Six Jewish suspects arrested over death of Palestinian teenager | Reuters

Israel has arrested six Jewish suspects in the abduction and killing of a Palestinian teenager whose death sparked violent protests in Jerusalem and Israeli Arab towns, a security source said on Sunday.

With tensions high along the Gaza border, Israel said its aircraft attacked 10 sites in the Palestinian enclave in response to persistent rocket strikes on southern Israeli towns.

But Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signalled that broader Israeli action was not imminent.

The security source gave no details about the suspects arrested in the investigation into the abduction and killing of 16-year-old Mohammed Abu Khudair, other than to say they were Jewish and that police saw "nationalist motives" in the case.

There was no immediate announcement from police about the arrests.

When an Israeli child is murdered by a Palestinian, Hamas, Gaza's elected government, says they deserved it just because they are Israeli.

When a Palestinian child is murdered by an Israeli, the Israeli government condemns it, and conducts a police investigation to bring the killer to justice.

These two groups are not the same.

Hamas says Israeli air strikes in Gaza kill 6 of its men | Reuters

Israeli air strikes killed six Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip on Monday, the Islamist group said, in the deadliest attacks in a surge of violence exacerbated by the kidnapping and killing of three Israeli youths and a Palestinian teen.

Palestinian militants kept up their now-daily rocket launchings into Israel as pressure mounted from hardliners in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition for tougher action against Hamas, the dominant force in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli military said its aircraft targeted "terror sites and concealed rocket launchers" in the enclave. It said about 10 rockets hit southern Israel on Monday, wounding one soldier.

Tensions between Israelis and Palestinians have risen over the killing of three Jewish teenagers in the occupied West Bank, which Israel has blamed on Hamas, and of a 16-year-old Palestinian in East Jerusalem.

Israel denies killing six Hamas militants, prepares for escalation | Reuters

A senior Israeli military officer denied on Monday that Israel had killed six Hamas militants in an air strike, saying the men died when explosives went off in a tunnel they had dug.

Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner told reporters Israel was preparing for a possible escalation in hostilities along the Gaza frontier and had called up several hundred reserve troops.

You are correct with that. This part of the government seems not to be the same. They are more like the palestinians peacfully protesting, i.e. in Bil'in.
Another part of the government and unfortunately a significant part of society in Israel is in fact comparable to palestinian fanatics. It's the part supporting illegal settlements and these people already started apartheid, torturing and killing.
Furthermore, you might find it interesting to search for words like "Irgun" or "Haganah".

Hamas rockets land deep in Israel as it bombards Gaza | Reuters

At least 20 people were killed across Gaza on Tuesday, Palestinian officials said, by a bombardment Israel said may be just the start of a lengthy offensive against Islamist militants whose rockets reached hit unprecedented depths of its interior.

Israelis ran for cover as air-raid sirens sounded in the business capital Tel Aviv and the holy city of Jerusalem, both of which were hit in the previous Gaza war of November 2012.

Hamas said it also fired at rocket at northern Haifa, 140 km (88 miles) away, and though this was not confirmed Israel said a rocket had landed in Hadera, 100 km (60 miles) from Gaza - further than had previously been reached.

While the Israelis reported no casualties, the long-range salvo was celebrated by the outgunned Palestinians as proof of their resolve in hostilities that flared three weeks ago after the abduction and murder of three Jewish seminary students.

The rocket strikes could, however, draw an Israeli invasion, something officials have said is a possible option.

While my heart bleeds for the Palestinian peoples plight I have always equally empathised with the families of innocent jewish peoples slain. Its a seemingly unfixable situation, however when both sides seem to take glee in tit for tat slaughter of each others children, my empathy abates. I am for certain no longer going to sit comfortably by and hear bigoted statements like 'fuck the jews' When at this point it should be a resounding 'fuck all of them'

    :(
  10. anon8109 Member

I don't think that's accurate. I didn't see any reports of public celebrations of the murders.

The Israelis condemned the murder of a Palestinian teen and arrested suspects.
Hamas said the murder of Israeli teens was justified. That's not quite the same as glee.

You get my point though dont you? How on earth does the kidnapping and slaughtering of each others children improve or even alter this horrific stalemate? For the first time in my adult life and awareness of this situation I am at a loss for hope. :(

Well, you don't have to mix both events (series of murders and illegal occupation conflict).
Atm, everything possible is done to mix it. Who profits most of this strategy?

What should the palestinian people do to free themselves?
If they fight against occupation, they are accused of violence.
If they protest against taking their land and cutting down their olive trees for settlements, they are accused of breaking the law (well, which one?).
If they organize a global boycot campaign gaining an increasing support, they and the people in solidarity are accused of antisemitism.

So wtf should they do?? Shoot themselves? Leave their land because Zionism wants it all?

I really hate the idiots shooting "missles" at Israel. But even here, compare the scaling of weapons on both sides and what the results are. Media are talking about a possible new war. Impossible thing: This is not an equal conflict as defined in "war". This is Goliath against David.
  14. White Tara Global Moderator

David and goliath at war, neither side is righteous. Humanity if it exists on either side needs to rise up. This situation has sunk to a whole new level of depravity. An overthrow of the warlords on both sides is due.

Oddly I would suggest a violent overthrow for both sides if nessesary. That in and of itself is counterintuitive for me personally and in general terms.

Hamas drifts into Gaza fight it doesn't know how to finish | Reuters

The latest mini-war between Israel and the Islamist group Hamas began with the Gaza-based militants eager to strike a blow, but the escalation that followed has left them physically and diplomatically exposed, with no ready way out.

Hamas has sent its rockets streaking into Israel after a month of army raids in the occupied West Bank - in search of three missing Israeli teenagers - that landed more than 900 Palestinians in jail, many of them Hamas members.

The self-styled Islamic Resistance Movement was further prompted to action by widespread anger at the burning alive of a Palestinian youth by suspected Jewish extremists last week, an apparent revenge attack after the missing teens were found shot dead in the West Bank - murders Israel blames on Hamas.

Hamas said it hadn't sought a war, but now hundreds of Israeli bombs continue to pound the coastal strip, killing scores of Gazans - almost all of them civilians, according to Palestinian medical officials.

It says the onus for ending the hostilities is on Israel, where the rocket attacks have caused no fatalities and whose missile defense system has intercepted many of the Hamas projectiles.

This is, in so many points, wrong and full of brainwashed BS.
So Palestinians are bad when using weapons and Israel has to fight back.
Palestians and Supporters are bad when launching peaceful BDS campaign.
He forgot to say what Palestinians should do to get back their land and security+dignity of live.
Just look at a checkpoint to see who is full of hatred. Just read what Israeli soldiers fed up with the injustice said and wrote.

But this guy gives also hope. Targeting BDS proves it is successful and it is already known that it is the greatest fear of radical religious Israeli. Or as Mr. Ghandi put it: "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

Obviously, I'm against the Israelis severing the internet connection in Gaza, and I doubt Israel will do that. But IMHO, that's the only point which anonymous should concern itself with. Starting to take sides in this conflict is rather stupid. Using the rhetoric of the Islamist who refer to Israel as the "Zionist entity" doesn't make you look very good.

Also, does anonymous really want to align itself with Hamas, a ruling Gaza movement that imprisons and kills bloggers, kills gays, mistreats women and teaches kids that the best thing in life is to become a Shahid [martyr]?

    .[/quote]

Anonymous is not a stupid bunch that has to "obey", "listen to", or otherwise be on government or media side.
Anonymous is an enormous group of people of all ages, all races, with all different opinions and with great hearts and minds of their own. One thing that unites them is a fight injustice wherever it happens. Israel is committing a crime for years depriving Palestinians of their land, freedom and lives. One would expect that people who experienced so many tragedies during WWII would not be cruel to the others, nor would they steal land, occupy, built their settlements on Palestinian land, kill civilians and children and claim to be a democracy.
Think about it and stay safe.

I could be wrong, but it’s my impression that more Israeli citizens go to university as compared to people living under the Palestinian Authority. So the smart move would be for the Palestinians to say, we want to be Israeli citizens with equality before the law, so our kids get higher education.

Because the past is a trap and the future is what counts.

Gaza death toll rises; Hamas fires rockets at Tel Aviv | Reuters

An Israeli air strike on the home of Gaza's police chief killed 18 people on Saturday, Gaza's health ministry said, and Hamas fired the largest salvo of rockets yet on Tel Aviv since the start of the Jewish state's offensive in the Palestinian enclave.

The strike on the home of Tayseer Al-Batsh in Gaza City was the deadliest bombing since Israel launched its offensive on Tuesday to end Palestinian rocket fire into its territory.

A source in the Islamist group Hamas, which has fired hundreds of rockets into Israel since Tuesday, said Al-Batsh, was in critical condition. All of those killed in the air strike were members of Al-Batsh's family.

Ashraf Al-Qidra, spokesman for the Gaza Health ministry, said 45 people were wounded and others were still trapped under the rubble where rescue workers were searching.

Hamas earlier claimed responsibility for 10 rockets that were launched at Tel Aviv on Saturday but which caused no casualties or damage.

Sirens sounded across central Israel as people rushed for cover from the rockets. One group of youths sitting at the beach cheered as they saw a rocket intercepted in the night sky. In Gaza, Palestinians stood at rooftops chanting Allah Akbar (God is great), cries that also echoed over mosque loudspeakers.

Very good Gaza Youth! Now should you ever get a chance to vote, pick a political group that will represent you and value your needs, and your lives, more than a religious holy war.
