    Ah okay. Either Pesch didn't say the coach was the one holding the cans or I fail at reading.

    So the coach is making the needle move. If he is a nice coach he squeezes the cans a little more firmly when the student asks a question with a "yes" answer.

    It is bullshit. The drill requires false belief and coercion for the reads to be correct. It does not involve guessing, but agreed upon responses by the subject. In other words, if you did the drill on me, I could create random reads and verbally lie, which would make the drill a farce. You need to have unexpressed collusion for the scam to appear genuine.

    After a few weeks of doing this drill over and over, I would guess my coach was fucking with me. So to mix things up I'd slip in a question like, "Do you enjoy fucking little boys?" That is sure to get the needle moving, eh?
