Operation Online Rescue: 1000s of Scientologists to contact

Here is an important thing for us to do online before March 15. We have a list of Facebook accounts for several thousands of Scientologists. With a large group of Anonymous, we can send them all the information and encouragement they need to take the step and leave the cult. CoS started a program this week to get their members off the Internet to hide them from Anonymous. This means we must act now before it's too late.

    How to join:

We have a lot of people to contact, but Anonymous is legion!
After this is finished, check your for replies. Provide more information to people who need it. Expect mostly negative replies at first. Sending a "fuck you" is quick, starting to reconsider being a member of CoS will take time. Remember: These vast majority of these people are victims of Scientology. Be helpful and friendly.

Sample messages (please change at least a few words so we don't get filtered):
    Links:
Pick some at random! If everyone picks the first 10, they will get flooded.
Preferably do whole batches of 10 at a time. Don't forget to report the numbers as given here. Exampe: "I did m121-m140".

Be careful, Anon. Do it wrong, the Scilons will be able to make it look like we're starting to persecute individual members.

    Agreed.

Only problem I see with this is the possibility for people to be spammed with hundreds of messages whilst others get nothing. This would require some careful planning, if you made it so an address was only given once you'd have the possibility for OSA to say they're sending messages when they're not but I'd see this as the lesser of two evils.

    Re:

My plan for now is to have everyone report which numbers you have contacted and I will remove them from the list. Some people might get two messages, but that's not a huge problem. When this gains speed I might not be able to keep up. I ma working on other solutions for that case.

I will post the first test batch of 50 accounts right now. Try with those and report any problems.

Re: Operation Online Rescue: 1000s of Scientologists to contact

I would totally register a facebook account to do this.

Also have we checked this out on myspace? People often list their religions on there. Is it searchable via religion?

Re: Operation Online Rescue: 1000s of Scientologists to contact

Just an idea, you split the batch of 50 accs, 10 each part and give the segments a number, when everyone has taken a number they start sending the PMs, that would ensure that noone gets two mails.

Re: Operation Online Rescue: 1000s of Scientologists to contact

Good idea! Do batches of 10 and report which range you are sending to (i.e. 30-40)
We have MySpaces too. They just haven't been processed into easy lists yet. Let's do Facebook first.

Re: Operation Online Rescue: 1000s of Scientologists to contact

I've got a few concerns about this.

    The first is that copyrighted materials (namely OT3) should not in anyway be offered. I don't see that there's any room for argument on this particular point;
though psychologically I don't think it's necessarily useful anyway. Ppl in the church are very aware that there are "fake" versions floating around on the web, and they've no particular reason to trust us over their own "church".

Clearly we need to ensure this whole idea is entirely sound from a legal point of view, (my guess is it probably is), but I'm aware that time's of the essence, so i've PM'd a couple of legal Anons (unfortunately they're both offline at the minute).

In principle I'm not totally against the idea of contacting people directly, as long as it is done in an intelligent way. I'd definitely want to see the idea bashed about by a few Anons before I put my name to it, partly to iron out any potential difficulties; and to ensure that there's a decent consensus.

Re: Operation Online Rescue: 1000s of Scientologists to contact

I agree with removing the reference about OT III. I think the emphasis of the letter should be focused outward--out of the church, out of the control, into normal society.

Edited a few spelling errors, added a bit, removed a bit. This is saying this will be the draft we're using. Waiting for other anons before sending, though I have my account ready. It's not much of an edit, but still.

Sticky this shit until we finish!

+ Be nice even if you get a hostile response. That's just their training kicking in. And people at the low levels have no idea what scientology does to them once they move up the ranks.

Re: Operation Online Rescue: 1000s of Scientologists to contact

I removed the OT3 stuff and put K3vin's version instead. The letter needed more focus anyway, so let's skip the OT3. Things are getting ready and it's soon evening in the US. Can we pull this off tonight if more people join?
I haven't spread this very far yet, but I will hit the chans now.

Re: Operation Online Rescue: 1000s of Scientologists to contact

That's a great letter. sounds very sincere. After K3vin's edits I can't see the need to change anything.
    Anonymous, engage!

(maybe we should include this mythical list of scilon facebookers here?)

Re: Operation Online Rescue: 1000s of Scientologists to contact

I posted a list of 50 accounts in the OP. I don't want to publish the whole list yet, as OSA could try to block us then.
Now, help bring bring in more Anonymous. I am ready to work on this for a few hours from now, and by then we should be well under way.
The CoS are working hard to keep there members from meeting critics online, so I can imagine they will not be very happy when they find out about this on Monday. By then there members will be gone

What about finding $80, and doing a press release?
If you do that, tens of thousands will read this letter + media exposure.

go to http://www.prweb.com/ to do the press release.
it's not simple, there are some rules on how you write it, so feel free to post your questions.
Note: if you do it incorrectly, you will get a low(3) score and won't hit the mainstream media (Yahoo, Google News, emediawire)

    MotS: Good!

lmafo: We are doing press releases too, in other threads. However, many Scientologists don't read the news because they have been told it's all lies. This way week can reach them directly.

I'd not thought of the news angle when I read it, but it is right, I've come across that in quite a few places. It'd be good to hear a bit more about this thread from other people for the same reason.

the only thing i take issue with is how disconnection is talked about.

many members have not been in long enough to be at the 'disconnection' level. so when the get the letter, it wont make sense. At this point the majority of members are just paying for pooks, c.d. lectures and auditing. The crazy gets leaked as a LOT of time goes by, so you're basically opening your letter with : oh hai I dont know anything about you, but i am assuming you dont talk to your family anymore. when in all reality, these people are still kickin it with wogs et al.

i would come at it from a $$ perspective and foretold future perspective and then list dangers and disconnection. just sayin.

seems like people on facebook and myspace are youngins who are mostly new & semi n00bs to the thing. remember these $cinoobs are also wannabe mensa members, so the more intelligent and factual the letters are the more likely they are to hit home.

Re: Operation Online Rescue: 1000s of Scientologists to contact

Well, the people who are deeper in are the most important to get out, and the others need to be warned about things like disconnection. If you can change the letter to appeal to both kinds of people, I will update the OP.

Since I've never used a facebook (blegh!) I was wondering how you found these people who are supposed to be scientologists?

Also, my own letter, if I get around to participating:

    That's beautiful <3 --- ^^^

This is a fantastic idea

we should compile a list of other useful links enturb may be a a bit of a shock to a person who's cock-eyed optimism gets the best of them ;)

I'm going to use your text - if that's ok- and add OCB and Xenu tv as links as well as Enturb, it's become such a nice forum :) the ex scientology message board would be a good link for them to see "the other side"

    hip hip hooray ;)

there is a huge myspace pool as well. HUGE
the people who run the front orgs for the Humanitarian group and the PsychKills group and fan sites are presumedly "up" on the bridge or OT levels

    http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... =164700814

    http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... =151355453

    http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... d=55783009

you can safely assume that the top 8ts/16/24s friends of these front groups and high ranking people are ALL $ci's. Even if you mistakenly send someone on their page info and they arent a $ci, they are getting informed about people reaching out, and not asking for anything in return...

I think this is a fine idea; I certainly don't see any real problems with it. Obviously, don't harass people who are nonresponsive or who respond negatively -- just ignore them. It might be worth checking back with the accounts that sent the messages in a few days though; I suppose it's possible that someone could respond with additional questions or a follow up. If that does happen, and people want to get some input on how to respond, they could paraphrase or selectively edit the response (be mindful that these people probably don't want any information that could remotely be tied to them, posted on a forum like this) and post it here.

I haven't reviewed the Facebook terms of service. It's possible, I suppose, that creating accounts like this is a violation of the Terms of Service. But they'll just ban the accounts and that will be the end of it, if that turns out to be the case.

It might be worth adding to that message a link to someplace like exscn.org (or whatever it is), and a suggestion that people can use computers at public libraries to see the stories of other former scientologists, and find ways to get the support needed if they decide to leave.

Regarding a press release: there have been several discussed on this board, including a significant one that people could use to alert local and national media in advance of the 3/15 event. Although anonymous is by nature decentralized, there is an element of centralization that really should take place for press releases. They need to be well written and we don't want all sort of random anonymous bombarding the same outlets with all sorts of random releases. My own view, and I'll post these comments in the other thread where the big release is being talked about, is that the wiki is the best place to get all anonymous reviewing the writing. It's also the best place to make sure that all anonymous is on the same page, that only one person send the release to certain outlets (e.g., prweb, or national media), and that for local anonymous involved in the protests to make sure that they are getting a consistent, high quality release with appropriate documents to go with it. This way, the release and development can take place here and at the other venues where anonymous converses, and the wikifags can get that information posted to a dedicated portion of project chanology.

All that to say, the advice that was given by the woman in the SA thread is sound, and it needs to be followed. People will just be throwing their time and money away, and everything will be discombobulated if it doesn't get some scrutiny and coordination with the major anonymous venues.
