Back in 1977 he was effortlessly strutting his stuff on the dancefloor.

But John Travolta might find it a little harder these days to replicate the disco moves he made famous in the film Saturday Night Fever. And there's certainly no chance of him fitting into that famous white suit.

The 55-year-old actor looked almost unrecognisable during a rare outing in Miami this week.

Sporting a black baseball cap, handlebar moustache and a baggy black shirt, the once-athletic Grease star looked decidedly portly.

And any thoughts of dieting seemed to be miles from his mind as he was seen feasting on a cheeseburger and a mammoth-sized portion of French fries.

One onlooker said: 'He definitely looks like he has succumbed to a little middle-aged spread. He is clearly not too bothered by it because he is still eating junk food.'

Travolta is said to have become a virtual recluse since the death of his 16-year-old son Jett, who died from a seizure during a holiday to the Bahamas in January.

Don't know why you're saying that. Scientology practices probably did not help Jett at all. But a guy putting on weight probably has a lot to due with depression over the death of his child. John T. paying to the church to have this guilt suppressed (if he did the proper Scientology auditing afterwards) definitely would not help him. rabble rabble rabble rabble.

Honestly guys, he's just losing some elasticity in his skin. It's common with age. I mean, for a dude that's 55, he's really not in bad shape at all. He's got a little weight under the chin, but again, 55. And the photo is terrible anyways since he's in loose clothing. You really can't tell if he's gotten "fat" or if it's just a little weight. Calm down.
