Any time you convert audio (or video) between compressed formats, you lose quality. It is usually better to avoid conversion wherever possible, and work with "raw" audio and video until you're ready to upload a finished product. or just ask the Internet President.
mp3, and anything you get from YT is already compressed. The best you can do is a straight dump, with as little fiddling around as possible. ^^^^ like that
