500 the cult won't see then.

You probably correct. The face page says that. The docket for the case, however, is confusing.

It is. And, probably deliberately so. What's clear is that there will be no courtroom testimony or complaining witness, no oaths or discovery or revelations. (even about something as inconsequential as the 'SquirrelBusters'); so, exactly as predicted.

Maybe he stood mute to a lesser charge, got fined and the fine was suspended yadda yadda. Will be interesting if not particularly enlightening to find out.

Courts have no time for such trivial offenses when the accused agrees to plead guilty to a lesser charge.
If the Scientology corporation had had him plead not guilty, then there would have been a trial, but smart cult lawyers are smart.

Scientology = proven to be criminal once again

And, even more importantly, if there's no complaint or it's been withdrawn. The DA *can* still prosecute, but, wouldn't bother. According to Marteh there are dozens of complaints and counter-complaints filed by and against him. It's no surprise that you will *never* see one go to trial.

A witness stand for anyone involved is anathema to Marty.

Rinder wouldn't go anywhere near a situation where he would have to give evidence under oath.
