    OKAY EVERYONE.

I have just gone through archived threads from previous protests and PMed or eMailed every single person that I haven't seen around the forums lately in addition to eMailing 35 people whose eMail addresses I had from when they contacted me for the first protest way back in February. I think I've covered all bases here and we'll just have to see how it all pans out for us. If you have people you feel like you can contact, please do so and try to get a good headcount because I want to have hot drinks and cookies for everyone at the vigil and the protest.

So... yeah. My sister, hereon referred to as Chomilla (keeping with the North Korean vibe here), has had a victorious return to Tennessee for the holiday, so I'm off to bed so we can go do some stupid shit tomorrow.

SPREAD THAT NOISE AROUND GOOD PPL

    WE NEED BODIES

    Re: NASHVILLE, TN

Did a solo raid today which consisted of walking around the area looking menacing with my mask on. Met and talked with a guy who said he'd come on the 13th, so hopefully he'll make it. Got some honks despite having no sign and one chick drove by slowly and I saw her mouth 'what the fuck?' Stood in front of the org for a bit having a staring contest with a person in that bay window thing.

All in all, success. Tomorrow I might be going up for daytime flyering if I get a flyer I approve of, but definitely doing like... daily or every other day raids over Thanksgiving break. If you wanna join a raid, feel free, just PM me or Skype or whatever.

Also this week my sister (Chollima) and I will be doing that Soulja Boy video. If you want to take part, please contact me. We'll be taping at the Parthenon, maybe downtown a bit, on top of those random catfish, et cetera. We're doing it on a PowerShot but would prefer a video camera if someone has one we can borrow. We're aiming to do this thang early next week because she's going back to Colorado next Sunday.

And... yeah. Plz to help me make this epic once again.

Shit son I worked on that one so hard you don't even know. It started out as like... a random picture of a candle and then that one pic of Lisa and I was like 'FUCKING... I CAN DO THIS' and this is how it ended.

    I am pleased.

To be honest, I really don't fucking care to. If it bothers you then change your preferences so that you don't have to look at it. Now then, let us continue this thread on the topic it is supposed to be about. If you don't know what this topic is about then GTFO because it's obvious you weren't paying attention and probably don't plan on joining us. In closing; fuck you.

    Re: NASHVILLE, TN

Despite the shit weather, desudesu and I went out and flyered the area. We put up 102 flyers on West End, Elliston, Louise, 21st, Edgehill and Music Row before running out of flyers. One side of Edgehill and one side of West End are unflyered but I'll work on fixing that either Wednesday or whenever I make it up to Nashville with my sister. If anyone is available for flyering of any sort, PLEASE PM me and tell me where you're doing it. We definitely need to hit downtown, but that's a huge fucking area and I think we'd need more than two people to blanket it.

We got honks, desudesu handed out the why I'm wearing this mask trifolds, we had a nice and funny chat with Vandy police and pretty much superglued one of the vigil flyers on the pole in front of the CC.

tl;dr -- successful raid was successful, need moar successful raids involving others

    Re: NASHVILLE, TN

just drove by the org on my way home at about 11pm. looks like most, if not all of the fliers were still up...... couldn't see the one in front of the org... but i do remember that one was facing the building, so it wouldn't have been seeable from the road anyways...... so was it really 100 different phoneposts? Lulz i also happen to be off wednesday..... shoot me a pm i guess.

    Re: NASHVILLE, TN

    Awesome >D.

Hopefully desudesu and I will flyer a bit more tomorrow, probably the rest of 21st, the part of Edgehill that we missed, Hillsboro Village and maybe Centennial Park. If anyone wants to come, plz to PM.

    Re: NASHVILLE, TN

The flyer side of raiding was a massive, ticket-getting failure, but we wandered over to the org and held up a poster, got lots of honks including Mack trucks, two ambulances, city and VUMC buses, et cetera. Had a few conversations with people, so hopefully even though we weren't able to flyer what we wanted to, we at least got SOMETHING accomplished. It's pretty obvious that the general public isn't insanely fond of the Scientologists, heh.

And good news: the flyer we put up directly in front of the org is still there, HA.

I want everyone to look at everything that's right with this sign:

Pay $25 in advance, $30 at the door and get a booklet by L. Ron Hubbard to help you with your career. In wee letters, notice that it's sponsored by the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre Nashville -- my God, they actually used the word instead of hiding behind Dianetics! But what makes this epic?

    Jerry Lawl.

I swear we didn't put that there.

    Re: NASHVILLE, TN

was doing some research after this ticket fiasco...... apparently we are screwed
    as a group.

    OpenDNS
    apparently we've got :

Chapter 6.04 ADVERTISING SIGNS AND OTHER ADVERTISING METHODS
    Sections:

6.04.010 Prohibited on posts and poles.
It is unlawful for any person to affix in any manner any sign, placard, poster, card, banner or other indicia of the interests of any person, group or organization on any post or pole, including, but not limited to, light and telephone poles, on any street, sidewalk, thoroughfare or public right-of-way within the jurisdiction of the metropolitan government.
    (Prior code § 3-1-1)

6.04.030 Exemptions from provisions of Sections 6.04.010 and 6.04.020.
The metropolitan traffic and parking commission, the metropolitan board of parks and recreation, the department of metropolitan police, the department of fire, the Nashville Transit Authority and all other departments, agencies, boards or commissions of the metropolitan government and the proper agencies of the state and of the United States of America are expressly exempted from the provisions of Sections 6.04.010 and 6.04.020 in the performance of their respective functions directed toward the orderly movement of traffic and pedestrians of the streets, sidewalks and other thoroughfares within the jurisdiction of the metropolitan government and in making other lawful and proper use of such streets, sidewalks and other thoroughfares.
    (Prior code § 3-1-3)

6.04.050 Circulars or handbills--Distribution permitted when.
Any person residing and doing business in the area of the metropolitan government may, without being required to take out a license, distribute circulars or handbills advertising the business in which such person is directly engaged.
    (Prior code § 3-1-5)

    6.04.060 Conflict of provisions.
Nothing contained in Sections 6.04.030, 6.04.040 and 6.04.050 shall be construed to authorize any person to paint or erect signs, post bills or distribute circulars or other advertising material in a manner or in places not permitted by existing laws or ordinances.
    (Prior code § 3-1-6)

and as far as masks go... :

    11.12.040 Disguises--Prohibited in public places--Exceptions.
    A. For the purposes of this section, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them by this subsection:
    1. "Mask" means any mask, device or hood whereby any portion of the face is so hidden or covered as to conceal the identity of the wearer.
    2. "Public place" means all walks, alleys, streets, boulevards, avenues, lanes, roads, highways or other ways or thoroughfares dedicated to public use or owned or maintained by public authority; all grounds and buildings owned, leased by, operated or maintained by public authority; all buildings owned, leased or operated for the use of organizations enjoying all tax-exempt privileges as a charitable use.
    B. No person, while masked, shall be or appear on or in any public place in the metropolitan government area.
    C. The following persons are exempted from the provisions of this section:
    1. All children under the age of seventeen;
    2. All workers while engaged in work wherein a covering is necessary for physical safety and protection against occupational hazards or because of the nature of the occupation or trade;
    3. Persons while wearing traditional holiday costumes;
    4. Persons while engaged in theatrical productions or masquerade balls;
    5. Persons wearing gas masks in civil defense drills and exercises or emergencies.
    (Prior code § 29-1-38)

unfortuanately this seems to mean we've been screwed for months, and it just now caught up to us. we CAN hand out handbills as long as someone is a resident of the greater metro area, but masks appear to be against the rules and so is phone post flyering. At least that seems to be how i'm reading it. The big question is why now, and not 8 months ago?
  24. twistedpuppet Member

    Re: NASHVILLE, TN

If you read the rule on masks, there is one HUGE part that says we can. Where we protest, Capitol hill is not. We are fine because we are NOT in a metropolitan GOVERNMENT area. We're fine on the masks Desu. The putting up flyers on poles, maybe. However, the ordinance rarely enforced. It might be a good idea to go flyering in the middle of the night. You can wear a mask or just wear black face paint. It looks like late night raids are the only way to go.
  25. juche Member

    Re: NASHVILLE, TN

I, and probably Desu feels the same on this, will be taking a break off of flyering. The officer said that if we did it again, he would arrest us. If you guys want to do a night raid, feel free. I have a shitload of copies of the flyer and I'd be more than happy to get them to you so you can flyer your area or whatever, but I'm out of this for the time being. I have absolutely no interest in getting arrested for this.

hey im new to Tennessee and i will try to make it up to the protest.
Anyone have the address.. i need to map quest.

    Re: NASHVILLE, TN

I will refer you to one of the flier pics posted several posts up on the page. The address for the org is there. :) Happy to have you with us. December 5th we're doing a candle light vigil. December 13th is the main global protest. Hope to see you there.

    Re: NASHVILLE, TN

hey twisted... i do believe in the terms of the document "government area" is specified as areas under the jurisdiction of the metropolitan government. feel free to comb the codes to make sure. as i say in dire times "please prove me wrong".

gotta agree, fortuanately one of my strong points is i'm easy to read. Gonna be spending too much time trying to get this all sorted out to flier anyways. i am thinking that perhaps we may bill ourselves as a street preformance troupe to get around the masks thing. i'll try to dig in to the laws regarding that maybe? Every law has a loophole feel free to look for it.
  29. twistedpuppet Member

    Re: NASHVILLE, TN

Public place is defined. However, it doesn't really define government area. It specifically says any public place "in the metropolitan government area." I take that to mean you can't wear a mask anywhere near the government district. That screams security measure for government officials to me. It also says to me that it's ok outside of the government district. Local already spoke with a detective and from the beginning it's been clear that it is ok for us to be able to wear the masks. I didn't find the term government area defined anywhere in the codes. Therefore, we need to take it at face value to mean the area around the government buildings. This also means that when you and Juche go to court, we can't show up in masks to support you. :p

    Re: NASHVILLE, TN

heh.. damn these codes are confusing as hell.... trying to find street performance codes leads me to:

13.08.040 Offering merchandise for sale on or near public property prohibited--Exceptions.

    l. "Street performance" means any theatrical, musical, visual, or other presentation for entertainment purposes on the public way. "Street performer" means any person or group of persons who conducts a street performance.

yet i cant find any mention of street performance in the prior section. If these codes were a bit more clear we wouldn't be having this problem.... some of these are too open ended.

    Re: NASHVILLE, TN

O.K. folks.... how about instead of Nashville...come to Memphis....Bennetta and David Slaughter (Lisa McPherson's murderers) bought the old CoS in Memphis (1440 Central Ave.) with the pretense of turning it into a home and are living in it (although it's still listed with the tax appraiser as "religious use" building). A candlelight vigil on the anniversary of Lisa McPherson's death in front of the Slaughter's property would be very appropriate!
  39. twistedpuppet Member

    Re: NASHVILLE, TN

Might be a little too late to plan a trip to Memphis with the vigil being Friday. I was wondering where you guys disappeared to. I went to your off enturb site and it had been dead since mid month.
  40. juche Member

    Re: NASHVILLE, TN

Yeah, definitely too late to plan it. I have exams next week so leaving the area is a total no-go and besides, Desu and I already got into trouble for putting up flyers, so I'll be damned if I don't get some sort of Nashville payoff for it.
