Operation Latham & Watkins Project Dead Law Firm has been moved from think tank into action. The initial aim is to send everybody in L&W an email regarding Fair Game and Scientology. Graham Berry has some suggestions on the content starting from this post. latest: This letter is send to all lawyers of Latham & Watkins in the world with an email address. http://forums.whyweprotest.net/12-c...n/operation-latham-watkins-7808/2/#post147901 A lulz verson is also drafted for Johnson and Pope. The letter is mostly made up of sections from Barry's and Swift's previous posts. The rest of information is both attached as and linked to the same bare bone htm files. I have written a crude custom spider (firefox add-on) to collect L&W email addresses from lw.com. I'll post all the addresses in the next post when the email to be sent is ready. This is not supposed to be a spam exercise, but get them to read. The first email is most likely to be read, which will affect the chance of the 2nd.
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins Email lists for L&W offices in bare bone HTML for direct copy and paste: http://watkins.latham.googlepages.com/barcelona.htm http://watkins.latham.googlepages.com/brussels.htm ... http://watkins.latham.googlepages.com/losangeles.htm
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins Don't forget Level 2 contacts as well. Associates, contacts, clients, etc of the listed above. i.e. Just about every business on the planet. :fuckyou: Finding information would not be hard. 90% of all corporate websites list their PR department as contacts. I've started up my rumor mill again. Everyone (business contact) I meet finds out that L&W represent the Church of Scientology and their astounding success in helping their client "handle" that anonymous group. Pic is common reaction.
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins Interesting point. L&W are currently failing. Who would want to hire a law firm which is obviously unable to tell their client that they're wasting their money and time with this nonesense? Cunning anon!
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins This^^ Bad PR is BAD. "Oh yes, we hired L&W because of that wonderful job they are doing in handling that dangerous anonymous terrorist group that is spreading lies about the Church of Scientology"
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins I'm not a very good writer, but I am really excited about this initiative. If a draft of something could be put out that would be wonderful. I put all the operation clambake info I could on the dead law firm page. But, it seems very wordy for the average joe lawyer who may get it and discard it as TL;DR
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins Idea from another post: 1) Sign up the above lawyers for Scientology courses. 2) L&W lawyers can't do much because its a major client handled by a partner 3) Resignations! 3) ??? 4) Profit
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins ha ha ha. that would be hilarious. the end result would be a bunch of brainwashed scilons or an empty law firm.
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins This sounds good to me, Anon. Keep up the good work! I especially like the "...signing up the lawyers for Scientology courses". LULZ!
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins The signing up for courses bits reminds me of Fishman's story with the signing Psychs up for endless newsletters. Sounds funny. Let them get a taste of their client. Of course, all this should only theoretically be done. No actual harassment should occur!
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins Harassment is at the sole discretion of the mail order business division of the Church of Scientology (or whatever front group) to decide. What harm can come from spreading the word of Scientology?
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins Be careful in terms of message here--focus on CoS (and Latham & Watkins?) abusing the court systems and other abuses of justice. Most lawyers aren't going to care about their clients human rights abuses or whatever. I'm actually not making a lawyer joke here--everyone deserves legal representation and most lawyers would agree. Focus on CoS undermining justice and using shady legal techniques.
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins We need a single Cease and Desist letter to send. I'm working on one modeled after Latham and Watkin's own.
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins Copied the format Latham and Watkins' cease and desist to anonymous I found online. Any good?
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins Might I suggest, we try to coordinate just one informative e-mail. The point is to inform. Not send too much e-mail. The last thing we want is for people to go overboard.
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins Thats what I suggested. I used the format of a Latham letter and posted it above your post. It's not good, as I'm a horrible writer, but maybe to get people started?
Proposed letter for comment Latham & Watkins initiated into Scientology's Fair Game Policy Dear Counsel, Recently, on Latham & Watkins LLP letterhead, Mr. Schindler sends a cease and desist letter to Scientology critics and alleges facts that are not in evidence in any court of law. [Attached 1,2,3] Further, there have been no arrests made of any member of Anonymous based upon the allegations contained in Mr. Schindler's letter. I believe that everyone is entitled to the best legal representation. But as a large business entity, I doubt if L&W would like to act drastically different than Coca Cola, Dell, and Philips Electronics, who immediately denied or ceased any unknowing connections with the Church of Scientology, after appearing on CoS promotional vidoes. Corporations named in Scientology video respond : Web Scout : Los Angeles Times I would like to point out what the Church of Scientology stands for. CoS destroys critics by all means possible, of which the recent C&D letters to young protesters' parents are prime examples [Attached 3,6]. Scientology is a Master Race Cult, having a totalitarian justice system of it's own, aiming to convert or otherwise eliminate all non-Scientologists, who have no rights whatsoever [Attached 5,6]. Latham competes aggressively for the top students from the nation’s top law schools. Many of those law students, student newspapers and law reviews can express their concern about a leading national law firm crossing over to the dark side, taking millions of dollars to try and shudder young freedom fighters into silence. To put it another way, Latham should not be representing the Church of Scientology for the same or similar reasons that it would not have represented the Russian Communist Party, the Chinese Communist Party, Hitler’s Nazi Party or any other totalitarian organization dedicated to total global domination (“Clearing the Planet”), the elimination of all other religions, the elimination of freedom of speech or thought, and the extermination of all those people who impede that goal (“Criminals” or “Suppressive Persons”). In the Scientology controlled society only Scientologists are to have any human or civil rights whatsoever. Suppressive Persons, such as those participating in Anonymous, have no human rights and no civil rights. They may be deceived and destroyed by any available means by any Scientologist or attorney and private investigator employed by the Church of Scientology. Anonymous believes those goals are in conflict with the good consciences of most of the 2,100 lawyers of Latham, and its thousands of other employees in its 26 offices, around the globe. Of course, Anonymous could also encourage the governments to just cut off the head of the octopus, peel back the layers of the onion, and to follow the tears of the money trail. After all, in my opinion, the Scientolgy is an international and domestic terror group with its headquarters in the United States. PATTINSON CRIMINAL COMPLAINT ETC.. Re: Operation Latham & Watkins I actually facepalmed when I saw this. This is EXACTLY what we should NOT be saying. My mother worked in an administrative job at a university for a while and one of the lawyers who did work for Scientology was on the board. They got this kind of letter all the time and it didn't do shit. You know why? For any lawyer with a shred of integrity, this kind of letter is a fucking vindication. They read this and they think "see, the system works; everyone, even the most evil groups out there, has legal representation and I'm helping." We need a lazor beam of a message here; we need to tell L&W that CoS subverting the justice system and using them as a tool to do it. We need to convince L&W that thier current tactics will not only ruin the reputation of the firm, but are also a perversion of the justice system and a betrayal of the integrity of thier profession. The kind of bullshit I've quoted will do nothing but make L&W believe that they're doing the right thing.
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins Maybe something about how it is official Co$ policy to manufacture evidence (isn't that in the Fair Game policy letter?) or about how they use lawsuits not to win, but to "discourage and harrass" (I can't remember the darn quote at the moment, but someone should be able to find it--I think it's the Fair Game policy also.) Anyway, point being that Hubbard detested the american justice system and saw it only as a tool to further his own goals. If this can be presented clearly and concisely (I'll give it a shot myself, fwiw), it may be the best reason for lawyers not to do the cult's work.
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins icmu, most of the materials I copied from an experienced, but biased , lawyer (I believe), or from something else he suggested. So that carried more weight than, no offense , your mother. Your choice of words doesn't help to show that you are mature enough to win arguments and influence people. Personally I see no harm in that, it's not about what they may or may not do, it's about what I want to say in their face as public opinion. If anybody want to do something that DA's and DoJ haven't managed to do, you have a couple of hours. I will only add materials that is well supported and referenced as those attached documents. Though email addresses are free, while Scientology is not.
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins This ^ Please refer to the 1999-2004 battle of KKK vs. NYC. The Klan was fighting for the right to protest while wearing masks. Sound familiar? Ku Klux Klan Says It Will Seek Permission for a Masked Rally in City - New York Times The NYCLU (the same org helping NYC anon right now) represented the Klan. They were right to do so, despite the despicable practices of that group. Incidentally, the Klan lost... and now NYC anons are in a tough position. Good lawyers represent many different people in the interest of the law overall. L&W isn't categorically unethical by representing Scientology, but it is on seriously questionable ground when it uses the force of the law (or misrepresentation of the law) to bully non-clients.
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins I said nothing about your references. I said that condemning L&W for representing CoS is not only (in my view) morally reprehensible, but will also strengthen the resolve of L&W lawyers. Your facts are fine, your message is fail. In addition, I do not give a shit about what you want to say in their face; while I hate to be pragmatic (that's a lie, I love it) this message not only does nothing for anybody but yourself, it is counter-productive to our goals. This is essentially the moralfag equivalent of prank phone calls--it might be satisfying, it might be justified but in the end it damages our cause. I can't tell you what to do, but I strongly disapprove of that sort of thing. Also--did you just try to call me out for using "fuck"? Here? Fucking seriously, have you SEEN the vernacular around here? What I wrote was pretty (fuckinglol) tame.
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins icmu, the other paragraphs refers to other posters. I have some time to spare so I can debate a little with you. That paragraph is written, I believe, by an experienced lawyer who successfully stand against CoS for ages and survives. That's what you are up against. For me, how bad can that be? Prank calls make enemies. Polite persuasion doesn't - what is a layman to know about the integrity of lawyers who represent evil? At worst, all L&W lawyer will be fighting for CoS as a client. And for $500,000 a month (??), who wouldn't? If you are right, we aren't doing to change anything for lawyers with integrity. Maybe we can appeal to lawyers who went to law school just because of money. The potential of losing just one rich client down the road while Schindler profits will be too much to bear.
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins First off: I don't care if it was written by God himself, I'm not "up against" the writer, I'm talking about the paragraph itself. You misinterpret me--I'm not saying we can't appeal to the integrity of L&W lawyers. I'm saying that yelling them "yuo're client r nazis lololol" will not only do nothing to convince them, but will elicit a response of "Well, even Nazis deserve legal representation." I'm not saying we don't hit L&W; we have to hit them and hit them hard. Stopping their attacks will help out our own as well as creating interest in the legal community. We need the propaganda machine running full gear on them, but we need to be careful. Unlike most audiences, :&W will not be impressed by human rights abuses and extortion. That's not their business. We need to tell them that CoS is using them to pervert justice. We need to tell them that their bullying tactics are out of line and that they are dragging their firms name through the mud. Our message needs to be two pronged--one prong appeals to the integrity of everyone at L&W; not by telling them that their client is a church of baby-killing Nazis, but by telling them that they are each individually responsible for the abuse of the American justice system by CoS. The second prong is the threat to their reputation; we should inform potential and current clients, as well as the legal community at large of the specific abuses commited by L&W in the name of CoS. Yes, you are making enemies. You're making enemies by giving lawyer who should be outraged by the actions of their firm a change to take pride in those actions.
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins Idea is good- We need a definite letter to send. Im assuming were not going with the whole "The Co$ are Nazis" Letter?
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins this is beyond win. debating the nazis riding dinosaurs thing is unnecessary, this is based on L & W own letter, how more poignant can you get? one meelion internetz to you, unaware. can we send this already? p.s. global people of the internet, inc - i love it
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins I love that Global People of the Internet, Inc too, LOL. But I wouldn't go so far as to saying, for example, point blank that CoS sent the bomb video themselves without presenting more facts. And I'm tired, or I should say lazy. I like the warning to L&W too. It will be another history. But I would concentrate on facts this time and save the lulz for later. Email addresses are free. icmu, it's a matter of one guy telling me this while the other telling me the opposite. Other than Scientology and WISE, many things are driven by stats long before LRH was born. In this case a risk analysis is appropriate. For a thousand lawyers who read that paragraph, how many will be offended? Makes an enemy out of Anonymous? I don't believe this, at worst he will say stupid and hit the delete button. No harm done, IMHO. How many will feel that they are losing or will lose money in the long run? Some. How many will take pride of David's action? Maybe 999/1000 believes in lawyers integrity and I will make them proud. But is that a bad thing? I don't have any other paragraphs to win them over, but I don't see this paragraph will make them any harder to win over. I feel that talking about the paragraph is a little taken out of context. Innocent until proven guilty. If you know for a fact that the client is guilty you don't take on the case to defend, am I right or watching too much TV? Or if you have sufficient evidence to believe that your client is guilty, and you can't represent him effectively, you don't take the case right? The whole point of the document is to prove that CoS is guilty of Fair Game and other things, with their own justice system, written down by LRH himself that everybody can lookup via Wikileaks. Fair Game is carried out numerous times, CoS officials were jailed for it. If LRH wrote down instructions for genocide, and that Scientologists take his words as holy scripture, what more do you need? The KKK case is not the same. The contest was about wearing a mask during protest, which should have nothing to do with what KKK stands for in arriving at conclusions. This CoS case is unmistakably a fair gaming offensive by the book (HCO), that they should be guilty of. You know, being Anonymous has to be very professional. With all the Internet power LOL, any Anonymous with integrity has to consider deleting, or issuing the cancel command, very carefully. This exercise is also to shame L&W, not directly by emailing them though. What will some rich future clients think? What will potential recruits think? What will David's mother think? I don't think all lawyers will be proud to represent tobacco companies. I have no qualms about telling them what I, as a general public, think.
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins i thought that too (providing sauce) but honestly i think its unnecessary. in this letter that L&W sent some kid in college, they have said that anonymous has threatened to kill church members, sent letters with fake anthrax, bomb threats etc etc all of which are blatantly untrue, but it doesn't stop them saying it. the brilliant irony of the unaware's letter is that it quotes the same bomb threat transcript that L&W included in THIER letter - sending it right back at them. sure, anonymous can't prove that scienos did it - but they can't prove anonymous did it either, that didn't stop them accusing them! its not a real legal letter, it doesn't matter that we don't sauce, the important thing is IMPACT. by parroting thier own format back at them, it shows them that not only are anonymous not afraid of thier threats, we also are spurred onwards with more vigor because of them.
Letter send to all L&W This is the final version sent, also at watkins.latham - Latham & Watkins The Global Internet letter is attached too. Added is the reference to that CoS was guilty of Operation Freakout (Fair Gamed) and they are repeating exactly the same pattern written down by LRH with the help of L&W. FYI, google is limited to 500 emails per day so have to create a few anon accounts. The emails were delivered successfully as seen by the out of office responders. I'll post all the address later in case OSA spam them. -------------------- Latham & Watkins initiated into Scientology's Fair Game Policy Dear Counsel, Recently, on Latham & Watkins LLP letterhead, Mr. Schindler sends cease and desist letters to Scientology critics and alleges facts that are not in evidence in any court of law. Re: Operation Latham & Watkins Updated mine, fixed a few grammar/spelling mistakes and changed the wording in the bomb threat part: Our group has been retained by the Global People of the Internet, Inc. in connection with a series of letters threatening legal action against innocent members of Anonymous made by Latham & Watkins, a client of The "Church" of Scientology. Since the "Church's" inception, the leadership of Scientology have engaged in a campaign of violence, fraud, and murder against any person who stands in the way. Scientology, supported by it's ruthless legal team, has driven thousands into bankruptcy, has created a slave labor system called the "Rehabilitation Project Force", hired Private Investigators to stalk anyone who speaks out, and is involved in the murders, suicides, and suspicious deaths of countless people. The "Church", supported by Latham and Watkins along with other members of Scientology's vast legal army, has issued false accusations in order to silence critics, along with the stalking of critics by Scientology hired PI's, and in one case, the killing of a member of Anonymous' cat, in order to scare them into silence. Latham and Watkins, LLP. has been issuing many baseless legal threats against members of Anonymous, who are at many times, children, at the request of the "Church" of Scientology. And on February 13, 2008, a video was placed on the internet saying: " We are an elite Anonymous. On the 13th of March 2008 . . . one 5 kilogram pack of nitroglycerin will detonate in the Churches of Scientology across the United States of America . . . This will be the World's biggest terrorist attack on a religion. Lives will be lost... A separate attack on [the President of the Church] will be launched on the 13th of March 2008 at an undisclosed time. His execution along with the deaths of other countless Scientologists will strike fear into every member of this cult. " Here: YouTube - Cult Fiction? YouTube.flv vs. the CoS DVD screen-shot is a brief documentary about several inconsistencies which may prove Scientology was the one who issued this threat in order to discredit Anonymous. We are writing you as a courtesy, because for the last several weeks the law firm Latham and Watkins has been involved in the harassment of critics of Scientology. The intent of this letter is to alert you to the fact that you(Latham and Watkins, LLP.) maybe engaged in improper activities on behalf of the "Church" of Scientology International. We are providing you this information in order to give you the opportunity to take whatever steps you deem necessary and appropriate to ensure your firm does not participate in unethical or illegal activities. Very truly yours, Anonymous
Anonymous's reply to Johnson & Pope These guys are jokes, so is the bar association and judges in Clearwater. I love to send this alone: Our group has been retained by the Global People of the Internet, Inc. in connection with a series of letters threatening legal action against innocent members of Anonymous made by Johnson & Pope, a client of The "Church" of Scientology. We are providing you this information in order to give you the opportunity to take whatever steps you deem necessary and appropriate to ensure your firm does not participate in unethical or illegal activities. Of course as a Scientologist, Wally knows it's his duty to Fair-Game critics, but I can tell you that your days as Attoneys are numbered. Now Clearwater is under the world's spotlight, and it's well known that Judges and the whole Bar Association of Clearwater, who meets at Ford Harrison Hotel, are jokes. You have no business and reputation outside of Clearwater. Do you know that CoS hired a well known global firm Latham & Watkins to send the same letters outside of Clearwater? You aren't even scary. CoS is fighting a global war against Anonymous and you are redundant. The days of CoS is also numbered. On 2004, only 16,000 Scientologists are willing to put their names on <a href="http://home.scientology.org/">http://home.scientology.org</a>. Now the number of Scientologists will be less than the 10,000 protesters outside CoS all over the world every Month. Before the CoS is completely gone in Clearwater, who in their right mind will not get out of there if they can? No tourist will risk to set foot on Clearwater. If I hit a tree, a Scientologist will certainly arrive first, trying the touch healing thing. If fails he will blame my thetans, before calling the ambulance. A three-wheeler will arrive because Jeff Bush diverted funding from hospitals into World Literacy Program run by Scientologists. My condition will deteriorate into a comma. If my wife want me to die, she just need to call any lawyer from the Bar Association. Judge Greer will certainly get the case and order death by dehydration just as he did to Terri Schiavo. Otherwise, people in Clearwater have a high chance of dying mysteriously as Lisa McPherson. So I urge you as Scientologists, "blow" out of the Church, and if you are not, "blow" out of the firm as soon as possible. Otherwise, the only way you can afford meals is by becoming a Scientologist and joining the Sea Org. You will have no salary, no health coverage and no pension. If you survive hard labor into old age, you will be encouraged to carry out End of Cycle. If you decided to stay on, you will be put into shameful nursing homes, not allowed e-meters, and not allowed to say that you are a scientologist. Very truly yours, Anonymous
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins I'm disappointed you ignored the extremely good advice about not hassling them for taking on a dodgy client. Lawyers are supposed to do this, its a mark of true belief in the justice system that they will represent anyone. Folks, if you are acting in anonymous' name, try and ensure you are doing so as smartly as possible and with as much of anonymous behind you as possible. I fear those letters are going to get framed and pinned on the wall as examples of a job well done.
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins THIS Believe me, I'm from an affluent, suburban, Jewish (loljews) background. I know a lot of lawyers, this is exactly what will happen.
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins Even as the messenger, wouldn't that be the highlight of my career being framed on thousands of lawyer's office walls? Where's Harvard law school's website?
Re: Operation Latham & Watkins lol a jorb well done? we'll see what happens. if they're found to be party to the cult's shenanigans, things will turn out differently than you (anonkiwi) expect.
