Personally, I'd keep the ex spot for a more recent ex than Pooks. Don't know if dt2000 (Laura De Crescenzo) would feel able to speak - maybe depending upon Barry's legal advice - but she'd be great, as would Marc Headley. They can describe recent circumstances and what it is like to escape.

Re: New Orleans, LA: APA 2010

For the APA symposium, I'm going to keep my attitude as neutral as possible, and let the audience evaluate the information for themselves. The 5 topics we'll be presenting to annual meeting attendees (psychs and journalists) are:

History of CoS - by ex-scn
Beliefs of CoS - by ex-scn
Human rights issues - by WBM
Anonymous and You Tube - by me and/or Anon
What should psychs do? - by Dr. Stotland
Then we'll all be part of an audience Q&A session along with a couple of Anons.

I don't think psychs should officially be part of other seminars, talks, etc., other than just to present neutral information about mental health care. We should be helping to furnish information to others who want to do seminars.

And of course I'll join in the counter-protests as another Anon.

    ... and thanks, TD!

Re: New Orleans, LA: APA 2010

2 exes have already committed to doing talks. What might be really good is if they could both show a short video with a more recent ex-scn's story as part of their talks. Pooks has told her story for a smaller APA seminar, so they're more likely to approve the symposium with her in it. The limitation I have is paying travel expenses for more speakers. The APA won't pay anything, so we'll need to raise the money privately. Hint, hint.

I think we can speak with the APA about this. After all, Anonymous is a movement of volunteers--and I would personally have no problem with paying to speak about this.

I have been trying to find a group doing activist work in Louisiana for quite some time. I'm a fellow anon who lost touch with project chanology last year around march and I'm looking to get "back in the game" as it were. I have access to many high profile areas in the capital city with which to spread new information for our cause. Are there any events scheduled sooner (such as in 2009) around Baton Rouge or New Orleans I should know about? I personally know a few people who have been ruined by the local chapters. I'm also a member of the whiteband movement though our numbers have dwendled significantly. We must strike in great numbers, information is our ammunition and the internet is the mightiest weapon.

    This sounds fun!
It might be my first Anon protest unless I can find my way to another between now and May.
    But I'm most certainly coming.

If we can develope a cell from the 50,000 LSU students in Baton Rouge who love their free speach we can raid the local Church of Scientology. And ontop of that gain publicity through The Advocate and The Daily Reville (LSU newspaper) which will take off like a rocket with news. College students love to protest and speak there mind. I'm ready to rock whenever, we just need to organize.

Also I have plenty of fliers, pamplets, our flag and extra masks. Also a book of local protesting rights and special laws specific to Louisiana (since it is under Napoleonic Code and not the US Constitution).

The US Constitution applies to every state in the union. You wouldn't happen to be the product of Delphi or other similarly unaccredited cult school would you?

Re: New Orleans, LA: APA 2010

QFT. The US constitution applies, as does federal laws. The only main difference is that while the rest of the US states have a legal system based on English common law, Louisiana's legal system is based on the "Roman" or civil law system.

Re: New Orleans, LA: APA 2010

Of course Federal law applies and as does the US constitution. Louisiana is the only state that has not adopted the constitution under STATE law my friend. We still follow the Napoleonic Code (what is left of it) and there are thousands of ammedments to keep track of. Laywers with law degrees can practice law in 49 states of the US without haven't attended law school in the state they want to practice with the exception of Louisiana. If you want to practice here you have to go back into school to be allowed to practice in the state of Louisiana.

As I said STATE law is very different in Louisiana compared to the other 49 states, there are many many ammedments, ratifications, contradictions and so-on compared to other states. When protesting here you have to be ready to have it bent against you.

Re: New Orleans, LA: APA 2010

This much is true: LA does have the longest bar exam in the US. However I cannot imagine where you got that story about lawyers who have their JD from out of state being unable to practice in LA unless they go back to school in LA. This is from The Louisiana Supreme Court Committee on Bar Admissions with the relevant portion in bold:

citation Committee on Bar Admissions : Admission Rules

Finally, an internet lawyer like yourself should know that amendment is spelled with just two M's not three. So again you wouldn't happen to be a product of Delphi or some other similarly unaccredited cult school would you?

I'm no lawyer, just share a bed with one. I know anon loves taking punches at one another but is this really necessary? I happen to have my degree from LSU and Tulane. My degree is in what? Well sir, that is private, we are anon after all. I’ll just say removing scientology from my path is relevant to my interests.

Re: New Orleans, LA: APA 2010

Yes, the truth is really necessary. When you make statements around here which are dubious in nature, expect to be called to the mat on it.

Re: New Orleans, LA: APA 2010

Ah but there is no truth, only truth relative to you. No absolutes. As it stands Louisiana law is much different and based around civil law where judges don't have to make rulings based on past cases but on their own interpretation of the law. Lawyers can practice in 49 US states with a degree and no further training with the exception of Louisiana.

Re: New Orleans, LA: APA 2010

I'm actually positioned very near to USM, and personally know alot of college kids that would LOVE to go out and protest. I just need to start printing off fliers and stuff.
The New Orleans protest could potentially be HUGE if we gather enough support from both USM and LSU

Paraphrasing L. Ron Hubbard's "what is true for you is what you have observed yourself" quote? Interesting. However, in the real world we deal with the facts and the truth.

Re: New Orleans, LA: APA 2010

Hilarious, I was speaking from a communication theory perspective. Way to put words in my mouth. Natural science dictates there is no truth absolute, and all truth can be disproven/argued against. If there were absolute truths we couldn't move forward in science and society, information and experiments would become stagnant and progress would halt. Odd that you’d go out of your way to attack someone who just wants to stop the evils of scientology.

Just got to thinking about this again and I wish I had the extra money right now to take that flight out.

Good luck to all those going. It was fun converging upon San Francisco last year with the other West Coast anons, and I think it'll be more of the same for this one.

Re: New Orleans, LA: APA 2010

I'm planning to be in NO for the annual meeting, counter-protesting, etc.

Unfortunately, I won't be doing the symposium. After biting off more than I could chew, I didn't get the information put together in time. (Damn that day job!) Ironically, my problem was that I had TOO MUCH info to condense into short enough summaries by the 9/30/09 deadline.

There are a couple of very well-qualified people who are interested in putting a symposium together for the 2011 meeting, and I'm starting work with them EARLY.

Edit: I was going to edit my original post about the symposium, but I think the post is too old.

I know that I am probably not going to make it to this raid.

But I"m not going to STFU about it.

Because I'm damn pissed off that I'm probably not going to make it to this raid.

This raid should be a sticky.

This raid should be a banner ad.
