You've got a PR Flap. See the above. You might have a small child die in one of your Ideal Orgs any minute. Think of how the news would spread round the world if that happened. "Scientology Ideal Org Child Death Traps" in headlines in major news outlets all around the world.

Oh my God, I might have panicked them into sealing up that door but will they check if a small child has crawled inside before they seal it? Worse still, it could be somebody's cat or dog.

    Very good points well made.

Regarding security, I thought it was standard scilon practice for one of the men to sleep at the org because it saves on security / alarms etc.

I dont think theres any security on it anymore , theres been a light on in one room since we first went to the building and I did see someone going in age's ago with a flask and sarny's .

That might be the squatter and the serial killer operating in the area who found his way in through the kicked-in door he happened to come across.

Once people have broken into a place, it tends to keep on getting broken into. I don't know why: maybe on the first visit they see fixtures or scrap metal that they think they can sell... maybe they just find that nobody stops them and guess that nobody cares.

Long-term empty buildings deteriorate fast, and vandalism is only one of the problems they face. I think the council will have to make them to carry out work to prevent further damage, or face a series of fines.

BTW, it's normal to get rates exemption on a building because it's empty and awaiting renovations, but the exemption won't be indefinite. The council is losing a lot in business rates if they allow the building to stand empty with no taxes being paid for years to come. For a big job like that one, I imagine you might get two years at zero rates. After that... cha ching. The cult will have to offload it.

With the exception of QVS, which was acquired in good condition (via a tax-free dodge of buying the holding company that owned the building)... are any of the UK's Ideal orgs workable?

They are all "workable" if the money keeps flowing in for their purchase and upkeep with that money flowing through the coffers of the "Church".

But it would just fill up with batshit ... oh, i see ... no different

afaik the local council has zero interest in business rates with the jew golds from that going to central gov coffers, however if the building gets converted into residential dwellings like flats (apartments) the domestic rates do go to the council..

this might explain why it has become so easy to gain planning permission for such conversions and what if estate agent pickles is planning to do a number on the clams? of course that wouldn't matter long term because he's a clam and they'd soon reg any profiteering moneyz straight back off him..

Most likely the scilon who's doing security duty. Much as it would be fun to see a Police Firearms Unit descend upon the building I think any ideas of reporting possible terrorist activities in an abandoned building would be counter productive - not good to accuse scilons of wasting police time and then do it ourselves. And no this is not a veiled suggestion someone should do it really.

Why am I so old and responsible these days, what happened to the carefree, irresponsible rogue I knew and loved? :-(

    How does I shot rubbish?

And the rats begin nibbling at his toes...
  13. AnonyVix Member

Think this was explained earlier but basically in England they can say "I want to get shot of that" which means "I want to dispose of that".

I've got a horrible feeling about that building. Call it OT powerz, if you like, but in my mind I hear the hiss and crackle of burning timbers. I hear the clatter of falling slates. I hear the rush of wind through a broken door feeding a roaring fire. I see flames like slender fingers reaching up into the night sky with sparks like fireworks rising into the night and joining with the stars. A beacon alerting the people. But the message is not one of warning. Rather it is to tell the people of Gateshead that the threat of the cult has passed, that their families are safe and they can now sleep peacefully.

    johnny i am dissapoint

'fly tipping' is simply where people dump unwanted shit anywhere they think nobody is looking and drive off. this has become a major issue for enforcement officials in the uk as the authorities increase charges for the use of regular disposal sites, especially for businesses

Did the local council do anything about that kicked in door? Is anybody there who can check? Now that I have reported it to the local council, they will be responsible if that building burns down or a child crawls in and meets with an accident.
  18. charlie Member

Will pop down next week and check.
  19. RolandRB Member

Thanks, that would be good. I assume you took those three pictures showing how dilapidated it has become. It is a shame there are not more Anons in Gateshead.
  20. charlie Member

The buildings a 5 minute walk from the civic centre they cannot miss it .
  21. xenubarb Member

Interesting. Variations I've heard; "I want to get shed of this," and "I want to get shut of this." I understood it contextually, but didn't know where it came from and figured it was a southern colloquialism.
  22. JohnnyRUClear Member

OK, so how in the world do you get that meaning from the words "fly tipping"??
  23. xenubarb Member

I'm in Cali and I know what 'fly tipping' is. Read moar BBC News.

Should I tell the good people at Sunderland Org that their beautiful new Ideal Org is in danger of being VANDALISED or BURNT TO THE GROUND or should I just keep quiet and let fate take its course?

Oh look, is that a HOLE IN THE WINDOW or a trick of the light?

    Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease tell them .
  28. RolandRB Member

I wish somebody would set up a webcam for that place running 24/7 so we could see the vandals do their work. Maybe have a sweepstakes for the day "the big one" happens. It would be better than watching TV. :)

I just thought - on the promo literature for that Ideal Org I thought I saw plush furnishings inside as well as a huge gold cross. I hope nobody goes in and steals any of it.
  29. RolandRB Member

Come to think if it, I have already told the local council so I am sure they have it all under control.

Maybe but if you do, tell the local arsonists not to set fire to the building first.
  32. Anonymous Member

Well.... I could see how someone might mistake him for one.

(p.s. the chalk actually says "HELP! DAVE" )
  33. charlie Member

I'm genuinely supprised at Gateshead Council for not getting this building secure .
  34. RolandRB Member

If you know the address (I did not) please send them a reminder. This is a dangerous situation.
  35. RolandRB Member

Perhaps some kind Anon could put a sign above the kicked-in door saying something to the effect of "Please do not set fire to this building".

Just doing my bit, you understand.

    Dear Sirs,

I have previously written to you (ref date: 07 May 2011 06:24:47 location a dangerous building in your ward and to the best of my knowledge, nothing has been done to remedy this dangerous sitation. When I last wrote I did not know the address but I have it now and it is at:

    Windmill Hills Nursing Home
    Mulgrave Terrace

The situation there has deteriorated since I last wrote as you can see from this recently-taken photo:

I trust that your office will attend to this immediately to ensure the safety of people in the local area.

    Yours faithfully,
    Roland Rashleigh-Berry

How about finding a bunch of fetish artists to do a shoot in there? Would there be any Scientology stuff still in there? Would that piss off DM?
