Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time We've been advertising this protest all around the place and spreading the news about the upcoming protest. The feedback has been great and the interest shown has been amazing. This May, Melbourne Anonymous brings you another protest of epic proportions. This month, we will be hitting hard! We will show Scientology that Anonymous is not a force to be dismissed. We cannot be ignored. Preraid as usual for newbs and people who want to relax prior. Meeting at 11am for coffee at Krispy Kreme melbourne central. Re: Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time Update: so far the amount of people who have shown interest in this is bloody tremendous. We'll have more people coming to this one than we've had at a raid since the early days of Chanology.
Re: Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time There'll be at least 2 people that I KNOW of which will be coming with video cameras, and a few with digital cameras, hopefully we'll get more with video though. this protest will be so many levels of win.
Re: Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time the numbers are still rising. rising, rising, rising everyday ;O
Re: Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time You keep this up, you'll need a melodramatic David "Slappy the Squirrel" Miscavige voiceover to do it (great) justice.
Re: Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time Can't wait! I hope all these people that say they are going are definitely serious about it, cause that would be just swell.
Re: Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time If you want to keep your secrets that's fine, but I was just curious: how are planning to do this? Will you have a hueg number of fliers? media precense? ex-members speaking? Banners? Xenophon? Nudity of the female variety?
Re: Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time Huge number of people according to current numbers of those who have said they'll be coming. We're trying something we've never tried in the past, which if it works we'll do again and let everyone know of so you can get it working for your protests. We'll have ex-members, yes, more than usual. Hopefully a few will speak. HUGE NUMBER OF FLIES is definitely needed though. how to get money for that = the only problem. Here's a hint at how hard hitting this is going to be: I came home today to see the new number of people saying they're going and almost had a heart attack. It's ok, Melbanon is not keeping secrets from other anon cells, we just want to test things to see if its worthwhile and helpful before hand
Re: Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time unfortunately our raid falls on the date of the Same Sex Marriage rally in melbourne.... hopefully they don't get in our way, and we don't get in theirs. Seems a group of people with them WILL be at flinders street at 11.30, and hopefully moving off by the time we meet up at 12.30
Re: Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time They always seem to schedule their rallies when we start coming out of our basements
Re: Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time Usually I am not a big fan of 'fancy' fonts, but the title looks nice.
Re: Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time Thanks I made the logo when I got bored one night, haha. Pickles: haha. they're actually bitching at us, saying "You need to get your priorities straight" and that what we're doing is "trivial" -.-
Re: Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time I lol'd. Just goes to show how blind sided they are. I bet they wouldn't think what we were doing was so 'trivial' if they knew what they do to homosexuals in the Sea Org. Oh but wait, I forgot, the right for two dudes or two chicks to get in fancy dress and wear gold ring bands on their fingers is of much higher importance then an abusive cult that enslaves people and is attempting to obliterate a legitimate science by infiltrating governments. Not that I'm against gay marriage, I just don't believe in marriage in the first place. Kinda annoys me though their arrogance, by their logic I could also argue that their priorities aren't in order because they aren't doing anything to fight the abominable abuses of homosexuals in places like Iran by calling for gay marriage here. Of course it's besides the point, what they are fighting for is a worthy cause in their eyes. I'm guessing few of them have ever actually read up about the cults crimes or they wouldn't be saying that shit. They just see it as a small cult with a handful of people dumb enough to fall for it's spin.
Re: Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time Amanda: yeah they're very blind sided. You wouldn't believe it. I started an anti-sexism group at my old university a few years ago, and Socialist Alternative tried to stop me. They were opposed to the idea. Why? Because of these reasons: 1. it would stop me from being able to put all my effort into SA (I was a member once) 2. i was fighting the 'wrong' thing. (Sexism is caused by CAPITALISM in their mind) 3. it'd help the right wing people assemble against SA (WHAT?!) Just because what we do falls outside their hatred of Capitalism, what we're doing is "trivial" Sure we fight for human rights, democracy, freedom in all forms.... but what do they care? It's not fighting capitalism. -.- urgh PS. more people coming to the raid. around 70 people saying they should be coming with around 130 people saying they "might" come. (according to our new way of advertising)
Re: Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time Kenji, if you guys do cross paths with the Gay Rights rally it would be a wise idea to try and push the whole "Scientology hates gays" angle, cause ya know, I'm pretty sure the gay community wouldn't like that all too much. As I recall, gays don't like it when you call them 'degraded beings who should be cured or killed'.
Re: Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time We're making an effort to avoid the other protests actually. probably best that way considering the aggression we've gotten from the Socialist Alternative members because of us protesting against Scientology on the 15th... But it was good when we last passed them, the Gay Rights people definitely liked us and cheered us as we went past We like them, they like us. Makes us happy I think sometime we'll organize to get gay rights advocates to come to our protests to talk about how Scientology discriminates against homosexuals. (as long as we don't get Socialist Alternative... and that wont be easy.. the NUS Queer Officer is a very angry, Socialist Alternative member)
Re: Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time Gawd SA seems to have its slimy little hands in everything don't they?
Re: Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time Social Alternative sounds like some groups I've encountered here. Self-righteous, humorless, and oh so very srs! They're just jellis cuz we make activism sexy!
Re: Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time They have successfully taken over the same-sex marriage rallies in melbourne. they tried to take over the no-clean-feed ones. if they EVER try to take over the anon ones, i'll lol. looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday btw!
Re: Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time I like the logo graphic with its cheeky fontplay. I want to climb all over it and hump it.
Re: Melbourne :: May 15th - Epic Protest Time Thanks Sponge! those designs happen when i get bored late at night and mess around in photoshop xD Numbers still quite high, this is going to be one massive, awesome, epic raid
