"We drink all night, and curse and fight"
And wake up in the stable."
It's been more than two weeks now since last report. I was wondering how that grand old building was getting on.
Will be next week before I can get back down there .
I can't wait for the next set of picture. Will they have secured the place again? Will more of the doors have been pulled off? Will any more of those double glazed panels in the conservatory area be kicked in? Will the sink hole be deeper? Will there be evidence of fire usage indoors? Will any more of the upstairs window frames be kicked out?
Northumbria's Ideal Org - the source of regeneration for the North of England.
RENOVATE THAT !!!!
I didn't know, honest !
I wonder what they would get for it if they sold it now.
if they gain permission to demolish, prob more as a block of crap new-build houses made of cardboard & stoothing
^ agreed. worth more as an empty site than as a listed building which can't be demolished.
Who actually owns the building, Richard Pickles or CoS?
Sorry, really late reply on a dead thread I know, but had to do it because I live in Gateshead and was not expecting to find posts about the local area!! So I take it there are members who live near me which is nice to know! (And by the way I dont drink bella.......)
You should try it. It goes perfect with a tab and chip supper standing in the local bus shelter.
I'll think about it! To be honest there are alot of so called 'charvas' in the area but - surprisingly - a few of us are actually well educated and normal(ish), though I must admit not many!
Martin Rathbun does mining survey's on Hollywood Boulevard.
That painting on the right looks like an original Stourton to me and with the price his paintings fetch at auction at Christies then it could be worth a million pounds. Somebody needs to break in there to preserve that painting. I believe it is the long lost "Merlin and Teddy" painting. It is the one of Merlin holding Excalibur downwards about to lift it to confer knighthood on the surprised Teddy Bear wearing a red robe (clearly seen in the bottom right corner). Of course, this masterpiece of art is steeped in symbolism (hardly surprising for a Stourton). "Teddy" is a play on "Edward" as in "Edward Stourton" so the artist is lightheartedly placing himself in the situation. Merlin is of course associated with the Hotel Castle Camelot where his major artworks are on display. Excalibur is the Sword of Truth and also symbolic of the Scientology religion of which he is a member.
There's a later thread, with 10 pages of lulz, here: https://whyweprotest.net/community/threads/northumbria-idle-fire.91837/page-10#post-2060248
It cover's the story from the point when the cult's unsecured fail building got trashed and burned by vandals right up to present day when it was recently discovered that the "fastest growing religion" has in fact given up on this and the building has been put up for sale.
I was thinking the same thing. Fuck me dead!
You mean a pecker?
Thanks for the heads up - I'd be interested to know the full story on this one with it being so close to home! I've lived near to that care home all my life and never imagined it had ties to cult activity. My eyes are opening......
Glad to hear you are on my same (or similar or parallel) artistic wavelength. One of the strengths of Stourton's style is when he uses the blodgy technique as in the above "Merlin and Teddy". Blodginess on a sparse background. To the insensitive and unenlightened that could look like patches of mold on a plain decaying wall. But personally I see it as bursting creativitity coming from nature itself, the blodginess being the quantum foam containing infinite energy that bursts out of virtual existense into actual existence to find its expression in the universe and to settle in its rightful place and thus to confer meaning to the universe and to our lives.
This is one of those rare occasions when Stourton has gone to the trouble to give perfect form to the Teddy Bear to counterbalance the extreme use of quantum foam creative blodginess. The nose of the bear is obvious, its open mouth in surprise, that we see turn to joy, is perfect in construction and perspective. The ear of the bear is perfectly formed. The red robe could also be a jumper or cardigan, reminiscent of Rupert Bear or the teddy bears we had as children, returning us to our state of childhood purity and innocence - a Parsival-like state of purity where the Holy Grail saw the opportunity to reveal itself. That Teddy Bear is us in our purest state and in that purest state we are ready to receive the knighthood, the uplifting of our own natures up into a Divine State of Grace with the universe and ultimately God.
It is Stourton's finest work by far, in my opinion, and we must not let it be destroyed but instead, preserve it for all time. It should be the centrepiece in the Tate.
If Stourton and his art were a cheese, it would be this one:
It looks harmless. I used to live in Lille and used to eat Vieux Lille from time to time. You have to run home when you buy it in case it warms up. You have to put it in the freezer for a while before you can transfer it to the ordinary fridge department. After I left Lille I paid a visit back there and brought a block of it home with me to London. It warmed up to full room or higher temperaturs on the train. Going through the Channel Tunnel it stank the carriage out with a smell halfway between the crack in a fat man's sweaty anal crack and a putrifying corpse. I had to move to another carriage.
To cut a long story short , ex anon " The Shadow" hit gateshead council with email's , all the relivant shit on the cult ie the owner , cult boss hodkin the so caller solicitor and the lie's and deceit in there dealing's with the council relaiting to D1 "place of worship" re. not a religion and I printed off 7 pages of info and hand delivered it to there legal department so "catch 22" they can use the building for any other religion BAR scientology .
(Plus Sunderland Org fails so hard anyway, they didn't have a hope in hell of operating another in the region.)
so is Sunderland gonna be the first cleared county?
Stourton and Hodkin.
The UK 's version of the most ethical beings scientology has ever produced. The planet continues to laugh.
Glad to see that people are actively fighting this cult, unfortunatley I could see scientology getting quite a following in Gateshead if they were given a chance. If you guys need any help in the north east I'd be happy to oblige, fight the good fight and all that!
Forgot to mention we flier'ed the whole area around the building 3 times , it was brought up at the local residents association , thanks for the offer but I dought there'd be another protest in gateshead with it up for sale . Sunderland never been protested for more than 2 years as the place is virtully dead .
Except for the Sunday Service, I guess you mean?
What times the service ? .
Suppose I could have a look down LOL.
"sunday service" being the weekly video disc of DM rather than an actual church service you mean?
I would be up for a planned protest at one of their 'services', would have to be a few of us though to make an impression.
Yep, one man standing outside a locked door isn't going to change the world.
Yep LOL .
Who is up for this?
Going to have to next weekend I'v got something going on tomorrow .
Sorry chap's been busy with other stuff for a while but just past the building WOW what a mess they've never touched the building since the last time I was down , tarp's completely in tatter's open to the element's again some of the security fences have been pulled down will put some pic's up latter .
Thanks for keeping us posted Charlie!
