-Psst! Hey, you want to buy one of these?
    What you got there?
    -E-meters!
    E-what?
-Religious artefacts. Thousand bucks a pop.
I'm not sure I really need one.
-They can be used for pastoral counselling.
Oh, why didn't you say? How many have you got?

The meters supposedly come from a batch produced almost a decade ago and have been stored in a warehouse since then. The EOL of a critical part is consistent with that story.

  3. Do you have to return your Scientology Mark VII E-Meter before the Mark Ultra VIII E-Meter you PAID FOR is delivered?

No refund unless something else already paid for is turned in? Sounds like straight up extortion to me. Has the appropriate DA or AG office been notified??

  11. It's as if Apple were refusing to send you your new computer until you turned in your old one.

Is there anything in the end user agreement of the VII that permits this? If not, then someone most likely has a consumer case.

would the FTC be interested in this perhaps?

There's a wog word for that:

    THEFT.

But when your eternity is at stake, you have to obey Tiny Tyrant. Quite logical, isn't it?

Since this involves interstate trade a complaint to the U.S. Attorney General's office by someone directly affected might have more interesting consequences. An FTC complaint at the same time wouldn't hurt.

Nobody with "standing" in the matter is going to make any sort of report to Law Enforcement.

    I am a retard.

    I am an aspie.

But I'm still fucking smarter than you. That's what 'high functioning' means.

Most likely a matter of opinion.

Were it not for the dollar amounts involved would this still be at issue?

df was talking about a guy who was murdered. WTF are you talking about?

If not driving has kept you off the grid then you are most likely smarter than me. One of the bitches of being a MIT grad is it is not overly anonymous.

May future generations benefit from your shining example. Thank God I will be dead by then

You did not read the link she posted. Shut the fuck up.
  28. Darling, the only reason I don't drive is because I live in a city and don't need to expose myself to the insane drivers, pedestrians and small children here. I take transit. It's cheaper, reduces liability, and it makes economic sense even to MIT graduates I hope.

I really hope you aren't dropping MIT so you can be namefagged (oh so not anon) for being the victim of said institution, but I would wager there's a fuckton of us here who have also contributed in our own lowly ways to this world.

DIAF ASAP and the world will be less another asshole.

I have read the link multiple times. Rinder is not someone I would quote as source but I do understand that some would love to slobber on his knob.

Show me the murder discussion in the link to Rinder's blog.

  31. So you needed to get insulting to ask this question?

Not my link BTW, I don't do Rinder either. I believe the murder link was in an semi-off topic mention of John Gotti.

Now you kids play nice now, I have to go to real estate class.

I have been namefagged since the enturb days. My photo was on the old enturb site while a company I worked for was being vilified. I will donate $100.00 to this site for anyone that can find the photo. (I will not lie if it is found but will not publish my cope of the same image)

I wish I lived somewhere that had decent mass transit. My grandmother lived to 92 with no drivers license and went everywhere she ever wanted to go.

I am lucky to have the transit. My own grandmother gave up her license in her 70's and it was a good thing too because she drove too fast.:D I don't mind freeways and country roads, but the city stresses me out (as well as drains the purse). I doubt we need another nervous dyslexic with spatial problems behind the wheel here.

I've been here a long time off and on as well, many socks past. I just want to get along...unless of course one is a scilon.;)

I've been here since Enturb also. I did go into extended lurk mode when the drama overshadowed everything else.
  36. Actually, I've taken enough real estate in one class to know I never want to do it again. I just gotta get thru this class (one more week to go) and walk away. But I am aceing my computer classes so I think I finally have an idea of what I want to be when I grow up.:p

    Mr hobson is right.

I am suspicious that this return is completely illegal. All of it. From what i understand under the UCC(uniform commercial code) section for warranties(I am also not a lawyer, so i probably am wrong), ALL the METERS, from the Mk1 to the Mk8 would have a warranty. The moment that it was revealed that they could no longer be used for their intended purpose of exercising space ghosts from the individuals bodies, or what ever it is that they do, they would have to be replaced at the expense of CO$.

However, because this is so completely absurd, as well as being done by a "church" I seriously doubt that any court would want to hear a trial about this unless the state was planning on assigning heavy fines.

This does raise a new question though, What are they going to do with the old meters? Will they be following proper electronics disposal laws? Those things are electronic, that means that they are made with lead based electronics solder, and therefore would count as hazmat in a lot of areas. Does CO$ have a license to dispose of lead based hazmat?

This whole thing is very fishy, and i am certain that if we monitor it enough as well as do our homework, we might be able to catch them breaking the law, and report it.

Apparently it never occurred to you that the old meters must be returned because the exorcised space ghosts travel through the cans and wires and on into the meters.
Another desperate comment by a bitter apostate. And you better believe it takes some real super powers and a whole lot of shuttered windows to dispose of all those exorcised space ghosts safely.
